Matagorda, Texas
This beachside bungalow is nothing fancy, but sure to amaze you with its fabulous views and sounds of the ocean waves. Enjoy the peaceful sunrise or sunset from the screened in patio, or head on over to the beach at just a 10 minute walk or a 1 minute drive to the beach park at the end of our street!
The bedroom has a king sized bed, and in the common area there is a queen and a full size bed. There is a fully stocked kitchen, as well as a full bathroom and 2 separate patios - one patio is screened in.
There is an outdoor shower to rinse off after the beach, a charcoal grill for guests to use and a Keurig coffee maker. The kitchen is stocked with the essentials, and all linens are provided. Wifi is also provided.
I’ll definitely be back.
This spot was exactly what we needed. The house was nothing fancy but perfect for us. Comfortable home and bed. Great and peaceful view. Short drive to the beach and quiet street.
Returned for another year at the rental. Has all the essential for being at the beach and just enough space to spread out.
The beach house was very comfortable and well stocked with all the kitchen appliances, pots and pans, etc. Downstairs had a nice little grill and chairs. We enjoyed that it had a screened in porch as well as non screened. Very well kept. Perfect for a family and kids. Only downfall is we had two couples and the only bathroom was accessible only thru the bedroom. So a privacy issue. The shower was way too small for grownups. Other than that, a perfect little beach house.
Location, accommodations and check-in were as expected. Chicken process was smooth The property is completely sufficient but we wouldn't stay here again, even if it was free unless the owners and managers had commenced a rigorous mosquito fogging reduction campaign. Friends own a house down the street and treat it for mosquitoes with incredible results. Not mentioned in the listing is the biblical amount of mosquitoes that are in the yard of this house. We were each bit 10 times just checking in. In the amount of time that it took us to open our tailgate and take our luggage out of the car, 30 mosquitoes were in our car which we then spent the next 20 minutes killing before we could depart. I cannot overstate how big of a impact this had on our weekend. Every trip to and from the car was a sprint followed by us climbing around inside of our car, swatting mosquitoes. This property could be exponentially better but would strongly recommend you not stay here until the mosquitoes are handled.
I loved the band of green space through the dunes between the house and the beach. The deer each morning eating blackberries along with other birds and wildflowers were very relaxing. The pictures look as if you could walk to the beach, however, you can not. It isn’t far to the beach, it just needs to be noted in the advertisement that the mowed strip is to the top of the first row of dunes and you cannot walk through the green space field with cattails to get to the beach. We had a great visit!
Booked for three nights; stayed for one. The beach was impossible to get to…. there’s no path to the beach. You have to walk across cactus, fire ants and swamp. Calling this beach front property is misleading. The beach was covered in jellyfish and garbage. Bad weather is no one’s fault but the house swayed in the wind. Not the vacation we were hoping for. Turned around for home ASAP.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Villa Verde. The interior was comfortable and accommodating. The porches provided panoramic views of sunrises, sunsets and the night sky. A fun time at the beach was just a short trek across the dunes.
Pleasant getaway, no issues and will stay again
House was clean, comfy beds and easy walking access to the beach. Owners were responsive
This was the right place for my wife and myself. Not too small-not too big. Several things needed fixing but did not dampen our stay. I talked to property management and they assured me that repairs would be done-so with that being promised-the place should be perfect.
Overall the stay was fine and we had a relaxing vacation, but there are some reasons this house was available for a last-minute booking. It took us a little by surprise that the mowed path up the dunes didn’t actually go to the beach, and that we had to walk to the end of the street and through the nature park beach access. Something about the pictures we saw made it look like direct beach access from the house. Our stay was after the Fourth of July and the bay side of the beach was a huge mess with trash pile everywhere and buried in the sand. My dog walked through broken glass. There were also a few things that would have made the experience better. Neighbors who didn’t let their un-neutered dogs roam off-leash would have been nice. The coffee maker overflows and needs instructions taped to it. It doesn’t work like a normal keurig. The shower is made of very thin plastic that is taped together with waterproof tape at the corners. If I had slipped I’d have taken out the shower wall. The bed was comfortable, the couch was comfortable, there is a tv in the bedroom with a password-locked roku, the Wi-Fi connection was good. Overall, it was comfortable, but I felt it was overpriced.
We enjoyed our beach vacation.. MATAGORDA never disappoints.. great beach !
We took a quick trip to Matagorda. The property manager was great and provided us with some options on local food locations and helpful reminders. We'd stay there, again.
Quiet peaceful pet friendly getaway. We had a great time! And so did our pup :)
