Located 90 minutes from the Orlando area, 60 minutes from Jacksonville, St. Augustine or Daytona, this area, known as the “Bass Fishing Capital of the World, has a lot going on including not only bass but many salt water species as well, hiking in the nearby Welaka State Forest or Dunn's Creek State Park, bird and alligator watch on the nearby famous Oklawaha River, boating to Silver Glenn Springs or Salt Springs, ferry over to Ocala National Forest, numerous restaurants and bars nearby such as Renegades Tiki Bar and Restaurant, River Pub, Shrimps R Us, marinas, bait, boat rentals and even the 18 hole Live Oak Golf Course.
We have actually heard about this area for years and have other friends that have stayed there and at this house and we really enjoyed it ourselves! Karen, her house, and the sunsets were awesome!
Everything was as advertised. Very clean and beautiful location!
This is our 2nd stay at this beautiful home. The location is ideal for a quick run to Lake George, yet plenty of time on the St. Johns River too. The sunset views from this home are spectacular. The owners have done a fantastic job of making sure you have anything available that you could possibly need and they definitely have an eye for decorating a home from wall hangings to furniture. It felt more like a home than a rental.
Karen’s property is a beautiful home with the most gorgeous sunset views. The dock is huge and perfect for fishing and watching wildlife. The kitchen is 5 stars and has everything you need. The only thing we couldn’t find was a blender so I’d bring one if you need it!
Owners are a very nice person. Quiet around, except Friday and Saturday evenings, but not late noisy, I mean “ music “
If you are looking for a rental in the Lake George/ St Johns River area, this house is perfect. My husband and I have rented many VRBO’s, and we both agree this was the best. The house is clean, newly remodeled, very comfortable beds and the living room has reclining sofas that are perfect for weekend football games. The kitchen is incredibly well stocked and the screened in porch has nice furniture and is a perfect spot to read a book. We rented a boat and tied it to the dock so we could fish and enjoy the lake. It is a great spot with an abundance of wildlife. Although we didn’t catch a record bass, we did catch plenty of other fish. This is a neat area, yes it is a bit rural, but if your looking to get away from the strip malls of Florida and see what it’s really like in the sunshine state this is your spot. Karen is a great host and we appreciate the opportunity to make memories here.
House very clean, all the amenities needed for a 9 day stay. Enjoyed the dock to moor the boat and fish cleaning station. Very nice getaway. Thanks Karen
Our first VRBO experience! This is a lovely home in a great location. Home is clean and spotless, everything you could need is there. Not terribly far from a grocery store, and a dollar store very close by for any essentials you may have forgotten to pack. Perfect location on the river. Great dock, lots of wildlife, near restaurants. Wonderful experience, we are ready to go again!
Nice riverfront retreat. Well furnished and great location for boating adventures. We will book this location again.
My husband and I decided to take a last-minute long weekend away. We were lucky enough to find this gem of a rental. It exceeded our expectations and provided the restful weekend we were hoping for. We ate at the River Pub and Shrimp R Us, both just five minutes away. They did not disappoint. We canoed down Juniper Springs one day and we hired a guide to take us bass fishing on the St. John's River one day. Captain Don Weaver knows where the fish are and has been a guide in this area for over 20 years. We we're even lucky enough to catch a bass from the dock just outside the house. But our most favorite part of the weekend was coffee on the porch and sunsets on the dock. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway then don't hesitate to spend it at this river house. You'll be glad you did.
