This magical retreat in a wooded setting has picturesque old world charm reminiscent of an Italian Alpine cottage.

Red Gate Cottage, situated on a knoll in Beaverdam Valley, is a vintage log cabin faced with stone. Semiskilled craftsmen working over decades, using stone and antique brick, produced an effect that makes the cottage resemble an ancient stone house in the Alps. The original log walls inside have been restored and preserved.

The luxury renovation by the Architect/Owner features high pine-faced cathedral ceilings throughout. The river stone fireplace is a focal point where people enjoy gathering to watch TV and movies or to just soak up the relaxing atmosphere. It's a great venue for romantic couples, friends and family groups to celebrate holidays and special occasions.

A hot tub on the stone patio, cradled by massive rock walls, rests under pergola. Beyond, a sunken garden has a fire pit for roasting marshmallows and smores.

From the deck, you can enjoy close mountain views as you dine or sit around a blazing fire in the chiminea. Relax in the hammock, and listen to the sounds of the abundant wild life mingling with those of barnyard animals from nearby farms. Flocks of wild turkeys wander by. Guests recently saw a total of eight black bears (including 4 cubs) during their stay.

Peaceful and quiet, the cottage is within 10 minutes of the center of Asheville. The scenic Beaverdam Valley meanders past the country club golf course en route to the spectacular high mountains of the Blue Ridge Parkway – where you can enjoy hiking, mountain biking and scenic drives. Yet the fantastic restaurants and night life of Asheville are only a few minutes away. The Gove Park Inn is nearby, and the University of NC is just minutes away. Black Mountain is within 30 minutes, and Lake Lure, Chimney Rock Park and Wolf Laurel Ski Resort are all within 45 minutes. Mt. Mitchell, highest mountain in the Eastern U.S., is an hour’s drive up the Blue Ridge Parkway.

At Red Gate Cottage, you can enjoy both town and country, truly the best of both worlds. So bring the children, bring the dog. Here, you can get away from it all (but still stay in touch with high speed wireless internet).

The house was very warm and cozy. The owner was always available. Cleanliness was awesome. There is a lot of history to the home as you will read in the binder located in the house. We never used the hot tub, but it was functional. The location was superb.

What a lovely two week stay in our little cabin in the woods but super close to downtown Asheville! Wonderful setting, bears, snow and temps in the 70’s! Great cozy spot in a beautiful location!

Georgia was an incredible host - she was so thoughtful and welcoming. We had such a comfortable stay and had everything we needed. Our son loved the playset and we even saw a bear across the street in the neighbor’s yard - a true highlight for our family!

This cabin was so cute! The photos don't do the property justice. The cabin is on the smaller side but perfectly arranged for lots of fun and time with friends and family. I told the owner the photos don't do it justice and she said she was going to get some other ones done. We loved this property; the gardens, the patio, the fire pit, all just lovely! Easy to find and plenty of parking for a few cars in the driveway. Will definitely stay again!

This was our first time to Asheville. We were in town for a wedding. We were pleased at how close the cottage was to town and to all of the wedding events at the same time feeling like we were in a cabin in the mountains. We enjoyed sitting outside on the porch and admiring the view of the mountains. Our dogs enjoyed their walks around the property.

But with sophisticated interior and everything you need for a fantastic get-away. Everything Asheville has to off (and it’s a lot!) is just minutes away but you are in your secluded, cosy stone house. The bedrooms are all charming with plenty of storage. Comfy beds. And watching movies by the fire, or sitting on the deck having breakfast…couldn’t be better

As advertised. Close to everything yet far enough to feel remote. Owner was very responsive and welcoming. When the hot water went out, it was fixed the same day. Perfect spot for our family and dogs to enjoy Asheville and WNC.

We had a really nice stay at the Red Gate Cottage. Georgia was an amazing host. The fenced property was a nice feature to ensure the safety of our fur kids. Very charming house with a lot of character. The deck was awesome for morning coffee or an afternoon drink. Close to town, but feels remote.

This house and the owner are wonderful! This is our third time back and we will plan to come again. The house is cozy and inviting. The fenced in yard is wonderful for our dogs. Georgia is a fabulous host! It was snowing the day of our arrival and when we arrived she had come over to make sure ice melt and snow shovels were out in case and left us cookies on the counter. This is a wonderful property with a personal and attentive host. We love it and will be back again!

Very quaint and comfortable! Host could not have been more accommodating. Even though most of Asheville was shut down, we didn’t mind hanging around the fire pit and sitting on the porch admiring the leaves! Thank you for sharing your delicious cookie recipe. 😂😂

This place was great for our extended family. We had 8 and it was tight but we were warned about this beforehand. Listing is correct. One thing to keep in mind, the fenced in yard is only completely fenced when the driveway gate is closed. Also, a small section of the fence by the driveway and lower yard is wire with 4 to 5 inch square openings. Just something to think about if you have smaller dogs or dogs that like to explore.

The property is exactly as pictured and described. If you are looking fancy and upgraded this isn’t for you but if you are looking for a cozy, rustic style cabin close to everything this is the place for you. Minutes to most anything you would want to do in Asheville yet still has the in the mountains feel. Cabin has everything you need to be comfortable and not have to pack a lot. What makes this house extra special is all the outdoor space. Communication with the property manager was top notch and we were even welcomed with a personal letter and a plate of cookies.
