Charm out the wazoo at this home. The location is outstanding: a short walk to the bakeries and restaurants and amusements of downtown Ashland from here. My bed (the non-four-poster one) was one the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. The hosts are responsive and helpful, too. We had such a lovely time.

I've been visiting Ashland for 15 years, and The Matriarch (also known as the Swank House) is by far the best location I've ever stayed in. It's beautifully classy, incredibly comfortable, and perfectly situated—just a short walk to everything I love: the Cabaret, Lithia Park, restaurants, and shopping. I especially appreciated being able to drop off purchases or refrigerate leftovers in between outings—so convenient! The communication was seamless: clear, accommodating, and never intrusive. The kitchen was well-stocked, the beds were luxuriously comfy, and the entire space felt thoughtfully curated. Honestly, I hesitate to post this review because I’d love to keep this gem all to myself! It was the perfect Mother’s Day gift to ourselves—shared between me, my sister, and two daughters. A truly special stay we’ll always remember.
