Stayed Jan 16, 2020This bach is well situated in Duvauchelle, which is close to Akaroa but much quieter. The beach is stoney and good for water sports and shell hunting. There is a camp ground adjacent with a playground, which we found useful. It is small but functional. Positives: recently renovated, well-appointed kitchen, comfortable beds. Lovely and sunny, also with black-out blinds and an air-conditioning unit. Negatives: this bach feels very much like somebody's family bach. There was a lot of unnecessary items and accumulated kitchen goods and could really be cleaned out to create more space. It would have helped for the owner's personal items to be put in a locked cupboard so it was clear what was free for us to use and what was theirs. The bathroom is very simple - a shower in what feels more like a laundry. No bathroom sink, just a laundry-sink. Furniture was dated but functional. The bach is a little pricey for what it is, especially the breakdown of agency fees (for instance for linen use).
