We loved this little house! So updated and great for our family of 5! Loved the location and we were able to walk everywhere! Grocery, beach, golf, and town were so easy to get to! The house had almost everything you could need! We did buy soap for the bathrooms and kitchen but honestly it had everything else! Thank you for a great stay! Can’t wait to come back!
The property was the perfect size for the 3 of us and an easy walk to all locations in Avalon and to Descanso Beach, even with luggage and shopping bags. Management communicated with us very well and made the check in and check out process easy. We loved our stay with the the many activities available (kayaking, zip lining and tour of interior) and options to dine. Our only negative: coffee mugs, glasses and some dishes were not clean but overall cleanliness of the property was definitely acceptable. Thank you.
The property is as described. It is a pleasant cottage with a fully stocked kitchen (though a few sharp knives would be helpful). It is very conveniently located in relation to restaurants and the Vons supermarket. Everything was clean with the exception of the kitchen cabinets, which needed to be wiped down (there was some food residue on them). the beds were comfy, and there were some fun games and jigsaw puzzles. WiFi worked well. My complaint is not with the cottage, but with Avalon itself. The town has some charm, but it is overrun with noisy, smelly gas-motor golf carts. The noise and fumes become really unpleasant after a while. The cottage is right on the street (no setback), so you hear EVERYTHING, including the neighbors' (loud) music. I can't figure out why the local political leadership doesn't try to do something about the golf cart situation. I guess because lots of people keep showing up, so why change it? If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful vacation, I would not recommend Avalon. Maybe you can find something in the surrounding hillsides that is quieter. Maybe it's better in the winter. I'm not sure. With all this said, we had some lovely hikes--the mountain trails are beautiful (though watch out for tourist-filled humvees charging up the fire roads).
We loved the proximity to town for shopping, dining, and renting a golf cart. The property was clean and perfect for card playing, relaxing, nice, quiet neighborhood. Towels and most immenties were provided, included a coffee maker, but no coffee, so we left the rest of the bag we purchased for the next guests. We got in late and didn't have coffee in the morning, and the towels were on top of the shampoo and soap, so we bought some at Von's before we discovered it, so picking up the towels that were not on the rack but on the counter in the master bath is a good idea for future guests.
Can't wait to come here again! Super clean, very easy to find, easy, easy, easy. Just wonderful. My only very tiny issue was there was no soap in the bathrooms or kitchen. I'm sure this is an issue with the cleaning service, not the owner. There was hand sanitizer in the kitchen but not a bar of soap anywhere. Thank you!
We were staying for a few days and overall the property and location was wonderful. I would stay again. The kitchen was stocked with everything.
It had been years since we last visited Catalina. This home was so easily located to restaurants, the grocery store, the boats, and zip lining. Short walk to to so many adventures Clean and well maintained. Neighbors were very friendly. Just delightful
We had a fantastic weekend celebrating a birthday. Kitchen needed more knives and sharper knives would have made cooking easier. (Or a sharpener). We did have a nice bbq nonetheless. The pullout sofa could really only accommodate one adult, but would be fine for two little kids. Otherwise it was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. Great location. Nice neighbors.
We rented 3 houses on the same block and this one was the best! Clean, comfortable beds, nicely updated. The only problem we had was we couldn’t find the linens for the sofa bed. Other than that it was perfect!
The house is quite comfortable, including all the beds. The front room has a super relaxing beach vibe with lots of light from all sides. The location at the top of the flats, offers great access to all the wonderful trails and to ocean. The wifi works reliably in the front room only (due to age of the router); we purchased an extender (amazon ships very quickly to the island) to get the wifi to function in the back 1/2 of the house since we were all working/learning remotely. The couch does fold out into be sleeper, but isn't a good long term choice for sleeping since the frame slopes. The kitchen is nice and big and worked just fine for lots of meals for cooking. The dishwasher doesn't reliably wash dishes. The house in general is oddly stocked. As a couple of examples lots of pillows, but no pillow cases, a blender lid and base, but no pitcher, infinite number of tupperware lids but no tupperware. All in all, we really liked the house, but given the price it was hard not to notice the operational failings that could have been addressed but aren't/weren't.
