Hey, this property is a neat place to stay! We had a mixture of ages in our group. The place is super accommodating to multiple families. There are a ton of stairs both getting into the property (as pictured) but also inside the home. If anyone has bad knees, be aware there is no avoiding the stairs. The property needs instructions upon check-in of where the front porch lights are or the management company needs to turn them on in advance. The front porch light is located on a separate floor, downstairs in the laundry room. New pillows are needed with extra pillowcases for the extra pillows in the closets. The dishwasher is working well but needs to be braced so that when the top rack is out, the unit doesn’t shift forward. Master left sink light is out and bulb needs replacing. Property is hard to keep warm. Vacasa brought by space heaters and that helped. Overall, really neat place and thoughtfully cared for and designed. Well stocked kitchen. For the amount of people that it accommodates, it almost needs another living area. For all 9 of us, we could not all sit in the living room together. Thank you for a great stay and memories made!!
Unfortunately, the septic tank is backed up & therefore the entire home smelled like sewage while we were there. I know sometimes things happen but this was just very unfortunate. The Va Casa staff did respond to our concerns and told us that it has happened before. Nothing could be done while we were there. We ended up having to check out early. Some of the rooms were completely unusable because of the extreme odor smell. In addition, a better job should've been done at cleaning the home. We found empty water bottles, trash, dust bunnies and other items underneath the beds. One of the beds had some things between the sheets that made us think that the sheets had probably not been changed.
First, let me say that this is a lovely home overall with a beautiful view. The kitchen space is large. There are plenty of towels, pillows, and blankets. The living room furniture and the mattresses were comfortable. They provide hotel sized shampoo, conditioner, soap which is a nice touch. Great assortment of pots, as well as plenty of cooking utensils. The washer and dryer are full size, and soap and dryer sheets were provided. There was no overhead lighting in a couple of the bedrooms, but there were a couple of lamps (including one that has a lampshade that is falling apart upstairs). The house is in various stages of completeness - there are a lot of drywall patches throughout, which lowers the feel of a premium rental, but that doesn't prevent anyone from enjoying the house overall. Our stay was hampered by what I would consider property management issues. Here's a run down: 1) The property guide leaves something to be desired. Note that there are no hair dryers (that we could locate) so bring your own! 2) While the property management was kind enough to send us an access code to the front door in advance (as we anticipated we might arrive in the middle of the night), the incorrect access code was sent. When calling Vacasa, we were told we'll put in a service ticket and have someone get in touch with you. At that point we did not feel like we were valued guests.... just another number (reservation number that is). We did not receive a call from the property manager or Vacasa to follow up. Humorously, they later sent an email with check-in info with an updated door code. Luckily the neighbors made a call for us and John (who was the saving grace on this trip) came over and gave us the code. 3) On a Sunday, we woke up to discover that the pipes had frozen and we had not one drop of water. I called Vacasa, and to their credit, they said that they would call the local property manager right away. We were dismayed, however, that the local property manager told us twice it's not easy to get someone out here on a Sunday. Huh? When renting a property you hope the management company has reliable staff or resources to handle an emergency (and by first world standards, no water is an emergency). More surprisingly, we discovered that part of the reason for the frozen pipes were that the crawl space door was open and that the crawl space heater was broken. Needless to say, we were dismayed that the local property manager sounded more like we were inconveniencing him rather than assuring us that it would be fixed, possibly bringing us a case or even a gallon of drinking water, or even just a I'm sorry. Heaters returned water to the house about 4 hours later. 4) There was grease on the control panel of the oven. The waffle maker available (yes, who doesn't love a good waffle) was filthy - grease inside and out, and food left in it from a prior use (so no waffles were had on this trip). The oven had grease on the control panel. The drinking glasses and dishes needed a thorough rinse before use. (Note: this may be more of a dishwasher issue as we noted that on a couple of loads, the contents didn't seem clean at the end of the cycle). 5) The home guide focuses on interent help rather than location of things in the house, or telling you what isn't available so that you can prepare. I've created a list of things we noted below. As vacation home owners, we would not personally recommend Vacasa for a vacation rental (or property management) after our experience. Especially over a Sunday. We might recommend the house. Other items to note if you are renting here: - bring your own hair dryer - we didn't find one on the property - pillows are very thin (a note in case you hope for lofty ones) - There are a lot of steps between the parking area and the front door. ...
