Stayed Oct 10, 2025The property is located on a very low traffic back alley. Parking was right across the street. We enjoyed our 2 night stay. Seemed like a very nice, safe area.

Stayed Oct 3, 2025There's not actually a lake view but it is only a block or so from the lake. Easy walking gets one there! At night the path through the area is beautifully lighted. The cottage was clean & met our needs for comfort. A lakeside restaurant is nearby as well as others in the near vicinity. It was peaceful sleeping in comfortable beds!Hosts were (eventually) attentive to several questions.Attention to detail is obvious by decorating choices.Rebooking in the future if possible!

Stayed Aug 28, 2025Enjoyed our stay. Little communication glitch about the wifi. The information in the VRBO listing is incorrect. However, the information is correct in the check in folder. It was fine for our needs.

Stayed Aug 28, 2024I spent every summer of my childhood in Oakwood, so I know the cottage well. It used to belong to Rev. Ross Cook. My grandparents were George and Marie Cook (no relation to Rev. Cook) and they built the cottage at 1019 S Lake Dr. They worked at the old hotel every summer for decades. My dad also worked there during his teen years and so did I. I loved the view of the park. I spent so many happy hours there as a kid, and my granddaughters had just as much fun as I ever did. So, I am not your typical visitor. I was not looking for the excitement and rush of the modern world. I was looking for the simple quietness of lake life that I grew up with and this cottage provided that in spades! There is a sense of stepping back in time that was exactly what I needed at this time in my life. My son felt it too, because yes, he also spent the 1st ten summers of his life at Oakwood with my Grandma before she passed. There is only one thing I would suggest -- a microwave. I'm the only one who knew what the toaster oven was, but even I wasn't sure how to use it (haven't used one since the early 1980s) ?. I highly recommend a stay in this cottage but you should do so with the intention of unplugging and enjoying the slow pace of lazy summer lake days. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Stayed Jul 20, 2024We love this property. This was our second year in a row to be here for the week with our family of four. It’s just right for us. No frills or extras but very comfortable and sufficient. The location is ideal for us as our entire extended family stays in Oakwood Park for the week. The kitchen has any amenity that could be needed. We hope to stay again next year. Thanks again for another week.
