Stayed Apr 16, 2026This is the second time our large group has stayed at this property, and we would do it again. The place is clean, kitchen is well stocked, and there’s plenty of room for everyone. Love the option for the shuttle as well.

Stayed Sep 4, 2025We (8 friends) had a wonderful stay at this gorgeous home. The property is beautifully designed, with comfortable furnishings, and loads of amenities—a great place to relax and recharge. The kitchen was well-equipped, making meals easy, and the entire home felt thoughtfully maintained. The setting is equally impressive: stunning views, a relatively short commute to downtown Asheville, and unbeatable access to hiking trails—including one leading to an overlook—as well as a 45-minute hike to the impressive Folk Art Center and other local highlights. We loved being able to step outside and be immersed in nature so quickly. One note for future guests: the road leading up to the lodge is steep, so you may want to avoid bringing a car with a low chassis. All in all, this home exceeded our expectations and made our Asheville visit truly special!

Stayed Jul 26, 2025We had a great time here and the property is well appointed and nice. Each bedroom is large and has its own bathroom and shower facilities. We saw a bear family a couple times, So keep that in mind as you stay. The road to the house is winding and narrow, but we never ran into any other traffic so it was OK. Asheville is minutes away, so the location is great.

Stayed May 8, 2025We had an amazing long weekend getaway with friends at the Lodge! The house was perfect for our group – the bedrooms were spacious and very comfortable, giving everyone plenty of room to relax (best part was each has their own bathroom) The place was spotless, and you could tell the host really cares about the property. We also took advantage of the car service for a group trip to Asheville, which made everything so easy and stress-free. The front porch offered stunning scenic views, and it was a perfect spot to unwind in the evening. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed, making meal prep a breeze.Simms was responsive and accommodating, ensuring we had everything we needed for a great stay. Highly recommend this place for a fun, relaxing trip with friends or family! Note - this is a LODGE (no insolation), so noise carries. Folks walking on the second floor can be heard by anyone below.

Stayed Feb 21, 2025We have a large group that comes to Asheville every year to check out the brewery scene. The Wayward Moose Inn was perfect for us. The property was plenty big enough for the whole group and having the ability to schedule a shuttle ride to downtown was an added bonus. We’ll definitely be looking to stay here when we come back.

Stayed Nov 21, 2024Overall, we had a great trip. There was nothing that lessened the enjoyment we had together as a family. However, there were a few things that may be normal in a mountain log cabin, but perhaps could be upgraded. There were a lot of stairs into the house and guest house and only one bedroom on the main floor of main house so seniors had a harder time of it. Cleaning was hit and miss. Large cobwebs in places in the house, large soaking tubs in guest house were dirty. Some things did not work properly - upstairs bath had faulty toilet so we had to jiggle the handle after each flush. That bathroom is also carpeted which was different. The main house primary bedroom door got stuck so we had to climb through an open window to open it from the inside. There were a lot of wasps in guest house. Views were beautiful, house was large enough to accommodate 14 people and baby, kitchen was well-stocked to cook a Thanksgiving meal. Overall, we had a very good time.

Stayed Sep 13, 2024This is probably the nicest rental property I’ve ever stayed in. The views were amazing, every room is spacious and has a bathroom. Highly recommend this place. Be aware that the house is at the top of a mountain on an unpaved road, so make sure you have a vehicle that can handle that. Simms and Hunter were both great and Hunter gave us a ride to and from downtown Asheville.

Stayed Aug 4, 2024I have eight siblings and their spouses. We used this Vrbo for our family reunion. This moose lodge was wonderful! Each of my siblings had their own bedroom and bathroom, which was very nice. The common areas were super! We had a wonderful time! The views, and the shuttle to various venues we wanted to go to was an added plus. I highly recommend this place.

Stayed Jul 28, 2024We hosted a family reunion here - 20 of us from all over the world. The lodge was well appointed and set up for a group of our size. Gorgeous views, great location, well equipped and responsive owner. Loved that every bedroom had its own bathroom, plus multiple dishwashers and refrigerators. Would stay here again - highly recommend!
