Clayton, New York
Rum Point is located on the head of Grindstone Island, the largest of the 1000 Islands without bridge access to the mainland. Grindstone is only accessible by boat, and large parts of the island are either preserved wilderness or local farms, which make for beautiful settings for walks, bike rides, and hikes in the interior of the island. Rum Point is a gorgeous summer property, originally established in the late 1890s and rebuilt in the 1960s. The house overlooks the River and is both elegant and cozy. All its rooms are ample and have views of the water. The distinct tower design provides a panoramic view of the River from the master bedroom as well as from the living room. The outside porch is ideal for meals while enjoying the beautiful surroundings. The ping pong table in the playroom is always a hit!
Rum Point is great for swimming and other water activities such as water skiing and kayaking. It is located in a relatively secluded area of the River and it has deep water around it, which also makes for good docking. The swimming area is shared with the owners and possibly other guests of the other house on the property.
The rental includes one docking space for a boat of up to 21'. An additional docking space may be provided for a separate fee, pending availability. No boats or equipment are included in the rental - these can be rented from Marinas in the nearby town of Clayton, NY.
