Port Angeles, Washington
The Fawn House is a delightful “tiny house” in the center of a very small, private salt water beach front community, surrounded by fields, forests, a creek, and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The location, half way between Sequim and Port Angeles is at the end of a county road, where the wildlife habitat provides the perfect spot for the local deer herd to congregate. They rest on the lawn outside the home and feast on the fruit trees in the autumn months. You will see the new born “Bambi” fawns bounding up and down with glee during the spring season. They love this place, so any time of year is a good time to visit the Fawn House to watch the deer and other wildlife and birds that live all around this special spot.
The private beach access trail is a hike that draws people to our location. It is a five to ten minute hike down and through the wildlife habitat conservation area which is a deep gulley down to the magical, rain forest like section of McDonnell Creek which borders our property to the east. The creek which begins up in the majestic Olympic Mountains ends here at the bottom of our beach trail. It forms a calm and quiet lagoon where birds, fish and wildlife like the busy river otter can be viewed. From there, the peaceful lagoon where the deer come to drink the fresh mountain water spills out on to the rugged, rough and rocky salt water beach strewn with driftwood and logs that the storms have brought in. Seals and a variety of sea birds can be seen as you hike the beach toward the famous Dungeness Spit to the east or toward Port Angeles to the west. You may want to just find a log to sit on and be mesmerized by the sound of the waves crashing on the shore and pulling the rocks back into the sea. The colorful ships passing through the shipping lanes between the U.S.A. and Canada are fun to see, as are the closer fishing vessels and sail boats.
If the beach trail is too difficult for some, we have easier walking trails as well where look outs provide a perfect resting spot to enjoy the fantastic view and the colorful sunsets.
The Fawn House sleeps two on the short, queen size bed in the bedroom and two more on the sleeper/sofa in the main living area. There is one bathroom having a shower with skylight overhead. The full size refrigerator, propane stove, microwave oven and small washer/dryer lend themselves to your comfortable stay. An electric fireplace adds evening ambiance and the basic cable T.V. that we offer will be there if you need a little entertainment besides the WIFI.
Linens, pillows, blankets and towels are all provided for your convenience. Dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, pans and kitchen utensils are there if you choose to prepare a simple meal.
It is a twenty minute drive into either of the closest towns, both of which have numerous restaurant choices and grocery stores plus gift shops and other fun things to offer. If you need basic food items or you want to choose from a great wine selection, you will want to make the quick trip to the very near, neighborhood Agnew Grocery & Feed. They offer fun things to do and see such as farm animal viewing besides good groceries.
The Olympic Discovery Trail is a mile away, where you can ride a bike through the area on what used to be the old railroad line.
The Olympic National Park is a close drive from Port Angeles, up the mountain to Hurricane Ridge where on a clear day you will see spectacular, amazing views. There are many other places to go and sites to see in the area all within about an hour’s drive, such as crystal clear Lake Crescent and Sol Duc Hot Springs. For a day long trip further west, you can drive to the temperate Hoh Rain Forest and Pacific Ocean beaches and still return back to the snug and comfy Fawn House in the evening for a good night’s peaceful sleep.
Beautiful location, stunning views of the sunset, great hikes, close to everything.
This properly is located inside of a mobile home community, and has access to a private beach, which was a beautiful serene space for us to hang out in :)
This is a tiny house and it was very cute and clean . Hosts were quick to respond to any needs or questions. Reason I am giving 4 stars , is the microwave was not working and I think that should be told in advance . We had bought a lot of quick, microwave foods that went to waste or took longer on cooktop. Also weather was VERY hot and couldn’t use oven because of the heat, so a microwave would have been nice . We enjoyed our stay .
Comfortable for 2, good location, had everything we needed. We had a pleasant stay.
Place was clean and private. Location near a beach which was a wonderful hike as well. Great place to stay.
I want to preface this review by saying due to car issues, I wasn’t actually able to stay here but wanted to post a review to say how amazing the host is and to not mess with their algorithm since I still had the stay booked. Margie was extremely responsive, helpful, and caring through the whole process. I wasn’t able to make it to the property due to car issues but the listing was very thoughtful and well put together. I inquired about bringing an emotional support animal along and she was very accommodating of the request. She was also quick to inform on if anything changed from the listing. I really wish I was able to stay at this property for it looks amazing and is in a wonderful location. I look forward to booking again and actually staying in the future.
