Our home is undoubtedly the most reasonably priced house on the beach. The only thing between our front row home and the beach is the dunes, our private dune deck, and our beach boardwalk. (Few Kiawah homes have decks in the dunes!) Walk out the door of our home and access Kiawah's spectacular ten mile beach and the glistening Atlantic Ocean in our backyard.

In the house, you can hear the surf and feel the ocean breeze. Staying DIRECTLY ON THE BEACH makes your vacation much more enjoyable...(and there are fewer hassles). You can put your beach gear out in the morning and leave it all day. (Since there is no parking anywhere near the beach, folks have to tote their gear across the island...unless they're staying right on the beach.) It is a luxury to be able to walk a few steps to the house for a drink or for lunch, to take a break from the sun, to check on your family or catch the news (or, if you must, check your email). Our dune deck is a wonderful spot for morning coffee, happy hour, sunbathing, and stargazing (it has a big sky view). You can also take your baby monitor and spend time under the sun or the moon, while keeping tabs on your sleeping or TV-watching children in the house.

The living room has ample, comfortable seating (2 sofas; 1 converts to a comfortable double futon). It has Smart TV with internet access (bring your streaming channel's logins) and wood-burning fireplace. The dining room seats eight and has a sideboard. The kitchen is well-equipped and has a bar with three stools at the window. The screened porch has a small dining table and five comfortable cushioned chairs.

The master bedroom has a very comfortable king bed, two dressers, occasional chair, smart TV/DVD. The second bedroom has a comfortable king bed & two dressers, Smart TV/DVD. The third bedroom has comfy twin beds, two dressers, Smart TV/DVD. Two baths, one with large shower and one with tub.

Cypress walls and ceilings and hardwood floors throughout give the house a warm, charming, beach house ambiance. The yard is large with stately live oaks and palm trees and there is a two-car carport. The side yard is fenced for dogs & bike parking. The house is clean and well-equipped. We do not provide beach chairs (but chairs and umbrellas can be rented on the beach).

Strolling the ten-mile long, pristine, wide Kiawah beach or swimming, boogie boarding, or body surfing in the calm Atlantic waters cannot be beat. Birdwatching (pelicans, egrets, herons, sand pipers, etc.), dolphin and shrimp boat watching, and wildlife/nature watching (alligators, deer, bobcats, etc.) are restful pastimes. Surf fishing, crabbing, and shrimping are some of the favorite activities on Kiawah. Kayaks, surf boards, and windsurfing gear can be rented on the beach. Canoes and kayaks can be rented on the Kiawah River.

Bicycling is a favorite activity. Rental bikes can be ordered in advance and delivered the day you arrive. There are 30 miles of bike trails all over the Island. There is now a nice bike trail off the Island, taking you to shops, Seabrook and Johns Island. Bikes MUST be put behind the wooden fence from sundown to sun up. Bohicket Marina, right off the Island, has restaurants, shops, boats for rent, parasailing, deep-sea fishing, beautiful sunsets, etc. Picturesque Freshfield's Market at the entrance to Kiawah offers restaurants, a bar, coffee shops, ice cream parlors, soda fountain, bookstore, outdoor outfitter, fashion boutiques, banks, great grocery store, Summer concerts on Friday nights, local produce at farmer's market, and much more. There is more to do than ever on Kiawah... or you can do absolutely nothing!!! There is a never-ending assortment of activities in neighboring Charleston and around the Low Country (museums, plantations, aquarium, Fort Sumter, shops, restaurants, theatre, etc.). Guests rave about Two Sisters Tours in Charleston. Kiawah is a gorgeous, tranquil, safe island, perfect for a family vacation. We'd love to rent our relaxing beachfront home to you.

ADDITIONAL RENTAL INFORMATION:
* Our home and property are Non-Smoking
* Our home is open to renters' pet dogs. But no aggressive breeds are allowed. Dogs must be well-trained and well-behaved. They must be freshly groomed and must not come into the house wet or sandy. They must be on flea preventative. They must not get on the furniture. They must not scratch the hardwood floors or doors and must not pop out the screens. All dog waste must be immediately bagged and put in the trash. Kiawah has a strict leash law and alligators have been known to eat free-roaming pets. There is a non-refundable fee PER PET. Allowing pets will be agreed upon on a per case basis.
* We strongly recommend that you purchase trip cancellation insurance to cover bad weather (such as hurricanes), illness, accidents, whatever, that might cause you to cancel or cut short your Kiawah vacation. Spending a few hundred dollars to protect your investment in renting our home assures that you will be covered if something unfortunate happens. My cancellation policy is strict and I do not consider refunds for late cancellations.
* Find our home at GoogleEarth: Type in 3 Eugenia Avenue, Kiawah Island, SC. Our home is directly below the box, not under the box. (32 degrees,35'33.38'N is the house, 32 degrees32'11'N is the deck).

