This is the first rental I’ve ever had that’s been less than stellar and it’s unfortunate. Pros: 1-Check in process was very easy and they allow for early check in if your place is ready. 2-While the house was dated, it was clean. 3-Kitchen stocked with lots of dishes Cons: 1-Hot tub was filthy (wish I could upload pics) and did not get cleaned during our stay. Big Bear did end up refunding $100 but not really worth it when one of my main criteria was a hot tub. 2-TONS of ants. Summer is ant season but why not put out or supply ant traps?? We meticulously put food/drinks away, washed dishes and wiped counters but still the kitchen and main bedroom had them. 3-Fines for everything! I understand wanting guests to respect the house but the list was ridiculous (if any furniture moved-fine!). 4-There’s 2 rocking chairs in the house that have the “rockers” at the bottom installed backwards so the chairs tip over backwards when you sit in them. 5-Don’t expect any amenities or “extras”. Bare minimum of towels/washcloths. And no extra towels for hot tub. We figured since there was a washer/dryer ok, we’d just constantly run a load. BUT—they don’t supply detergent (or any bathroom items and a ziplock bag of like 5 dishwasher packs. Seriously). So what’s the point? We bought laundry soap and left for next guests—hope we don’t get a fine for “leaving items”. 6-this one is picky but if hoping to watch a movie at night with family the tv is placed in a bit of an odd location so you have to move the furniture (chairs) to be able to see it. And no cable or streaming services to utilize. My husband did find Vudu (?) he managed to access but beware with kids around…lots of not child appropriate choices on it
The property was cute!!! Overall it was nice besides a couple of things. Some dishes were dirty. Dog hairs on some of the bed sheets. Other than that it was nice.
We loved the house! It is a short distance by car to the center of the town, the lake, and many other activities. The fenced yard was a plus for us as we brought our dog. Kids enjoyed playing the game console in the evening while I and my husband sipped wine on the porch. The check-in and check-out were a breeze. Looking forward to coming back soon!
