Tacoma, Washington
Located one block from UPS & 6th Avenue, and 5 minutes from all major hospitals, this fishing-cabin themed studio space is a refreshing getaway after your busy day. Private entrance, private kitchen, private living and dining areas, and situated on one-half acre of flower and vegetable gardens, fruit trees, bird baths and a fountain, a serene retreat right in the heart of the city. Cosy cabin vibe with fireplace. Shared bathroom up the stairs, plenty of on-street parking.
I was under the mistaken impression that the property was a cabin in the woods. It was a finished basement room. I mistakenly believed that the property had a private bath. Bath is upstairs in the home and is shared with others.
It was great to be within walking distance to Puget Sound University. The studio apartment in the basement was cozy and the bed was quite comfortable. The bath was a little inconvenient and the little dogs were yappy but not too bad.
Perfect for my needs! It’s just a seven minute walk to the University of Puget Sound. My kiddo and I were able to enjoy time together in a very comfortable environment, and their classes were just a quick walk away. Cathy was great to work with! I will definitely stay there again.
Highly reccommend!
Kathy is a great person! Her place is great. We enjoyed the time we spent. No complaints, she was very honest in the listing. The pics are true to the board that you stay in and it does have a complete kitchen. Kathy was very accommodating, would definitely stay again if I'm in the area.
1st let’s start out w/ security & the deadbolt that is listed. On the outside door of the private basement entry there is 1 deadbolt lock. There is no deadbolt/lock of any kind at the top of the indoor basement stairs. These stairs are where you have access to the only full size bath rm. in the main house. 2nd topic, there is only 1 bath (on VRBO) that the owner & 2 other male roommates share as well with this listing. The bath is also shared with 2 dogs for their food/water bowls & sm. dog bed. We stayed for 3 weeks & the bath rm. was not cleaned. This space should be cleaned daily if it is being shared by multi. guests from diff. reservations. For this next topic let me preface by saying we have 3 dogs that we left at home so we definitely understand pet life. The owner has 2 chihuahua dogs that roam free in the home. They seem to be very protective of the main house where the shared bath is located. It may be because their dog food, H2O, & dog bed are in the bath rm. Thankfully, we discussed the aggressive behaviors of the dogs towards us w/ the owner & she had a friend take them for 1 week. The dogs can be outside at the backyard gate where you enter to go down to the basement entrance . Again, just know there are dogs & if you need to sleep during the day the barking may be an issue. Lastly, the laundry machine & dryer were at the end of bed where I slept that all housemates use. There is no separation for privacy. Thankfully,we were able to arrange 3x when we were gone.
Beautiful garden and outdoor area. Everyone was friendly and nice. Loved the privacy.
Thanks Cathy for a nice quick get away. Our second stay here and will come back!
Nice home away from home! Lovely space with a beautiful backyard garden in the city. Cathy was very respectful of our space and made sure we felt comfortable during our 3 week stay.
Cabin in the woods theme was very pleasant--a tasteful and enjoyable little hideaway!
Great rate. Convenient location. Shared bathroom was the only - albeit advertised as part of the rental - downside.
This pleasant owner has tried everything to decorate and organize this space and make it work well for guests. It is a basement that has been converted into a living space with adorable bear/woods themed design and Alexa to play you music and turn off the lights. There is also a beautiful backyard! However it smells musty and sharing the one bathroom upstairs with 3 others who live there was awkward for us, especially since the bathroom also contains a bin next to the toilet with urine pads where their dogs urinate. The owner was very honest on the listing about the space and the shared bathroom, but we found it to be more of a challenge for us than we anticipated.
