HOUSE RULES
Thank you for your interest in my home. Smoking and pets are not allowed inside my home (I am allergic to both).

No parties or loud sounds as it is a quiet neighborhood with very limited parking.

Parties or gatherings in my neighborhood and the Hollywood Hills in general are specifically banned by the City of Los Angeles and carry a fine. For this reason, I do not permit additional guests beyond those listed on a reservation without prior approval.

I only have two parking spots in front of my wall at street level. And, do not prefer bookings with more than two cars.

I have 52 steps up to my home and no elevator.

Due to fire risk in the Hollywood Hills and for general security purposes I have three outdoor Ring cameras that are used to monitor the safety of the home.

Please share the names of the guests who will be staying with you. And, be prepared to show your government-issued ID upon arrival so we can assure we are allowing entry to the person who is making the reservation.

Lastly, the home can only be booked for stays on VRBO/HomeAway. As such, I do not accept bookings for shoots (photo or film) on this platform and I also charge a different rate. If you are interested in booking the home for a shoot, please reach out via the home's website. The URL is the usual start of a web address followed by theboxhouse and the usual ending to the web address.

Please acknowledge and agree to all of the house rules listed above in order to book the home.

ALL BOOKINGS REQUIRE SIGNING AN ADDENDUM PRIOR TO BOOKING ACKNOWLEDGING HOUSE RULES AS IT RELATES TO NO SMOKING, NO PARTIES, NUMBER OF STAIRS LEADING UP TO THE HOUSE, AND THE LA SOUND ORDINANCE.

COVID-19 Best Practices

Avoid COVID-19 by taking additional cleaning and disinfection measures to help prevent its spread and help ensure the safety of travelers and partners:

-Use hand sanitizer & antibacterial soap products when using entry points and key areas, we also encourage hand washing regularly with water and soap for at least 20 seconds

-Implement social distancing policies during check-in and check-out, and during any interactions with staff or local community. When possible, encourage minimizing interactions

-For your safety, we recommend removing shoes when entering the property and leaving them at the entrance (if possible, outside)

-Refer to the WHO + CDC Website to identify symptoms

-Wear a mask when leaving the house

Researchers from UC-Davis and the University of Oregon published their report in the journal mSystems and came up with some recommendations for healthier work spaces in the age of COVID-19.

Two of their suggestions: opening windows for better air circulation and opening blinds or drapes for more natural sunlight.

Additional cleanliness benefits at this home include large windows and UV Light allowing for the availability of fresh air and natural light throughout the home.

The house is architecturally stunning, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. Matt is a great host, very friendly and responsive to all questions and requests. We also loved the Laurel Canyon location - it had a feeling of a nature preserve while being in the middle of a huge city, and (for the LA standards) we were relatively close to all major attractions. The only thing that could have been better is the lighting - while the natural light is ample, the electrical lights were fairly dim, with no task lamps and weak ceiling lights. That may be a design choice, but we at least would have preferred better-lit rooms and bathrooms.

Matt was a very informative and communicative host. He met us at arrival to orient us to the house, and was available immediately by text any time we had questions. The house is very unique and an architectural gem. We especially enjoyed the living room with the slider open, and the copper soaking tub.

We have been lucky to have rented many lovely vacation homes over the years and this home is top of the list. From check-in to check-out, Kat was welcoming, available and helpful. The home is like living in a work of art - and happens to have a fantastic location. Thank you for opening your home for rental and we hope to be back someday.

We cannot say enough about our incredible stay in the Box House. The manager and owner are very caring and make sure you are comfortable and are sensitive to anything you may need. The home and location are stunning. It is a truly zen experience as the home is outfitted with special books, water fountains, yoga mats, patios and spectacular views! We had a great dinner at Pace which was close by, would highly recommend dining there. This home is close to many cool places in Hollywood and LA. We will definitely return!

I reviewed this spectacular property more thoroughly in May 2021, but suffice it to say we were impressed enough to return for another vacation in 2022. The Box House is everything you expect it to be from the photos and other information. We enjoyed meeting Kat for our check in. It is beautifully decorated and a very private and quiet setting. Please read my earlier review from 2021 for more detailed information. You can’t go wrong with this one. Certainly one of the best rentals we have ever had!!
