Appy Place

The Space:

Named for the two apple trees in the yard and the warm feelings the house evokes, Appy Place is a true all seasons midwestern paradise, a vacation sanctuary, on the shores of Lake Michigan. Enjoy a quick stroll down the road to a sandy private community beach and beautiful spaces to gather both inside and out. This four-bedroom home is ideally situated in the private beach gated community of Glenn Haven Shores between the charming beach towns of South Haven, and Saugatuck and Douglas, on a landscaped piece of property lined with evergreens. When you're not lounging on the sand down Beach Drive, you'll be perfectly placed to explore area vineyards, hike the Saugatuck Dunes, bike the Kal-Haven and Van Buren Trails, go blueberry picking, and catch spectacular nightly sunsets. In the sparkling summer months, make yourself at home in the expansive yard by picking delicious apples, napping in the hammock, lulling yourself into a state of zen while mildly swinging on the bench swing or rocking on the front porch glider bench, and watching your kids climb the play structure. Sit down for barbecue dinners in the shade of the umbrella, linger on the screened porch with coffee and dessert, and use the provided bundle of wood to roast marshmallows around the outdoor firepit. In the vibrantly colorful fall months, feel free to pick an apple or two from the oversized apple tree in the front yard. The apple trees are naturally growing with no help from humans and produce tasty apples but finding edible ones is a bit of a scavenger hunt (and eating the apples is at your own risk – please first inspect, wash and cut open thoroughly) as they provide nourishment to little critters as well as deer who can stretch their necks high enough to grab a taste of sweetness. Best to head over to Crane’s for plentiful apple picking and eating in the crispness of the fall air! In the bright white winter months, enjoy the coziness of Appy Place by sipping hot cocoa around the fire pit or nestling up to the electric fireplace and binge-watching shows on streaming TVs after an invigorating day of skiing or tubing at one of the nearby ski resorts. And remember … just as Appy Place is an all seasons home, so is the sunset at Sunset Park, only a few minute walk down to the end of the street (or head to the private beach for a lower view of South Haven’s spectacular sunsets). The elegant interior is open, polished, and full of light, with large windows and lovely wainscoting throughout. Prepare meals with ease in an airy kitchen with double ovens, a gas range, a wine fridge, and other stainless steel appliances, and sit down to eat at the island breakfast bar, in the dining room, or outside on the deck. In the evenings, light the electric fireplace and stream a movie or two in the living room, or head upstairs to play foosball in the loft. Other bonus features include TVs in three of the four bedrooms (two of the bedroom TVs are smart TVs, and the third small TV is solely a DVD player), central AC and heat, and a private washer/dryer. THINGS TO KNOW Smoking is strictly prohibited. This property is managed by Vacasa Michigan, LLC.

Excellent property in a quiet neighborhood- very relaxing! Well appointed house that served the whole family. Cooking on grill and ovens/cookt was easy and huge fridge with ice was celebrated! Only difficulty was getting in and out of the house to the driveway. Uneven flagstone with gaps looks cool but for people with walkers or wheel chair like me it is pretty treacherous. Perhaps a warning in the advertisement saying the house is not ADA compliant would be good

Above and beyond our expectations! Our party of six enjoyed a campfire one night with s’mores after drinks on the patio and a grilled salmon dinner. The next night, we played a board game around the coffee table. We all slept well on very comfortable beds. For our three day stay, we felt at home with our every need met! Recommended Appy Place to my co-worker

This home is GORGEOUS and has an ideal layout for multi generational families visiting together. Grandparents can have their own King sized bedroom retreat on first floor and Parents/ kids on second floor. The deck and deck furniture is “decked out” with beautiful furniture and the yard is a glorious space to run around with the kids. The kitchen is massive and a beautiful space to cook all the farm fresh food you can pick up nearby. Beautiful sunsets down the street and a magical (but steep) path to the beach. Close enough to town to get the city vibe. Far enough to just enjoy your family away from all the busy-ness. Highly recommend- we will be back!

We absolutely adored this property. We’ve been to Michigan for the past few year now for vacation and this was definitely our favorite place. We were able to enjoy the beach access, travel into downtown South Haven, visit local trails, and head back to a beautiful place to relax and sleep. We hope to be back again!

We loved our stay here. The house easily accommodated 7 adults and we loved all the well appointed outdoor spaces. We were close to Saugatuck and South Haven, but the best feature was the private beach we could walk to.

We loved the house! It had everything we needed. It’s in a perfect location proximate to South Haven and other towns. The sunsets at Sunset Park are so beautiful!! Even better to go to the private beach and watch the sunset and we were lucky enough to watch all different fireworks from the beach for the 4th of July!! There’s blueberry picking, vineyards and brewery’s close by. Also check out the sand dunes ride!! We will be back!!

As a first time visitor to Michigan I am so pleased with my choice of accommodation at Appy place. The central location in close proximity to the delightful towns of South Haven and Saugatuck made it so easy to explore the area and we especially loved the exclusiveness of the house being part of a gated estate. The sun drenched porch in the beautiful leafy garden was my happy place to relax in the morning and in the evenings we took a short walk to watch the spectacular sunset over Lake Michigan . We had family time at the beautiful private beach on Lake Michigan, with use of the beach limited to only the gated estate residents. The spacious and spotlessly clean house was everything we needed to enjoy our vacation. The hosts *** and **** have a list of perfect activities. I’ll definitely come back to Appy Place. Ps the name Appy is derived from the two apple trees on the property - it’s a perfect play on words because I felt so happy there.

We loved staying at Appy Place. The house is gorgeous and we love the location as it has access to South Haven and Saugatuck. We also loved that they home has things for the kids to do that get them off of their tablets such as foosball. We look forward to staying here every year.
