Stayed Oct 16, 2025House smelled like a basement with a septic issue upon entering. The thermostat would not turn on it turned out the contacts were so dirty that it would not turn on. This is something I would expect the owner to make sure before renting the home. There was hand soap in the shower. Lastly, there were no shower rugs for the slippery tile floor.

Stayed Nov 8, 2024I stayed here with my fiancé and some friends for a quick weekend trip to Boston and we were thrilled! The hosts were very communicative and the house was great. Rooms were clean and spacious and the location was just a quick uber to downtown. Would absolutely recommend.. would come here again if we are in the area.

Stayed Aug 16, 2024A group of us were in Boston for a close friend's funeral. The day before the trip we didn't receive check in instructions and had to message the host. When we arrived at the location, we found no parking on the street anywhere near the house. (The listing states parking on site). There was, however, a single motorcycle parked in the driveway. When we contacted the host about options for parking, there was no response. This would have been less of an issue if the neighborhood was safe, but it is NOT. We arrived to people outside playing loud music from their cars and witnessed a physical altercation in front of the house. We didn't feel very safe walking far in this neighborhood. Upon check in, one of the rooms was locked and we had to go through all of the door codes to figure out how to unlock it. We also found exposed heating elements in the bathroom, one of the mirrors was broken, and the railing for the balcony was broken and wobbly. To top everything off, we were surprised to find a turkey in the backyard. Yes, a real turkey. Had this been thanksgiving, we might have been a little happier to see it, but it was, in fact, August. Given the short notice for booking the trip, we didn't have time to do much research into the location. Regardless, we would have felt more safe with parking and maybe 1 less wild animal in the back yard. We paid for 2 nights and left soon after check in to stay in a hotel. The host refused a refund and VRBO did nothing. Avoid this place.

Stayed Jul 11, 2024Trip was during a heat wave and owner didn't turn on the AC before we arrived and the inside temperature was 84F. Even with all window AC units at max capacity, it took 24 hours to bring down the inside temperature to arround 76F. We requested fans from the owner but we didn't get any. The kitchen, with the gas stove, is like an oven in itself. No AC unit in the kitchen window and no fans either. If you cook, you'll reheat the place that you are desperately trying to cool down with the AC. Aside from the lack of ventilation and AC, the property is ok!

Stayed Jun 17, 2024It was not as close to the city of Boston as we thought it would be. We drove into Boston each day and it would take us 30 minutes to drive into the city. Driving around Boston is terrible with so much traffic. The neighborhood was not safe; we did not feel safe to walk to the metro. There were mice that ate our food. We called management and they set up mouse traps but they were never caught them during our visit. We had to keep all of our food in the fridge after the mice ate our two bags of bagels. The inside lights in the stairwell walking up to our house were out and we had to use flashlights on our phone. The yard was a mess and not kept up. The couch was broken. The table and chairs were dirty, old and stained. The only nice thing was that we could stay all together with our family. This was not a place where we wanted to come home too. Wish we had stayed at a hotel.

Stayed May 9, 2024Our family stayed here in early May 2024 while in Boston to attend our son's college graduation. There were six of us in total with plenty of bedroom space for all. The house was clean, comfortable, and suited our purposes while we were in town. There is a spacious basic kitchen. The house is a renovated older home. Note that the house is on the second and third floors (there seems to be a smaller apartment on the bottom floor). You have to navigate a staircase to get to the second floor house and then there is another narrow staircase to get to the bedrooms on the third floor. The house has a mix of old and new home features. There is a terrace off the living area so you can sit outside with your morning coffee if you like. We saw two wild turkeys walking around outside of the house each morning which was pretty cool to see. The location of the house is in Dorchester, which is just outside of Boston. It is very near a T station but we actually used an Uber to take us all around. The house felt safe but the neighborhood leading up to our block was a bit questionable so we would not recommend walking around at night. If you are arriving at night, it is pretty dark and we had some initial trouble locating the house so ask if they can leave a porch light on if you are arriving in the evening. We had a pleasant stay. The owners were very easy to communicate with and got back to us quickly.
