Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Martha Murray was great regarding communication leading up to our stay and ease of check in/out. Home is as described, typical cottage. Cleanliness issues included dead bugs in kitchen window, an exploded liquid ant bait on top of fridge, coffeemaker left in unusable condition, dried food on a few dishes/utensils - opted not to use, and I wouldn't describe the floors being broom clean upon arrival. We were offered an early check in, but would have preferred a cleaner arrival. We did not use the grill, so I can't comment on its condition. General condition issues: no storage in kitchen due to too many owner items, right side of driveway overgrowth so significant that my husband spent an hour cutting it back in order for us to be able to pull in (SUV). In the state we found it, I would not recommend this property to a friend, but if the above issues were addressed I would. Price can't be beat, great location, and reasonably comfortable beds.
We would definitely not stay here again. When we arrived, we immediately felt the house was not thoroughly cleaned before our arrival. There were fingerprints on the glass on the back storm door and on the mirror behind the door in the master. The ac in the master was all mildewy. The rental company was quick to send someone to clean it but the whole place left us feeling unclean. The bed in the master was so hard and uncomfortable that we had to go buy a gel mattress topper just to sleep on it. The grossest thing however was the kitchen drawers and cabinets. The pots and pans were so old and gross that we didn't feel comfortable cooking with them. Because of covid, we had brought food to cook all week. There are disgusting, filthy pot holders hanging on the wall. The silverware drawer was equally disgusting. Oh yeah, let's not forget that the trees next to the driveway are so overgrown that they scratch your car pulling in and out. Alot of the branches have been bent back from people trying to move them out of the way. This place is not suitable for a rental. The owners clearly don't give a hoot about the safety and comfort of their guests. I've stayed in private rentals all over the world and this is the first time I felt it necessary to leave a negative review.
The location of this house was perfect for us. Close enough to the beaches, and in a quiet neighborhood. We have 4 adults and two children and never felt crowded. The price of a weekly beach pass ($75.00) to drive to the beautiful beaches in Dennis certainly outweighs the price of staying on the beach. Did I mention the beautiful beaches. Between West Dennis Beach and Sea Street Beach, we didn't need to go anywhere else!. Next year we'll check out more of the beaches in Dennis.
