Stayed Dec 31, 1969This was a perfect base for a visit to the Cinque Terre. Levanto is a lovely town itself, with a great beach. Antonella was a great hostess, picking us up from the train station and dropping us back off at the end of our stay. She speaks good English and was very friendly and helpful. The house was clean and spacious and had all the necessaries. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969On arrival, we could see straightaway that 'Home Sweet Helen' was even better than the photos and description suggested. Our initial impression was WOW! Being on the first floor and on the edge of the town in an elevated position meant that light came in from windows on 3 sides - moonlight as well as sunlight - and the views were incredible of both the sea and the countryside inland. As a self-catering property, the house was very well equipped. We cooked for ourselves most nights. We appreciated the warm welcome from Antonella and the lift from the station. We were able to walk down to the beach via the 164 steps and down to the town via the cobbled path alongside the church. The walk to the train station took us about 20 minutes. The excellent train service meant that we didn't need a car and were able to explore all the cinque terre villages easily. We followed many walking routes using the excellent sunflower guide book both in the cinque terre region and on the other side of Levanto. However, each evening we were happy to return to our base in Levanto which was quieter, more spacious and less touristy. We enjoyed many evenings watching the sunset from Bar Nadia with a carafe of red wine! We would recommend this property to anyone who can manage steps and hills (or who has a car) and would highly recommend it to people who seek a great base for a fabulous walking holiday. We hope to return in the future.
