Quintessential Maine Beach House. Located on 7 miles of sandy Ferry Beach. Tucked away in a beachside neighborhood and bordered by two dead end streets (street in front of the house is a sand dune). This is a great spot for families. Very little to no vehicle traffic. Newly updated house (video is pre-renovation) bedrooms totally renovated with a new additional 3/4 bathroom . The master bathroom has been expanded with a tub and new vanity. New windows, wall mounted tvs in all the rooms with WIFI. Netflix and Amazon Prime is provided for guests. All new furniture, bedding, and mattresses. Clean and updated! Bed linens and bath towels provided.
The house is adjacent to the Ferry Beach Conference Center. The Center does have symposiums, workshops, faith-based retreats, and family oriented events. I would encourage potential guests to Google Ferry Beach Conference Center and see what it is about. Guests staying at the house can use the adjacent playgrounds, beach store, and ice cream stand and are encouraged to walk the center grounds. There is also a chapel across the street that you are welcome to attend. Quiet time in the neighborhood is from 11PM to 7AM. This is not a house for all night parties or wild guests. House is perfect for a couples get away or families with children.
Ferry Beach is a gorgeous 7 mile beach that is very popular with folks-oftentimes people will walk the beach at sunrise and you may hear them. This is not the lone house on seven miles of secluded beach. You will hear beach noise; surf pounding, seagulls, and beach users especially if the windows are open. Nor is the house in a crowded neighborhood; two sides are pine forest/sand dunes and the other two sides have a 8 foot privacy fence.
This is a private beach owned by the Conference Center that house guests are allowed to use and share. Because of this, there will be some conference folk using the beach boardwalk. But because the beach is private, you will have plenty of room to spread out unlike Old Orchard Beach, the public beaches in Saco in York, Wells, and Kittery where you are literally blanket to blanket with folks. The most people I have seen using the beach was maybe 20. This is in stark contrast to some of the public beaches in Maine where it can quite crowded. There is also a life-guard at the beach daily from 11am to 5pm or unless posted otherwise.
If you want absolute quiet and solitude, a lake house on a secluded lake might make more sense for your vacation needs. Or if all night parties is what you want, Old Orchard Beach would offer plenty of that. This house offers neither of these. Its a beach house located right on the waters edge in a secluded safe neighborhood with spectacular ocean views and its great for families. But like all beach towns in Maine in the summer, its popular and there will be other folks using the beach, whether neighbors on conference center attendees.
For those concerned with noise-house has new windows and the walls have been insulated. There are also air-conditioning units in 2 of the bedrooms and one in the living room. I have also added high end blinds and white noise machines to all of the bedrooms. When I stay there, I sleep with the windows and blinds open simply because listening to the pounding surf all night (its right outside the window) is awesome and watching the red morning sun rise over the horizon is something I cannot put into words its so beautiful. To be quiet honest, most of my noise issues were the seagulls.
Conference Center attendees are members and the center is far far from being a wild seasonal camp as seen in other parts of Saco or Old Orchard Beach. Many families have been coming to the Ferry Beach Conference Center for generations. I liken the center to a waterfront spiritual retreat. You are welcome to join and to be honest I would encourage you to do so. This house is not Old Orchard packed with folks. Its a quite beach that does see use from both the conference center and the surrounding neighborhood.
Beach house has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
Bedrooms-bedroom one-full sized bed, bedroom two-full sized bed, and bedroom three-two twin beds. Full kitchen includes all kitchen appliances such as utensils, cooking implements, flatware and Keurig coffee maker. Full bath with fresh towels, linens and toiletries, free WiFi internet, flat-screen cable TV with programming options, private porch and patio furniture.
Outside shower (not enclosed) is available and the property has two dedicated parking spots and a BBQ is available.
We have also provided our guests with the following beach equipment for use; beach umbrella, beach chairs, a cooler, and a beach cart. There are a few step-ups in the cottage, one step between the bedrooms and living room and one step between the kitchen side porch/laundry area.
What we like about this house is its quiet yet central location. Ferry Beach is a forgotten corner of Maine but with lots to offer. Often overshadowed by its more popular neighbor Old Orchard Beach (OOB). The house is located between two great spots to visit; Saco Town Pier (Camp Ellis) and Old Orchard Beach. Nearby Ferry Beach State Park also offers numerous hiking trails to explore.
Feeling adventurous Head up to Old Orchard Beach and see a seaside vacation town in all its splendor. A popular tourist destination, there is a public pier and several amusements parks as well and in the summer, OOB is quite popular with the French Canadians. The Brunswick Inn is a fun spot for adults and the area is a good location to people watch. Or wanting a more low key local trip Head to Camp Ellis and enjoy a good meal by the Town Pier, Huots is a local icon known for its good food and quaint atmosphere. The Town Pier has a town jetty and is known for its good fishing and fishing charters. There are also several lobster pounds in the area.
The trolley is the best way to get around locally. A trolley runs up and down the main street every 30 minutes so no need to drive or deal with parking. The trolley has numerous routes and is very affordable. A favorite trip of ours is to walk up to Old Orchard Beach at dusk and take the trolley home. Trolley is a 1 minute walk from the cottage.

My vacation with my two kids, husband and my parents was so much fun !! The house is perfect!! Clean, spacious, newly updated , and right on the beach !! I had no problems staying here and would recommend this to anyone. We hope to stay again !!
Really nice home on dead end street. Beautifully decorated. Well appointed.
The house in Saco was very nice, renoved, with everything we needed. Mark make sure we were all set. The beach was clean and not too crowded. Only little thing, there is a camp with family just next to the house and they wake up early ( 7:00 every morning and a bit noisy) but they were polite. We loved our week and would return anytime!!! Thank you for your house, we only have good memories of this week!!!
This is a beautifully updated 3 bedroom property with brand new everything. 2 lovely bathrooms, immaculate kitchen, washer and dryer, comfortable beds, well appointed linens and ample towels. It truly is steps to the beach. And the beach is lovely and private. Mark was a responsive host when we had a problem with the fire detectors, he had an electrician there the next day and gave us a gift certificate to dinner for our inconvenience. We really enjoyed the outdoor fire pit and brand new grill. The only draw back to our stay was that the property is located in a family camp ground and the campers woke us up before 7 every morning with yelling on their way to the beach. If you are an early riser, then don't let that stop you. This truly is a gem of a property.
It should be made clear to future renters exactly where this house is located. Yes it’s on the beach — gorgeous views, sound of the waves crashing at night, beautiful sunrise. However, its also completely surrounded by the Ferry Beach Retreat and summer camp. The summer camp is mostly teenagers and they were loud, disrespectful, and ruined many parts of our vacation. They are up and on the beach anytime between 5-7am yelling, screaming etc. making it impossible to sleep in especially since there’s no AC and you have to sleep with the windows open. They also do some of their “ceremonies” at night on the beach and in the street right outside the house. Our final night there were 50 kids standing 2 ft from our car and 5 ft from our kids bedroom window until 11pm when I finally called the police and they came and told them they had to move. Our entire vacation we felt as though we were involuntarily attending the camp. The owners are extremely easy to get in touch with and accommodating of any concerns we had. They put a lot of money and effort into remodeling this home and it shows. The house is beautifully and thoughtfully designed. The beds and linens were SO comfortable, the bathrooms are well appointed with fluffy towels, the kitchen has everything you need. There’s a nice deck and grill in the backyard and a gas firepit in the front of the house with Adirondack chairs perfect for roasting marshmallows. The house itself is exactly what you would picture for a perfect little beach house. I would suggest the owners add window AC units so renters can close the windows at night and block out the noisy campers.
