This is directed to John: Thank you for thinking of my family’s safety and well being during the worse possible circumstances. The place was extremely clean, cared for and welcoming. We have only had this experience like this, once in our many visits to the area.It had lots of space. In fact, for a cabin so cozy, there was a lot of space inside.Rooms were great, beds comfy and the outside area was exactly how we saw it pictured. The location is close to everything, the ride to it was not treacherous and it being nestled in the mountain, with a small river out back made it so peaceful. Loved it so much that on our last day we were planning our next trip back. Now, about the reason for my message to John. On the morning of December29th, the power went out. We did not think much of it as we contacted John to let him know. Since the power hadn’t come back when we got back, John got very concerned as the temps were supposed to drop below 20 degrees. At night John came to us with a power bank, LED lights, and space heaters for our safety. I can’t explain how much that meant. Power came back as he was explaining how to use them.Let’s understand that this is the middle of the forest and windy…power goes out at times. If I was to be nit-picky, the internet was spotty. Honestly, that didn’t detract from our experience, as seldom is the internet great in the middle of the mountain. Also, I didn’t get any work done…oh no, so sad! LOLJohn, I’ll see you soon!

100% perfection! Communication with host was easy. Cottage was fully stocked with everything we needed. Planned our meals ahead of time, picked up groceries on the way, & the kitchen had what we needed to cook them. A filtered water pitcher & carafe was waiting in the fridge, along with bottled water. Coffee maker uses K-cups (which we didn’t bring), but host provides a great variety of K-cups & hot teas.Plenty of super soft, absorbent bath towels for all 7 of us, & more than enough hot water for back-to-back showers. We loved that the toilet & shower were separate from the bathroom sinks, it made getting ready much easier. A hairdryer was provided, along with full-size shampoo & body wash. Each bedroom has a ceiling fan, comfy beds, & plenty of space for our stuff. The two separate living areas were perfect: the kids took the downstairs & loved their own space & outdoor balcony, while the upstairs open-concept living, dining, & kitchen area made it easy to spend time together. The dining table was perfect for games. The back porch quickly became a favorite spot to gather & listen to the creek, & the kids even went down to get their feet wet. There’s also a washer & dryer, though we didn’t use them.Only 2 minor “downsides”: slightly bumpy driveway (easy to manage if you drive slowly) & no TVs in the bedrooms-not an issue for us.Overall, I’d rate this cottage a 15/10. Everything was exactly as described, it was still decorated for Christmas, & we can’t wait to go back!

I had an incredible stay at this riverside house in the heart of the North Georgia mountains. The location alone is worth the trip you’re literally steps from the river, surrounded by peaceful mountain views, and it feels like a private escape from everything. The house was spotless, cozy, and well equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Waking up to the sound of the river and enjoying morning coffee on the deck was honestly the highlight of my trip. The hosts clearly put a lot of thought into the details, from the comfortable bedding to the easy check-in process. If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway with beautiful scenery and a true cabin-in-the-mountains atmosphere, this is the perfect place. I’ll definitely be coming back!

This cabin is amazing! It is beautifully decorated and well stocked with everything you need from kitchen to bathrooms to entertainment. All of the furniture was very comfortable. The host was always friendly and quick to reply to inquiries. I was a little worried about the track road and driveway incline but our daughter’s accord and husband f150 had no issues. The creek was fun to play and fish in and so relaxing to hear from back porch . We enjoyed the fire pit for s’mores and had a great family weekend with our adult kids!

We had a wonderful get away weekend at this beautiful secluded cottage! The home was very inviting, super clean and the river view and sounds were so delightful! It’s only an hour and a half from Athens so it makes a quick trip up and back. Easy access to wineries and Dahlonega. My grandson particularly loved rolling acorns down the driveway. We will definitely be back!

A Beautiful Mountain Getaway! My wife and I had an incredible stay at John Winter’s beautiful home nestled in the mountains near a peaceful stream. The house itself was immaculate, modern, and felt brand new — every detail was perfect. The mile-long gravel road leading up to the property does have a few bumpy spots, but once you arrive, you’ll see it’s absolutely worth it. The setting is breathtaking and so quiet and relaxing.John was a wonderful host — very friendly, responsive, and helpful. He even went out of his way to bring an iron and ironing board to the house for us! He was always available to answer questions and gave great recommendations on things to do in the area.We highly recommend this place — it’s a hidden gem and the perfect spot for a peaceful mountain escape!

This home is a gem! Clean, well-equipped, and so inviting. The highlight for us was the river — both the view and the soothing sound of the water made our stay incredibly peaceful. It truly felt like a retreat from the busy world. Excellent communication with the host! We highly recommend this place and would love to come back!

We stayed here for the weekend and loved it! We wished we had more time and hopefully can come back for a longer stay in the future! My favorite part of the house was the large back porch that allowed you to see and listen to the beautiful river!

This property is truly a hidden gem. Located halfway between Dahlonega and Helen, perfect location to enjoy the holiday festivities and then be able to retreat to the quiet and peaceful bliss this home offered. We watched deer wonder into the yard over our morning coffee on the deck. This home was well equipped with everything possibly needed. John, a most gracious host, was a joy to work with. Always readily available to answer any questions or offer suggestions or advice. We will rent this home again if we find ourselves in Georgia. Thanks again, John!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The combination of the soothing river sounds, peaceful atmosphere, and festive Christmas decorations made for a truly magical setting. We enjoyed every moment spent by the river making memories with our children and grandchildren. The attention to detail made our stay even more enjoyable. We will be back.
