We loved this cabin! The kitchen was clean and very well stocked. The beds were very comfortable, the showers were large with a nice grade of toiletries and high grade towels. The porches were so nice with very comfortable furniture.
The house was beautiful, set apart and private, clean, well-stocked, comfortable. The view is spectacular. The location is very close to at least 15 great hikes.
This home has such a beautiful view! Everything was immaculate and the home is warm and beautifully decorated. We had a wonderful stay, we will definitely be back!!
The house was very private. The way the bedrooms were set up, my daughter and her family had their privacy. The air hockey table was a big hit. Everything was within 2 hours of the house. The
We rented this beautiful cabin for a girls’ weekend. It was so relaxing, had the most amazing view, and provided the perfect backdrop for our little getaway. Highly recommend!
The house was just as stated. They was very good communications the whole process. Very quiet and secluded. Would stay here again for sure.
The management company Vacasa is responsible for the low rating. The owners have a beautiful cabin with a mesmerizing view and great amenities. We were unable to add a week to our initial booking. We didn't want to pay the additional $500+ in cleaning, booking, and damage waiver fees again, but they refused to waive them. We experienced multiple power/water outages, and it was difficult to reach the host to report. We understand weather-related events. The cabin is in one of the rainiest areas on the east coast, and it should be equipped for such. The property only offered 1 flashlight and no emergency water source. After the second set of outages, I asked the local manager if any concessions would be offered, and she said they don’t offer refunds due to things beyond their control. I wasn't seeking a full refund, but some sort of concession would have been appreciated. The knives were dull. The rest of the kitchen is well stocked. We found several items in the kitchen that were dirty, so we washed things prior to use. The rest of the cabin was clean. The bunk bed was unstable, and the top bunk mattress is too deep making the top bunk guard rail useless. The beds were comfortable, but the pillows were flat. Overall, it’s unfortunate my family experienced multiple power/water outages and poor customer service, but we would consider staying again in the future. Hopefully, the management company considers the feedback.
This property had everything we could ask for: fantastic mountain views, great kitchen and open plan, even had nice cookware. We appreciated the collection of DVDs, puzzles, and air hockey table when it rained. We loved sitting on the big deck and enjoyed the mountain air!
Our whole family loved our stay!
My family and I stayed at the “Black Bear Cabin” for a couple of days last week and I was very disappointed that I had to leave ☺️. It was the most serene cabin that I’ve ever visited. The surrounding area was also very beautiful and we even saw deers. The view from both living rooms were spect, overlooking the trees and with a direct view to the far away mountains. The sunrise and sunsets were to die for. I need to stop talking now and just go ahead and book my next stay. Bye.
Black Bear Cabin had absolutely everything our family could ever want or need! I only had to unpack my clothes. The kitchen was spotless and spacious. We felt right at home. I was nervous about our arriving at night. While narrow, the paved roads were actually far superior to most of the mountains cabins that we have come across. We were shocked to have such an authentic mountain experience so close to town. The view! Seriously spectacular! The pictures do not do it justice. In addition, every room was well lit and equipped right down to pillows, blankets and quality linens. We appreciated the ‘Welcome Book’ in which we also left a detailed account of our gratitude. It was fun to read how many others had wonderfully unique experiences. The area features wonderful hiking, downtown shops and restaurants. Our favorite was Fortify and their sister pizza place, Fortify Pi. Great beds, spectacular views, sparkling accommodations…..we will be back, again and again. Thank you so much for sharing Black Bear Cabin with us. We are certainly refreshed upon our return to South Florida. See you again in a few months!
Such a delightful getaway! Tucked away and secluded, yet minutes from adorable downtown Clayton. Two porches provide a majestic view of the rolling mountains. (The changing fall leaves made it all the more beautiful!) The house is perfect for sharing with another family, as all 3 floors have their own bathrooms, providing privacy and space when needed. There is also plenty of seating for everyone when you cook up that big pot of chili or grill your fresh catch of trout. ? The kitchen was well-equipped, so we had everything we needed, even a high chair for the toddler! There are lots of fun adventures close by: trout farm, orchard, hiking trails, waterfalls, white water rafting, wineries, and zip lines. And when the day is done, you can come back and cozy up by the gas fireplace. Or enjoy s’mores at the firepit! If you’re looking for a beautiful respite with opportunities for adventure too, this is your place. We will be back!!
Needed a little earlier check in time. We had events on the day of arrival , and would have checked in day before but was booked. All turned out well.
Beautiful sitting and the home was spectacular and VERY clean. Will definitely be back.
What a getaway. This cabin was amazing - you felt like you were miles away from civilization with sweeping mountain views, but only minutes (literally, about 5-7 minutes) away from the grocery store, restaurants, and shops. We also immensely enjoyed the area which had nearby hiking, waterfalls, distilleries, and wineries. Everything in the cabin felt clean, fresh and new. Even the pots and pans were nice! We could not have asked for a better experience and look forward to coming back to Black Bear Cabin soon. We hope to be back in the fall!
I hate not giving this home 5 stars. The views are amazing and the house is superbly stocked!! However, the master shower had long dark hair all over the walls, there was less that a half a roll of toilet in each bathroom, less than a half a roll of paper towels, and one kitchen trash bag. I addressed this through the management companies app, by texting their text number and calling. The WiFi did not work meaning the TV never worked. Also called and tried to address this. Multiple calls, texts and app chats went unanswered- STILL unanswered. Good thing there was not an emergency. And on the last day, we woke up to find a mouse had gotten in to our bread. I left notes for the cleaning staff took pictures of everything, sent it all to the management company and have yet to hear anything. I would love to return to this home, but as long as it is being managed this way, I’m not sure any of the issues will be addressed. I have pictures of everything for documention of dates and times.
We had a wonderful experience. The owners have literally thought of Everything you need and didn’t know you needed. I can’t say enough nice things about our stay. The pics that are posted do not do it justice. This house will be on our revisit list again.
Every nook of this cabin was so delightful. So sunny and bright, breathtaking views, and well-stocked for all our needs and desires! Black Bear Cabin felt so remote, yet was conveniently located to wineries, downtown restaurants and shopping, a huge grocery store, and really amazing hiking! Everything was 10 mins or less away! I could and did spend hours on the porch. Looking forward to my next visit already!
