The cabin is one of three dwellings on the property set within an oasis of ash, cottonwood, and a variety of pine trees. The cabin shares 15 acres with the owner's homes and is surrounded by larger ranches, providing stunning views of mountain ranges, the South Fork valley, and Buffalo Bill Reservoir. Walking Deer Cabin sleeps four to six (four adults or two adults and four children) and has both heating and central air conditioning. It features a full bath, kitchen with modern appliances including a dishwasher, dining area, and a deck with outdoor furniture. A high chair and Pack-n-Play are available for families. Included is a TV/DVD player, high-speed Wi-Fi Internet, propane BBQ and enclosed garage.
The cabin is 12 miles from Cody and the highway to the east entrance of Yellowstone National Park. Eagles regularly appear, as do sandhill cranes, red-tailed hawks and great horned owls. Plenty of deer and antelope wander by, along with an occasional coyote. Bighorn sheep and elk can be viewed within a short drive down the valley.

We had an awesome experience at Walking Deer. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. Everything you could possibly need was provided for you inside the cabin. The cabin was spotless and cozy. The grounds were well kept and landscaped beautifully. The mountainous terrain surrounding the area was breathtaking and there is more to do around the area than can be done in one week. We hope to return and stay for a longer period of time in the future. We loved the time we spent at this location.
It was a wonderful place to stay and very convenient to Cody. The hosts were very nice.
Beautiful place, wide open close to everywhere you would want to be. Scott and Deb great people helpful and down to earth.
We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin is in a short, 12-mile drive from Cody but not too remote. It's really clean and well-maintained. The owner is friendly and encouraged us to walk around on the property. He gave some great information about where to see animals. The only thing we are not happy about is we had pre-paid for 7 nights however, had to check out a day earlier. We gave several days advance notice of this. Apparently, the property manager felt no obligation to refund even a partial amount for that day and they chose not to do so.
My husband and two kids stayed at this property for a week while we visited Yellowstone, The Grand Tetons, and Cody, WY. The place was very clean and spacious. We had enough room to spread out at the end of the day, enough room to cook, and enough room to lounge in the living room. Overall, our stay was fabulous and the owners were great and the dogs were friendly. If you like the outdoors and a quiet atmosphere, rent this place, you won't be sorry. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Walking deer was a wonderful place to stay. The owners are delightful.
Best location and hosts for any trip to Yellowstone. Cabin is immaculate the host are awesome! And the views and location is amazing. Our next trip out there we will be staying there again!
We enjoyed our time over the short time period we stayed there. Unfortunately, weather forced us to leave early
Property was clean, kitchen well stocked. We loved the views from all directions. Couldn't have asked for anything better!
Everything about the place was welcoming. The owners were so nice, the view was awesome & it was so quiet. We would stay there again. We went to Yellow Stone, it was a bit of a drive but there was a lot to see including a moose before we even got into the park!!
