The house can be used for holidays in summer and winter, as it has modern insulating glass windows, underfloor heating in 2 rooms, an open fireplace in the living room and electric heating in the bedrooms. A room in the basement, also with a fantastic view, has a sep. Bathroom with toilet and shower. It has a separate entrance. The kitchen is modern with a particularly large oven at eye level, ceramic hobs, dishwasher and washing machine with integrated dryer. The rooms are all tastefully andindividually decorated. You feel very quickly 'at home' and not like in a strange holiday home. Towels and bed linen are sufficiently available. Telephone, television, DVD player and internet are available. The garden has 2 levels, is terraced and wonderfully designed with old dry stone walls and stone stairs. In addition to the large terrace, there is also a stone table and a stone bench under a vine arbor on the upper garden level with a wonderful view of the lake.
It is a 10-minute drive to Cannobio, so you can shop very cheaply and the strong Swiss franc doesn't bother you.

This property has a big problem that you only realise on arrival. There are 134 narrow and steep steps (around 8 storeys) to climb to bring up your luggage (and groceries during your stay). When travelling with an infant and a pregnant wife this is far from ideal. Once you make it up, though, the view pays off the climb. It is stunning! However, mosquitoes won't let you enjoy it for long. Those little things are vicious! Another issue we found was that the garden was not fenced so or daughter and dog could run away easily. In addition, the two levels of the garden are connected by steep, narrow staircases without handrail. I cannot recommend the house for small kids or dogs just for this reason. The positive side of the house is its cleanliness and the amount of stuff that you can use (if you speak German you can enjoy a vast selection of books). The kitchen is well equipped despite its small size and we only found it lacking a microwave oven. At night it got quite hot and it was difficult to cool down the house without inviting vicious mosquitoes for supper. I would only recommend when travelling light for a couple of days and without small kids.

Without question, this house has a magnificent view of Lake Maggiore. Truly breathtaking. BUT - do not overlook the fine print. There are 140 steps to climb, which was no easy task for us, as we had several bags to hike up. Definitely not for anyone who has difficulty with stairs (or isn't in pretty good physical shape!). Beyond that, the house was well appointed and comfortable. We were there in early June, though, and there were more than a few insects who wanted to join us inside.
