Casa Casale is idyllic for relaxing and enjoying the mountains in the southern part of Tuscany. A traditional Tuscan house, located in a peaceful area at 700 m above sea level with 25 hectares of land extending to the valley. Impeccable location for families and small groups as it offers a lot of space and options for all needs: enjoying each others’ company, sports and games, and for relaxation lay back and forget the world. The hiking paths start as you step out of the door, near to Cortona leading to many cities of artistic, cultural and historic interest in southern Tuscany and Umbria. These are also easily accessible by car.

Facing the eastern side of the lake there is a large flat square, with great views of the countryside and the mountains,
A covered garage for 3 cars, a table tennis table shaded by a 60 sq.m pergola with wisteria where you can sit and dine comfortably even in the warm midsummer climate.
The southern side has a paved 80 sq.m terrace with a table, sun loungers and an almond tree that gives shade, where there is a sun kissed dining area, sheltered in the autumn and springtime. In the garden there are a few terraces with chairs and sun loungers.
The pool (9 x 4.5 m), with solarium, features sun loungers, parasols and shower, as well as two charming terraces which you can stumble across as you take a step down from the house with picturesque views, infused with the scents of lavender, thyme and rosemary. Poolside there are swings for children and a large grassy area with a volleyball net and the old horse riding school nearby, ideal for any type of ball game imaginable. Garden, terraces, pergolas and swimming pool are at your disposal.
The house was completely renovated at the turn of the century, with typical ceilings with wooden beams, terracotta floors and Tuscan country house chimneys, but it also offers contemporary and modern facilities. This house has been in the Attwood family for over 25 years and has a lot of old photos, books and furniture that create a unique atmosphere; warm and comfortable.
From the Piazza, you step through the main door towards the cloakroom and the stone staircase to get to the first floor. Here you will find a warm trattoria-style kitchen with an antique marble table where the 'mammas' rolled out the sheets of pasta; in addition there is a fully fitted kitchen. Whilst waiting for your meal, you can have a glass of wine next to the chimney, or surf the internet from the desk in front of the windows. Through the cloakroom there is direct access to two bedrooms (both with double beds made with Tuscan steel, and one with an extra sofa bed) and a bathroom with WC and bidet. A small bedroom with two single beds can be found along the corridor that leads to the second floor.

On the second floor there are two more bedrooms, a bathroom and a living room (45 sq.m) where you can make a fire and relax on one of the sofas, watch TV or a DVD after doing sporting activities or cultural excursions. Or indeed you can take a pew at the chestnut table and play board or card games.

In the old stables and storeroom on the lower floors there is the separate lodging for the housekeepers with a private entrance and garden at the rear of the house. The couple who manage the property maintain the pool, the garden and the property and are always ready to help out and full of all sorts of useful information. You will be able to enjoy the delicious Tuscan specialities and the products from the garden. Cleaning is charged separately.

The house belongs to John and Sabine who have spent alot of time here with their son Robby, although they live in Munich. John, who grew up in Kenya, trained in England, where he worked in many places as a builder and carpenter and he has renovated our house with a lot of love and attention. Since we retired we have taken charge of running and renting out the house.

Our hosts were very gracious and concerned that we had all we needed for a good stay. They even brought us a basket of vegetables from which we made a great soup. We loved the peace and quiet of the area and the views as the daylight changed. So good to have a wash machine and a place to easily dry clothes. This beautiful traditional old Tuscan villa has all the amenities needed for modern life.

I can’t even describe how beautiful this villa is . The first day I walked out of the house into the patio to the smell of wisteria and the sound of bees . It was incredibly relaxing and we fixed wonderful meals and spent time around the pool . There was plenty of room for our family and everyone left feeling rested . There are so many things to do close by. We highly recommend this villa to anyone who will be staying in the region

A wonderful property, submerged in beautiful natural surroundings, the flora and fauna were fantastic. Our whole family were delighted by the swifts, starlings and kestrels nesting at the property, my parents described the place as simply magical. Wonderful location for my Father's 80th birthday celebrations, John and Sabine are welcoming and warm hosts. We all felt very relaxed in this comfortable, spacious home. The outside is as well equipped as inside with lots of seating and a great pool to enjoy. To awake each morning to the view of the woodland and sounds of nature and breath deep, wonderful. A huge thank you to our lovely hosts.

If you are looking for a perfect Villa in Tuscany, this is it. Set in a magical hillside location, the view from the pool is a magnificent panorama of the Tuscan countryside. The house itself easily has four large double bedrooms and one twin. It's ideal for groups - there's space for large social gatherings as well as different areas to provide privacy for separate groups. We can't wait to go back one day!

We were 2 families (4 adults, 5 children) and we really enjoyed our stay at this fantastic villa for a week. Both the inside and the outside of the villa is decorated with respect to the house and the surroundings. The view of the valley is fantastic. We would gladly, with out any reservations, recommend the house to anyone and we would be happy to come back again.

We had a fabulous time in our 3 weeks at Casale Palazzo. We were travelling through Italy with a 4 year old, 2 year old and 6 month old and had arranged for two separate groups of friends to come and visit us while we were there. At the most we had two other adults with a 12 year old, 10 year old and an 8 year old. The first thing to say is that the house has an incredible view…mountains, greenery, and barely another house in sight. The house is a beautiful old villa that has been lovingly restored over decades by the owners, John and Sabine, who are on hand to offer advice on things to do, and- in our case- kindly had our children get involved in helping with planting the veggie garden and tractor rides!! The house is fully equipped with everything we could think of (and easily sleeps two families with lots of space), and the grounds are fantastic- a lovely big sun terrace, an expansive front garden, an area with hammocks, a huge grassy paddock (once a menagerie) now equipped with a volleyball/football/badminton net, a lovely pool with plenty of sun loungers…and views that are extraordinary in every light. The house is 10 km up a mountain road, but the drive is easy, and the location well worth it. It is close to Cortona, a beautiful walled town (setting for Under Tuscan Sun film), and trips to Montepulciano, Sienna, Florence, Rome, the hot pools at Rappolano Terme, and lots of other places are all within distance…and if we could handle it with three small children in the car, it should be fine for you!! It is a true destination property. We were very sad to leave!

I have just had a great stay at Palazzo Casale near Cortona and I only have good things to say. The house is light, spacious, peaceful, tastefully furnished in a comfortable rustic style and has everything you need for a relaxing stay...terraces, garden, pool, walks, magical views, fully equipped facilities in the house and enough room for up to 10 to twelve people comfortably. The house is well-maintained and clean but as the owners live on site in a separate apartment, it has the feel of a home...past photos of the house, well-thumbed books...... The house is about 15 minutes from Cortona by car but there is a great pizza restaurant on the way. There are many walks nearby and the house is well situated for both a lazy quiet stay but near enough to Cortona to go for dinner, shopping, spend a morning etc If you are lucky enough to coincide with the owners they can be as discreet or as helpful as you need them to be......The house is organised in such a way that if they are there sometimes it is only obvious because you can see their car! They are a great source of information, kind and approachable! Spring is a great time to stay as weather is beautiful and good enough to eat outside sometimes, the trees are starting to blossom and there are fewer people around....Magical hearing the cuckoos in the morning..... The house also has great Internet in case you have to keep in touch with work as I did..... To sum up, I would have absolutely no doubts recommending this house for a family stay or for a large group of friends....at any time of the year.
