North Creek, New York
Fashioned after the Adirondack Great Camps, our home features many elements of a more authentic Adirondack lodging. Rustic furniture, beds and railings make this two bedroom home a cozy retreat for 2-5 people. Situated on an 80 acre property, with 4500 feet of river frontage you can enjoy trout fishing, hiking, mountain biking, on our private trails, or just siting back and enjoying the cascading falls from our forward facing screened in porch. In season enjoy swimming in our private swimming hole as the crystal clear waters of our trout brook surround you with delight.
We have owned this property for 20 years and now with our children grown we would like to share this with others who love and appreciate the secluded, wilderness experience of an especially beautiful property here in the Eastern Adirondack region. We are located approximately 1/2 hour north of Lake George Village and a ten minute drive off the Northway.
The house is kept clean and tidy. You will always be greeted with fresh linens and towels. The bathroom and kitchen will provide for most essentials, tissues, toilet paper, bottled water and many other thoughtful touches to make your stay comfortable.
This property is rustic. Staying at Mill Rock Clove is an authentic Adirondack experience. We are NOT the Ritz Carlton and there is nothing fancy about it. Spaces are small and cozy. Much of the furniture is made by local artists using wood from our forests. The purpose of vacationing here is to rejuvenate your spirit, mind and body. It's about being in one of the most beautiful spots on the planet and absorbing the magical energy that is ever present. The property is on the site of a 19th century grist mill, and was a spiritual center for native Americans before that.
We are privileged to have spent a great deal of time on the property and honored to share it with others. We also realize that not every one will appreciate what is on offer here. If you are looking for perfect weather or a 5 star Ritz Carlton experience please look elsewhere. There is also very little night life in the area, unless you drive 30 minutes south to Lake George. The local restaurants are generally good, but modest in standards. Supermarkets are available within a 15 minute drive.
This is a vacation for people who understand what having an authentic experience in nature is all about. Much more comfortable than camping, and yet we strive to bring the beauty of the outdoors inside with large glass viewing areas, a comfortable spacious screen porch and original rustic furniture fashioned from local trees. The master bed is adorned by a large Birch Wood canopy which feels like you are sleeping in a forest grove. With a large oversized queen mattress good restful sleep after a day in the outdoors is hard to resist. Spend your days walking through our 80 acre private forest with 2 miles of private walking trails. In season relax in the stream and play in our private swimming hole. Fire wood is provided for both indoor and outdoor fire places.
We had a fantastic time during our stay. The creek-front yard and screened in porch were beautiful. The listing description says this isn't the Ritz, but I bet the Ritz would pay a lot of money for this property! We spent a lot of time on the rocks and walking the trails. Inside, the combined living room/dining room was much larger than expected, and was open to kitchen and the porch. Decor isn't modern, but we wanted an Adirondack style cabin anyway, so this house was perfect. Location is great too-close drives to Loon lake, Schroon lake, and Lake George. Little bit further up to Lake Placid and Whiteface area but still easy and beautiful. We would definitely stay here again
The River View was spectacular and this is a completely private setting. The setting really was one-of-a-kind!!!! The residence is much like a camp rather than a house but we were more than ok with that! I enjoyed fishing 2 days on Schroon Lake. Easy boat or kayak access from the southern end of the lake is about 8 minutes from the house. We had a fire on an incredible scenic spot at the river bend in front of the house one night.
This is a beautiful and private piece of property that is well-situated near the town of Schroon Lake (about 20 minutes away). The river is so soothing and the screened in porch is a delightful place to enjoy it. We also spent many nights at the fire pit star gazing. The host, Kurt, was very responsive to my questions and concerns, usually responding within less than 2 hours. We were worried about the recent flooding in the area and he assuaged our concerns. We came back from this vacation feeling relaxed and ready to re-engage with urban life. My only suggestion would be to have a proper garbage can outside the house so guests don't have to store the garbage in the basement. This is why I am giving the 3 stars for cleanliness. Otherwise, we had a most wonderful time here!
The property is charming, the house has a history, and you can imagine the beautiful winters and summers the owners spent there with their family. Unfortunately, our staying was affected by bad weather, almost 11 days out of 14 of rain. In addition, many mosquitos made it impossible to enjoy the property entirely.
We had a beautiful view, quiet surroundings and an appreciated screened in porch. We enjoyed the decor in the cabin. Place was clean and everything worked as described. Will return if possible.
Really wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing this oasis
This beautiful home right on the clear brook was so peaceful. My husband enjoyed walking the brook to fish. Home was very cozy and clean. Will return!
If you like the outdoors you will love this diamond in the rough. We sat on the screened in porch for hours swinging on the cozy swing, reading, watching the momma Phoebe feed her babies in the nest above our heads, listening to the river flow. It was just what we needed. We spent time on Trout Brook, I played in the water, my husband tried to catch fish, we made a fire and sat by the stream. Private and quiet. The bed was comfy. Thank you for opening your home to us!
We had a wonderful time. The pictures do not do the place justice. What a wonderful, rustic and perfect cabin in the woods. We are grateful for the experience and the opportunity to completely disconnect, breathe the mountain air and doze by being lulled by the melody of the creek and crashing waterfalls. We look forward to coming back again soon!
We had a great time at this cabin! We explored, played, and watched the brook. The view from the screen-in porch was breathtaking - we could have sat on the swing for days on end without complaint! We even got to meet Smokey, the friendliest neighborhood dog. The snow and the dog were definitely the highlight for our kids! It was the perfect location for a quick getaway. We can't wait to visit again.
Great location Super relaxing sitting by creek
This was our second time staying at this property. This stay was just as peaceful as the first. Highly recommend this location and plan on returning!
This was a wonderful home base for our Adirondack adventure to celebrate our anniversary with the most incredible backyard view of the Trout Brook. The screened in second floor deck was the perfect spot to relax and read a book while my husband fished in the brook. Great location for easy access to the Northway. Charming cabin with all the of ADK accents and plenty of extras amenities for adventures!
Comfortable home with exceptional examples of handmade Adirondack furniture and decor. The screened porch overlooking the rushing Trout Brook is the best feature of the house, perfect for meals and relaxing. The bedrooms are small and our double bed was comfortable, well-appointed with flannel sheets and a wool blanket. Galley type kitchen is small but adequate. Our only concern was the stairs- the main living area of the house is on the second floor, up a set of hand-hewn open stairs with rustic bannisters- this would not be a safe setting for small children or elderly adults. The property is beautiful and large and quiet- no noises other than the sound of the brook!
Usually don’t write reviews but our kids and us had so much fun this past week! From watching my kids catch frogs to looking for snakes to sliding down the rock slide into the river they had smiles on their face all week. We hiked the trails every single day almost that are on the property and had plenty of fun doing rail bikes, visiting schroon lake and supporting local businesses. Each night ended with a nice fire by the river or sitting on the porch listening to the river. I would highly recommend for a family!
