Short version of review: This is the best vacation home I have ever stayed in. Highly recommended. Longer version of review: The word nice means different things to different people. When a person says they were at a nice hotel, they may mean a Comfort Inn, or a Westin, or a Ritz Carlton, or the St. Regis in Bora Bora. When the word nice is used to describe this house, it is in at least the Ritz Carlton sense, and if you are looking for a mountain lake vacation i'd say it is in the St. Regis at Bora Bora sense. The interior is every bit as nice as it looks in the pictures. The things you can't see in the pictures are equally nice. The cookware is All Clad; the kitchen knives are high quality and sharp. The beds and bed linens are excellent. There is radiant heat in the bathrooms and the shower in the master bath is heavenly. Everything is very clean. The house is, certainly by the standards of vacation homes, very, very well stocked. As good as the interior is, I would say that the exterior is better. The lake is gorgeous. The house comes with paddleboards, kayaks, etc. We were there between Xmas and New Years and, with wetsuits, were able to enjoy the lake. Outside of the lake, the landscaping here is amazing. It has a bunch of white sand beaches and private trails: several miles of nicely maintained and marked paths right on the property. It is like someone put a metropark into their (huge) backyard. If you have people in your group who are less mobile but want to do a mountain lake vacation, this is a very good choice. The house is only about 10 feet above the lake level, and the lake is easy to get to (most other mountain lake homes in this area seem to have a long staircase to descend to get to the lake). The paths are well groomed and easy to get to. And if you have people in your party who are training for an ironman, the swimming in the lake is great, and there is no shortage of hilly runs. Beyond the property - the property manager/concierge and owner were both a pleasure to interact with. I don't really have any negatives on the home. One caution: this house is in a remote area. Once you enter the reserve it is about a four mile drive on mountain roads to get to the house. It is hilly and winding, and there are no guardrails. We are city folk and it took getting used to. Just drive slowly, and I recommend trying to arrive in daylight. The drive is worth it.