If you plan to rent multiple Kiawah homes, know that our home is for the use of those staying in the home only. Bikes & cars for guests at other homes must not be parked overnight in our yard.

One renter wrote the following regarding allowing dogs in our home:

For anyone worried that a “dog-friendly” home would be covered in hair or smell like wet dog, I assure you that is NOT the case here. The house was spotless and we felt like our dog was the first one to ever stay there.

I love what one renter wrote to me:

“One word answers don’t seem adequate enough to describe our experience at Kiawah. Well actually one word does describe it, PERFECT!

“Was the house what I expected No, it was better. I had never rented over the internet before and wasn’t familiar with Kiawah and although exactly as stated on VRBO all I kept thinking on the 12 hour trip down was, ‘It sounds too good to be true. A house on the beach and they allow dogs. Something has got to be wrong.’ I worried the entire trip down. I was ecstatic and relieved to find the house charming, clean, and comfortable. I’ve been many places but never felt so at home. We all felt that way, even the dogs…

“We definitely want to rent again and again. I didn’t want to leave and considered squatting. If we ever win the lottery we will make you an offer with the promise never to ‘tear down’.

“If a genie told me I could have any house on Kiawah Island, 3 Eugenia would be my choice, it is the only one that looks like it belongs there and feels like a home. Thank you so much for sharing it!”

A recent renter wrote:

'Your home is one of the most comfortable places we have ever stayed. From the beds to the couches, it felt just like home.

'Your kitchen is very well equipped. I had forgotten the taste of charcoal burgers and s'mores.'

This house was perfect for our family. We especially loved how we could go straight to the beach without a car or wagon full of stuff! Cute retro vibe, comfortable beds, and well-stocked kitchen. I can’t find anything negative to say, and would recommend this house for those who want a simple and comfortable place directly on the beach.

Our family has been coming to Kiawah for 30 years so we’ve stayed in many houses. Even though this is one of the oldest homes, it’s very clean and well maintained. We loved the vintage charm and appreciate the history of the house. If you’re looking for close access to the beach, you can’t go wrong. It has its own private boardwalk right behind the house. A few other bonuses include newer appliances, a walk-in shower and plenty of parking space. The owner was very helpful and easy to communicate with.

Had an excellent time. 2nd year in a row staying at this property. It is a perfect location on quiet Eugenia right on the beach. Just big enough for our family of 5 + my parents. Despite a hurricane, we made the best of it.

As Kay states in her VRBO description, staying right on the beach with direct access simply cannot be beat!! From hitting the waves quickly to sitting on the beach at night looking at the stars and moon - fabulous!! Everything was just as described, and I thought the home was larger than appeared online. The house was very clean, neat, very well organized and labeled. No surprises as Kay gives you all the info you need before you get there. We had a blast, and found the house to be well located for all activities. Get to know the bike paths, they will get you everywhere and anywhere quick! Thank you Kay!!!

We enjoyed this home and its direct beach access. We also enjoyed the seating area on the dunes along the walkway to the beach when the temperature dropped. The dog friendly policy allowed us to vacation with our pups and the back hose made it convenient to rinse the sand off them . A comfortable stay for us and a fun week fishing and enjoying the ocean.

We visited Kiawah for the third time and finally got to stay on the beach. The location is what makes this property a winner. While the house is classically charming and very clean, the proximity to the ocean can’t be beat. Nice screened in porch made evenings peaceful while listening to the waves. Fully stocked kitchen. All the modern appliances you need. Nice private boardwalk in good shape. Beds were comfy. Showers with good water pressure. Fans in all rooms were a nice feature. Would’ve preferred updated furniture in the living room. We ordered beach service for beach chairs and umbrellas which was ideal. So nice to not lug a bunch to the beach and set up tents etc.
