The location of this property cannot be beat—it is literally steps from the beach. However, the condition of the unit left much to be desired. As mentioned in other reviews, the interior is very dated. These units were built in the 1980s, and this particular one appears to have received minimal updates or maintenance since then. The furniture was noticeably worn, with slip covers seemingly used as a quick fix to disguise the deterioration rather than addressing the underlying issues. It gave the space a tired, makeshift appearance that detracted from the overall experience. The kitchen was especially disappointing. We found rusted pots and pans, mismatched silverware, and a hodgepodge of utensils that made meal preparation challenging. Basic kitchen essentials seemed worn out or inadequate for a comfortable stay.On a positive note, we did not experience any issues with musty smells or bugs, which some previous reviewers had mentioned—so perhaps those concerns have been addressed.Bottom line: The beachfront location and the complex itself have great potential. I would consider staying at this property again, but I would definitely choose a different, better-maintained unit. For the price point, guests should expect more attention to detail and upkeep in the unit's furnishings and amenities.

Property is in need of a major update. Old, dusty decor and yellow tinge to the walls. Furniture is nasty, beds are hard and there’s a musty smell throughout. There’s also parts of the floor that are soft. Location was great…just a few steps to the beach and the kitchen was well stocked. Overall, I think I will pick another property next time.

We love the Fort Morgan Townhome's and have stayed in other “S” series rentals. We were very disappointed with this one. It is extremely outdated and in desperate need of updating. There were several “soft” spots in the floors where it appeared the sub flooring needs replaced. The table on the deck was severely rusted and chunks were falling off of it and the front of the oven was rusted as well. The shower head in the master bathroom was coming out of the wall and the unit had a strong musty smell when we first walked in. All of this, we were willing to overlook as we understand some things are unavoidable when it’s directly on the beach. But our breaking point was when we eventually discovered that what we thought may have been an allergic reaction to what the linens were washed in, were actually fleas (we took pictures) and the marks on us were flea bites from the beds. We called management (yes, it was late in the week when called) and they unfortunately seemed to not be too concerned and passed it off as some other kind of bug that bites. I told them we had pictures and that we had also found cat toys under the couch and they advised that it could have been the owners. Nevertheless, it was bugs and that has never been experienced in other units. So unfortunate….

I highly recommend Cat 5. You won’t find a condo closer to the beach. It was well stocked and comfortable. A little outdated but I think the price reflects that well. The stairs are a little steep. But manageable. 2 bedrooms 1 bathroom upstairs and 1 bathroom with pullout couch on the main level. 7 of us fit comfortably. Great water pressure and water heater. The thermostat was wonky but it never got too hot in there. And there were tiny sugar ants in the kitchen some mornings. The drive into Gulf Shores is about 25 minutes. Worth the drive to Oyster House to eat lunch. Tacky Jacks 2 there close to the condo is pricey and small portions but the food was good. Sassy Bass is the same though the portions were a little better there. 2 things put a damper on our trip. 1. Smokers not respecting others rights to smoke free air. 4 ladies were chain smoking on the beach right next to us. 2. People not keeping their dogs on a leash. We are dog people but I don’t like random dogs running up to my children while they’re playing on the beach. Neither of those will negatively impact our decision to stay at Cat 5 again. We had a great time and will be back!

The condo was very run town. Yellow stained bathtubs. Rusty drains in the kitchen sink. Everything looked like it was from the 1970’s Would not recommend it especially for the price

Our stay was great! The view from the balcony never gets old. Cat 5 had everything we needed, except Kitchen towels, and wash cloths. I just bought some and left them there for the next guest. We would definitely stay here again!!
