Bristol, Maine
This beautiful, well-appointed home sits on John's Bay facing west. Read more about the property here: https://kdbams27.wixsite.com/website. The home has an open floor plan with huge sliders leading to a deck that overlooks the shoreline. You enjoy the gorgeous sunsets, listen to the waves, watch the lobster boats haul in their catch, or simply observe the many species of birds as they go about their business.
The house is an easy walk or drive to Pemaquid Beach, but also has a small sandy beach that is part of the association where you can build sandcastles, hunt for sea glass and seashells, and dip your toes into the water. Also close by are locations where you can rent kayaks and stand-up paddleboards, golf, and hike.
The house sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms. The two spacious upstairs rooms each have king-sized beds (with brand-new mattresses in summer 2020!), while there is a queen in one downstairs room and a queen and a bunkbed in the other. Three of the bedrooms have large-screen televisions that are Internet- or cable-connected. All three baths have showers and two of those have tubs (one jacuzzi tub!).
The open living room has a large and comfy sectional and wood-burning stove. It is a great place to settle down for a movie on the large-screen TV after the day ends. The adjoining kitchen area includes a dining table with room for 8. The cherry wood and granite appointed kitchen has a large island and is fully equipped with Sub Zero refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, oven, and gas stove. The kitchen is also equipped with coffee maker, kitchenaid mixer, Instant Pot, Breville blender, and other accessories with a Traeger smoker just outside. Additionally, there is a washer and dryer and multiple Alexas in the house.
The beautiful Pemaquid Lighthouse is less than two miles from the house and there are multiple lobster pounds and restaurants in the immediate area. Hardy Boat Cruises takes visitors to Monhegan Island and on seal and puffin watches. The villages of Boothbay Harbor, Damariscotta, and Wiscasset are in easy driving distance for sightseeing and fun activities.
Both pups and people enjoyed our stay at this comfortable, cozy and well-loved home with a stunning back porch view of Johns Bay. Our host was welcoming, kind and communicative. With the benefit of a stretch of beautiful, sunny weather we visited local sites - Pemaquid Point Lighthouse and Beach (...no dogs allowed unfortunately), New Harbor and Shaw's Fish & Lobster Wharf, and took a day trip to Monhegan Island with the ferry - be prepared for some challenging hiking if you want to make you way out to the cliffs. Some delicious meals cooked in the well-equipped kitchen, and starry skies seen from the hot-tub, rounded out a memorable week. It was a great way for us to spend quality time with our friends. Thanks!
The setting of the home is amazing! Views from the house and deck couldnt be better, and the landscaping along the shoreline is great, including the access to a small beach area. One can walk along the shore past neighboring houses in the community. The house is spacious with 4 bedrooms, but we only used the 2 downstairs. The area is great, and we especially enjoyed the smaller, working fishing harbors, such as New Harbor, Round Pond, and Pequamid. Each has a great fresh lobster/seafood place, too, where we enjoyed many meals. Loved our time here and wish it were loger!
House is located in small, peaceful neighborhood. View from back porch is breathtaking! 180 degrees of water and wonderful sunsets!! Lovely grass path to little beach and along water. Great for short dog walks. Kristin is very helpful and responsive to questions or needs. Would definitely stay here again!
we were very grateful to take our pet with us. Kristen was quite thoughtful. She left us a welcoming gift including treats for our dog. We enjoyed the hot tub and the Elliptical!!!
