Anchorage, Alaska
This is our primary residence, and we make it available for rental when we will be traveling out of state. We are a family of five -- mom and dad, two teenage boys, grandma and one dog. Our house is a 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom house in Goldenview Park, one of Anchorage's best neighborhoods. You'll enjoy gorgeous inlet and mountain (and volcano) views and stunning sunsets from the main living space and bedrooms. On a clear evening, you can see as many as three volcanoes across Cook Inlet as you stand on the deck off the master bedroom! Enjoy coffee on the backyard patio by the gas firepit! Cook out on our gas grill, or just hang out on the deck to enjoy the sunshine! The kitchen is large, and is well-stocked with pots and pans, dishes and flatware, baking dishes and cookie sheets, etc. We have two TVs and Apple TV, so you can select from movies or tv shows on Netflix, Hulu, or Peacock. You can also rent movies on Apple TV if you have an apple id. The house has four bedrooms: the master bedroom has a cal king bed and an en suite bathroom; there are two other upper floor bedrooms -- one with a queen size bed and one with a full size bed -- which are joined by a full bathroom. On the main floor, the fourth bedroom has a queen bed. In the living room, there is a sofa bed. The main floor has a full bathroom and a laundry room as well as kitchen, dining and living space. The ground floor has a small gym space and a full bathroom. Our house has a three car garage and a wide driveway for additional parking. There is no parking allowed overnight on the streets of our neighborhood.
The neighborhood is in south Anchorage, and is very unique from its covered bridge at the entry to the neighborhood to the sidewalks throughout (which is unusal for Anchorage), which makes for great walks without being on the road with cars. There is a playground in the neighborhood for the kids, and pets are welcome, although guests must abide by the HOA rules, which means you can't have more than two dogs, your dogs have to be leashed when outside, and you have to pick up after them. You are about 15 minutes to midtown Anchorage, 20 minutes to the airport, 35 minutes to Girdwood (a lovely mountain town which doubles as our local ski resort), and a 10-15 minutes drive to several trailheads for hiking and mountain biking. We have several bikes here that you are free to use also. Our house is 5 minutes from Seward Highway, which will take you to points south of Anchorage such as Girdwood, Whittier, Hope, Seward and Homer. There are hiking, camping, rafting and fishing opportunities galore in Southcentral Alaska, and there is train service daily to Seward, Whittier and to Spencer Lake, which is a glacier-fed and iceberg filled lake at the terminus of a piedmont glacier only accessible by train. Too many activities to mention, so if you need help planning your trip, feel free to contact us!
We enjoyed a beautiful stay in South Anchorage. It was super easy to connect with the owners and the property was lovely. The views from the top floors of the front of the house we amazing. The owners offered some of their freshly grown herbs out back which we used a bit off. Plenty of room for our family to have their own space while traveling. It was a great experience and highly recommend this place while in Anchorage.
The Amy's home was warm and inviting and is located in a wonderful neighborhood. The home was well equipped and had everything we needed.
The home was amazing. Everything was lovely. Bed were comfortable, there was a ton of space for 7 of us, and it had everything we needed. It was also in an amazing area that had a lovely view of the water. Check in was seamless and Barbara and Scott were communicative, helpful hosts. Highly recommended and would definitely stay again!
