This was our 5th year at Lake Effect and as always we had an amazing time! I can’t recommend it enough: the location, beach, cleanliness, and overall set up can’t be matched!

Pure relaxation!

The house is beautiful and very clean. Oftentimes lake houses can smell musty, but not this one. I think it had a whole house dehumidifier. There were a couple of issues…1. The grill didn’t work. We cleaned it and had to change the tank. The burners would ignite but wouldn’t stay lit. 2. We had a hard time getting the tv to work, streaming and cable. 3. The a/c was tricky. The upstairs was comfortable but the ground floor bedrooms were freezing cold. This might have been related to the hot western sun coming thru the three picture windows, heating the upstairs. The location was great and the view was beautiful.

The house & property are beautifu, quiet, and very very comfortable. Loved the gorgeous lake view and the privacy. The trade-off is limited cell service and the need to drive for any activities. It's 10 min to Northport , but 30 min to Sutton's Bay and 50 min to Traverse City. Highly recommend visiting shops (including The Rock Shop) in Northport. Best food (breakfast & lunch only) is at New Bohemian cafe! Thanks again to our hosts.

Beautiful home. They took a lot of time and thought into their decor and remodel. The decor was as amazing as the view. Very peaceful and quiet and the owners were on the spot if needed. So relaxing sitting on the huge deck with a book and the sounds of birds and waves. All I can say is thank you for sharing your home.

We celebrated Thanksgiving at this lovely house on Cathead Bay. The wintry weather added to the magic of this amazing spot looking right out at Lake Michigan. The kitchen had all we needed and more. All bedrooms were comfortable. Short walk on a boardwalk from the house to the beach. Would love to return!

We rented this lovely home for a little fall getaway with our daughter and son-in-law and two precious pups. The home has a breathtaking view of Lake Michigan. It is very spacious, well maintained, and comfortable. If you choose to prepare your meals, all of the kitchen gear you need is available. But don’t miss out on the great dining options in Northport as well as other towns nearby. Do not hesitate to rent this gem. Enjoy!

We have stayed at this house several times, and we always enjoy it.

The house was very comfortable. The bed and linens were good quality and the kitchen was nicely stocked. The beach is close, in nice condition and very private. Amazing sunsets every night. The hosts were also very responsive. Overall a great experience and would recommend.

We spent a wonderful week here over the 4th of July. The house was extremely clean and welcoming. There was more than enough space for our family of 4, you could easily have a larger group and not feel crowded. The views from deck were amazing. We all enjoyed the beach and spent a lot of time down there. The kids could walk and walk in the water and only be up to their waist. The kitchen had everything we needed and then some, the dishes/pans are all in excellent shape and make cooking easy. We definitely recommend staying here. We were sad to leave.

Perfect location, especially if you want privacy and quiet, and the view of the bay is amazing. So peaceful.

What a trip! This home did not disappoint!! Great beds, clean home, beautiful water . The house is situated in the pines that opens up to a grassy area and a beautiful beach. Bon Fires, Kayaking, hiking trail just down the road. The sunsets are to die for and I was able to photograph the Milky Way and Northern lights right on the beach and decks. Calling all photographers, this place is the best! We loved it!!

Lake Effect has a beautiful dune view of Lake Michigan, with boardwalk access and stairs to the lake shore. There are two downstairs bedrooms which share a bathroom (shower) and a large upstairs bedroom with private bath (jetted tub). Nearby homes are close but visually screened by thick pine/cedar vegetation, unlike homes further south which have little vegetation. The kitchen was fully stocked with some unique glass drink & serviceware, and had everything we needed. The home also has a number of other unique glass & ceramic works, as well as other interesting artwork. The beach side of Lake Effect has three expansive windows with an awesome view, but unfortunately, several windows have broken seals with moisture which somewhat obscures the view. The sofa is also uncomfortably worn & soiled, and dining chairs are also uncomfortable and flimsy. Most everything was exceptionally clean with the exception of under the sofa, clumps of dog hair under the floor lamp at the side, and dusty dining chandelier. You might want to bring your own pillows, since the bed pillows are very lumpy. However, these last aspects are minimal, and the our overall stay was enjoyable. Just a few things to be aware of. Christina was very friendly and responsive.

The property is 15 min from the town of Northport, quiet, and private. The house has the most beautiful view of cathead bay and a private beach. It accommodates 3 couples nicely with 2 bedrooms and bath downstairs, and one bedroom and bath upstairs. The house has lovely, comfortable furniture, a well stocked kitchen, and outdoor equipment such as kayaks and bikes. We loved our stay!
