Our home is located in Cheboygan in a private setting on Lake Huron about a half mile from the mouth of the Cheboygan River. The home is a Victorian that was built in the late 1800s and was one of the first houses in the original “Duncan City” which was once the county seat of Cheboygan County (1853-1857). The home maintains the feel of a bygone era with its woodwork and stained-glass windows.

The home sits back about 100 yards from the beach and there is a tunnel of trees leading to the water. The private beach area is sandy with a rustic fire pit and tiki bar. From here you can enjoy walking along the beach, looking for driftwood and shells and watching the boats and freighters pass by. The beach is the perfect spot to watch the sunset with views of the Mackinaw Bridge, Mackinaw Island, Bois Blanc Island, the Cheboygan Crib Lighthouse and Poe Reef Lighthouse in the background.

The grounds contain 4+ acres with a mix of mature trees, wooded areas and grassy areas. There is a small rustic playground with swings and a slide, volleyball net, horseshoe pit, basketball net and another small fire pit closer to the house. There is also a large grassy area for the kids to run.

The house is centrally located and is about 2 miles to downtown Main Street. It is also less than a mile from the Little Traverse Conservatory Nature Preserve (in one direction) and the Cheboygan State Park in another direction. The rental comes with 5 bikes (3 adult and 2 smaller bikes) for use while exploring the area. A grill is also provided for use during your stay.

There are 4 bedrooms - 2 with queen beds, a third with a twin bed and the fourth with a full bed and a twin bed (beds for 8). There are several fireplaces in the house but they are currently non-operational.

Property is great. Hostess was equally great. In better weather than what we had you could literally vacation just on the property.

Our family of 8 with ages ranging from 3-68 (3 generations) had a really wonderful time at this property. They've thought of everything with thoughtful welcoming touches every where. The landscape is highly relaxing and appealing. The views at the beach are wonderful too. Seeing freighters, the Mac Bridge, and a surprise rainbow all helped to make this trip memorable and special. The beach is nice, but not really a swimming beach if you're looking for that. It's quite shallow and rocky for a good ways out. We still had fun though. Just not a place to go if you're looking for deeper water to jump and swim in. All in all, this place is perfect for a relaxing getaway with plenty of room inside the house to spread out. And plenty of room to roam and play games or find a bench to sit under a tree and read out in the yard. We hope to come back again soon. Thank you for a great place for our family trip. Our family would highly recommend this get away home. They provide almost everything. Something to do for all ages. Our family is considering renting it again.Thank you, for sharing this property with others.

A great place for children! There is a garage full of well organized beach toys, games, balls, bikes, craft table, etc. At the lake there is a trunk full of items for the beach and lots of chairs. My daughter and I enjoyed coffee in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening on one of the four beautiful porches, two facing the lake. Inside the historic home (one of only two,19th century Duncan City homes surviving we learned) there are drawers and cabinets full of toys and activities. We had a delightful week!

The house was perfect for reunion of our family of 7, traveling from NY and Montana. Plenty of room and everything we could need or want for our stay. Beach was great-shallow and warm, felt like we had entire lake to ourselves. Loved watching the sunset from the beach and enjoying star gazing by the bonfire! House was nicer than advertised! Beds were comfortable and the welcome basket was such a thoughtful touch!

From the moment we got there, until the time we left, magic was in the air. The house was beautiful, more than we imagined. Elegantly decorated, without being stiff. It’s not hard to find a comfortable space, indoors or out. The boys loved the lake, and all its treasure’s Everyone relaxed, and found peace. I highly recommend this place. Our stay did involve a hiccup. We reported it, and it was promptly taken care of. This is a lovely place to stay.

Our experience with this rental was wonderful. The house was more gorgeous than I imagined, and the amenities were amazing. We had 3 kids whose eyes lit up when entering the garage and seeing all the bikes, scooters and toys. The house was clean, cozy and charming.

An amazing property with great onsite amenities and a convenient location on the beach near Mackinac City. We really appreciated the ample outdoor seating, fire pits and unbelievable assortment of supplies available. During our weekend downtime between scheduled activities, our two 8 year old kids had no trouble finding fun things to do on the grounds- basketball, soccer, bike riding and lots of quiet nooks to read in. The only real downside is that the wifi was poor and TV didn't get any reception/channels, so we weren't able to watch college football after the kids went to bed. Other than that, we can't recommend this house enough. (We're already trying to talk our retired parents into joining us for another visit at this location next year.)

We loved our stay here! We were so impressed with the house, the property, the amenities (bikes, toys, games, coffee!), and the property management (Joe and Emilie are wonderful!)! We came in late at night and the lights were welcoming us in. The next morning we got to explore everything the house had to offer, and it’s a lot! So many things for kids and adults to enjoy… this is hands down the best VRBO experience we have had. The only thing I can say that would have been good to know is that the internet is very slow if you are expecting a better connection. My husband had to do some work and was frustrated. This is not the property/property managers problem as they only have ATT in the area and they even came out to hook up a new modem when we were there. Just in that area is not a fast speed. Again, not a huge deal just don’t expect a fast connection and know that in advance. Cell service was fine otherwise! The house is fully stocked! I was worried about no AC but they have so many fans and screens the heat never once bothered us. They have coffee pods already at the house (hallelujah) The beach is beautiful and super shallow way out so people with little kids can relax a bit too :). I cannot say enough good things about this place. It felt so special to stay there and we will cherish the memories we made there forever. We would love to come back again and again!
