We rented here to attend the Highland Games, and it was a good choice, although pretty far from the location of the games. We would probably stay in a different area next time we attend the games. The house is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood and surrounded by large rhododendrons…. very beautiful, lush and private area. We enjoyed relaxing on the the large private back deck. We were very comfortable there. The only complaint I have is the kitchen, which is important to us, as we cook most of our meals at home. It was very unorganized and felt like everything came from a garage sale. The kitchen definitely needs some organization and updating. I think most people who stay here would enjoy a kitchen where they could cook, since it is far from any restaurants. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would probably stay here again.
I knew we were dooped when we arrived. The photos of the house are very deceiving. The steps into the house were rotten and the railing was so loose it was dangerous. The house is much smaller than the photos. I could not believe how deceiving the photos are. The house is so dark because of overgrown trees. The china was chipped and the kitchen was rundown. The bedroom is lovely, but the bed is in awe full shape. I thought the soaking tub would be the saving grace, but the hot water runs out long before the tub has enough water to bath in. We were so disappointed we were thinking of leaving early. We reported our concerns to the management and did not get a response. This is our 3rd year in Blowing Rock and we loved our previous homes.
This location put us right in the center of all of our adventures. The house was very comfortable and spacious. It really felt like a home.
