San Luis Obispo, California
Our home is in a quiet neighborhood across the street from a pocket park that borders city open space. There are views of Bishop Peak from our front window and outside sitting area. Our street is low-traffic, and is a pretty safe place for kids to run around and explore. The backyard is fenced and has an outdoor dining area. The front yard has a semi-fenced area to sit and relax and enjoy the view.
The home is 3 bedrooms, 1 loft space and 3 full bathrooms, about 1450sf. The master bedroom has an attached bathroom (toilet and tub/shower combo) with a queen size bed. The upstairs loft space has a king bed and full bathroom (toilet and shower.) Please note it is a true loft with no door. The two remaining bedrooms are smaller but comfortable; one with a full size bed and the other with a twin over full size bunk bed with pull-out trundle. The entire home is hard wood floors so noise does carry.
Our home is walking distance (~1 mi) from a middle school with a dirt running track, football/soccer and baseball fields, basketball, handball and tennis courts, a shopping center and a coffee shop. It is about 1 mi from the Irish Hills Open Space, which has many miles of hiking/biking trails. It is a bike-able 4 mile distance to Downtown San Luis Obispo with an abundance of food, retail, coffee, bar and other shopping opportunities as well as one of California's historic missions: Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa. There are many beaches within 15 miles of the home.
Most homes in SLO do not have air conditioning, including ours, which is fine most of the time with our moderate coastal temperatures. During summer months we place a fan in each room.
We have four chickens in the back left corner of the backyard that make typical chicken noises during the day. There are no roosters and they’re quiet when the sun is down. You're welcome to the fresh eggs they lay each day. Otherwise, no need to worry about or pay attention to them.
The City of San Luis Obispo has a very strict noise ordinance in place. Please only rent this home if your plans include activities that won't disturb the neighbors.
We absolutely love our home and neighborhood and hope it's an inviting, relaxing place to stay while you enjoy all that the Central Coast has to offer!
NOTE: No smoking of any kind is allowed in the house or on the property.
We had a wonderful stay - the house was very clean and comfortable, and the chickens were a bonus!
Nice place not far from Cal Poly campus. Quiet neighborhood. Great communication with Courtney. No AC, but lots of fans helped. Thanks for hosting us!
This home is extremely comfortable and well stocked with basic amenities. Courtney and Ken are extremely communicative and were very easy to get in touch with. We were showing the area to our niece/cousin who is interested in Cal Poly, and the home was a terrific central location for getting to campus, downtown, Montano de Oro state park, Pismo Beach, and I'm sure other nearby attractions we didn't have the chance to explore. Courtney has a great list of recommendations for local activities I would endorse as well.
Nice decor and amenities, fenced in backyard with string lights, and an easy check in process (except that the instructions in the pdf differed from the listing, which was initially confusing). Great central location in a safe neighborhood, and only a short drive from restaurants downtown. Dog-friendly property too! The upstairs bedroom is a loft, so no door and noise travels easily. The upstairs bathroom has very low ceilings so showering was difficult for an adult of average height. Additionally, the extra cleaning fees seemed steep compared to other properties, so take that into consideration as this will affect your budget. Overall, this home fit our requirements of being close to downtown and open to children/dogs and we had a wonderful stay, however the layout of the home wasn't ideal for containing noise.
The house and gardens are lovely in the casual style of Joanna Gaines. We felt at home from the moment we stepped inside the bright, comfortable and well appointed interior. The kitchen is full of quality appliances and colorful Le Creuset cookware. It was an excellent choice for cooking Thanksgiving Dinner. There's so much to do in the area - beaches, parks, shopping - but one could be quite happy in this neighborhood with views of the lake and mountains and a nice backyard for the pups to play plus a henhouse where we collected eggs.
The property was better than expected. It had all the amenities of home - good beds, equipped kitchen, and plenty of seating for good conversations. The outdoor patio was much larger than expected and was a nice private courtyard. The chickens were so adorable and didn't bother us at all. The neighborhood is quiet with easy access to everywhere - spent most of our time at Cal Poly and downtown SLO and everything was 10min away. We will stay there again.
Lovely house for a relaxing weekend getaway. Felt very homey and we wouldn't mind coming back again!
Cute home with beautiful front and back yards. This place is conveniently located to enjoy downtown SLO, Pismo Beach and Morro Bay. We had our dog with us and he enjoyed playing in the backyard and running around in the school grounds down the street. The neighborhood is friendly and the weather was great. Overall, a very relaxing long weekend.
Courtney and Ken - You're home was perfect! It had everything we could need. We loved the photos of your beautiful family. Location is awesome. Close to everything, yet you felt like you were outside the city limits with the beautiful picture window in the front that looked out at the beautiful mountains and park area. Your neighborhood is quiet, and you had the perfect backyard for our Westie, who loved looking and visiting your chickens. You don't need to add or change anything. Thank you so much for sharing . . . Yvonne and Jim
