The space
The home was originally built in 1890 and was the childhood home of Colorado's 31st governor William Knous. The home was then owned by a nurse who worked at the local miners hospital. It operated as business front and boarding house for many years until the current owner purchased the home in 2015. It's just a short walk up the hill to the infamous Ice Park and Ouray Via Ferrata. The building sits below the launch site for the 4th of July and New Year's Eve fireworks and gives an up close experience of the events! This quaint, clean and comfortable accommodation offers the perfect respite following your outdoor adventures!
The house has been renovated to incorporate modern comforts, however much of the original charm is preserved. The upstairs bedrooms were transformed into spacious guest suites with private baths. The rooms are bright and airy and offer amazing views of the Amphitheater and Box Canyon.
The Box Canyon Room sleeps 2 and offers a queen size bed, private bath, private balcony and in room coffee.
Guest access
Guests access their rooms through the front door of the house. The Box Canyon Suite offers a private South facing, private balcony. *Seating on the front porch is reserved for use by guests of the Amphitheater Suite.
