Town: The place-name 'Quenington' is first attested in the Domesday Book of 1086, where it appears as Qvenintone. This is from the Old English 'Cwenenatun' meaning 'the women's town or settlement' (the word 'queen' has the same derivation).
It had previously been suggested that the name Quenington could have meant settlement on the Coln, the river which flows through the village, though the name 'Coln' is of unknown origin.Quenington is mentioned in the Domesday Book in relation to two mills at either end of the village, a water mill and a fulling mill, both now private residences.
The village offers a thriving 'local' pub, located just off the village green - intent on maintaining its status as a proper pub, rather than a fine dining establishment, which are so prevail ant in the area.

We (2 adults 2 teenagers) loved the house and the area. The house is very comfortable, very soothing, and nothing is missing. We did plenty of walks in beautiful places (Cirencester, Fairford, Dane Ln, Malmesbury, Bibury..). Thank you for this wonderful stay. Bruno, Anna, Marc, Matthieu

Stayed here for three nights after a long flight. Access is via a short path through lavender buzzing with bees - delightful for most, but not for anyone with a bee phobia. Lockbox is inconveniently located about a foot above the ground so entering the code requires kneeling down - fortunately it was not raining. Inside the property is small, apparently designed for parents with kids. Master bedroom is fine but bedrooms 2 and 3 are small, 3 is an attic room with two single beds end to end. Kitchen is nice .Sitting room narrow, dining room suitable for fire adults or family with kids. Village is very pretty, with friendly pub and good walking

We enjoyed our time at this property in the Cotswolds. We had a wonderful experience. It was our first time in the UK and I think we had a better time than we would have had in the city. Thank you.
