What is Sunland Estates

A desert oasis located on the Columbia River just over 2 hours from Seattle.

The community of Sunland is an amazing hidden gem nestled below the towering basalt cliffs tucked right along the river. There is an unmistakable family, friendly, community feel like no other in Sunland. A stroll or bike ride around Sunland will be met with lots of smiles, waves and likely conversation!! The community boasts a huge waterfront grass lawn park, pool, tennis/pickleball courts and playground. Sunland is a true hidden gem of Washington with VERY limited rental opportunities. Book now or lose your opportunity!

Things to do:

Got a boat or watercraft There's plenty of room to park your boat or other toys! This section of the Columbia River is approximately the 7th largest body of water in Washington! The Wanapum Reservoir is 26 miles long and over a mile wide in some places with the most incredible scenery that Washington has to offer 700 foot tall shear basalt cliffs silently tell the story of millions of years of lava flows everywhere you look. Launch your boat at the local boat launch and spend the day on the shores of the grassy park, hit the amazing sand dune just a short boat ride north or anyone of the many, many places to spend the day on the river. Better known Crescent Bar is just a quick trip up the river as well. With very limited access there is never a crowd on the water. Mornings will give mirror like conditions for your favorite water sport.

Hiking: There are a myriad of amazing hikes surrounded by dramatic views right in the general vicinity of Sunland. You can even hike right from the property.

Climbing: The Frenchman's Coulee and Feathers climbing area is one of the most well known rock climbing areas in the Northwest. Go hit your favorite routes then come back for an evening of cooking and campfire fun after you cool off in the pool!

Concerts: Everyone knows The Gorge at George. Sunland is by far the closest community to rent homes to the Gorge. Stay with us and catch one of the shuttles up and see your favorite shows.

Wine: Sunland is surrounded by amazing vineyards. Be sure to stop in at Cave B for some amazing wine tasting, just up the hill overlooking the Columbia gorge.

These are just some of the highlights of what the area has to offer. Check with us for more details!

A pool is advertised but upon arrival there is a note stating guests are not allowed to use it. Why advertise it then? There’s a decent amount of water damage to the hallway ceiling, and in the bathroom around the tubs faucet. I’m guessing that’s why there were so many ants. Ants in the kitchen: on the counter and in the sink. Ants all over the bathroom: in the tub, on the shower walls, on the bathroom counter, under the bathroom sink, and on the floor. The bathroom also had dirt/dust on the back of the toilet seat and corner of the shower. The kitchen had some cobwebs/spider webs too. The AC was nice.

Great location for The Gorge concerts. Lovely, easy walk to park. Pizza and convenience store around the corner. Property pictures show three beds in main room. This is not accurate. But, the couch is modular and becomes a nice bed.

Perfect location for a quick get away. Has all you need. AC, large kitchen, comfy beds, close to river yet far enough where it’s quite. Little bit dated appliances but function well. Overall a great stay!
