Stayed Jul 25, 2025Wit’s End was the PERFECT setting for our family reunion. With ages ranging from 13 to 92, we had space for everyone. Our family has had reunions every year since the mid 1960’s and this year everyone agreed that they would like to return to Wit’s End next year. The best part for us was the living/dining area off the kitchen, with two long dining tables, where everyone could sit down to meals at the same time. In between meals, there was plenty of conversation and jigsaw puzzling in the living room. More conversations were had on the porch. The downstairs game room was a magnet for the teens to twenties folks. We had a great hike on the property one day and another the next day in the Conasauga Forest, a short drive away. The pavilion was the place for after-dinner cornhole. Our 13-year-old nephew and 92-year-old Grandmom were the champs! When we finally quieted down, we enjoyed the sound of the creek, just a few feet away. For the cooking crew, the kitchen was a dream. Two fridges, two separate beverage and prep areas, two ovens and an icemaker made our communal cooking so easy. The bedrooms are well appointed with comfortable beds and linens, and the bathrooms were beautiful and fully stocked with linens, soaps, and shampoos. Finally, our host John was super gracious and welcoming and replied to our questions and communications almost immediately. I highly recommend Wit’s End and hosts John and Laurie.

Stayed May 24, 2025We spent a week at this house with our family of 15—from toddlers to grandparents—and it was perfect. The spacious layout never felt crowded, with a large living area and two dining tables allowing us to gather or spread out as needed. The kitchen had everything required to cook for our group, and meal prep was easy even with several people working at once.Kids loved exploring the creek and forest behind the house. Despite rainy days, they splashed in the creek and tromped through the woods. Adults appreciated quiet bedrooms and cozy corners for reading or napping. On sunny moments, the deck was ideal for morning coffee and relaxed gatherings.Even with rain, the house kept us busy with board games and enjoying family time at the big dining tables. Between ample space, comfortable communal areas, and a beautiful natural setting, this property met all our needs. We’d gladly return for another stay and recommend it to any large family seeking a roomy, peaceful retreat.

Stayed Feb 7, 2025A group of ladies from church gathered this weekend at your amazing property. It’s the second year in a row we have come and we will be back! We absolutely love the serene setting. The house was well appointed inside and out and we had ample room for cooking, playing games, and chatting in your comfy living spaces. There was plenty of room for us to sleep in luxury and we loved the outdoor fireplace. Thanks again for hosting us!

Stayed Nov 7, 2024I can’t brag on this property enough! It’s in a beautiful location, tons of room for guests to spread out, soooo clean and very convenient for any small gathering or event. We decided to have our wedding there and made a weekend of it with our closest friends and family. Our best man/family and maid of honor/family stayed with our family of four in the cabin and we didn’t even take up all of the beds. The property itself is very serene and quiet, and the house is gorgeous inside and out. The kids/teens loved having their own space downstairs and enjoyed the outdoor fireplace for hanging out. My fav part was the large deck with the sounds of the babbling brook coming up from below. They keep the home VERY clean and organized, their cleaning lady Miss Kim must work overtime cuz that place was spotless and super organized. They have several things that you need to save you a trip to town if you forget anything. Only complaints are the wonky driveway, but that really can’t be helped, and cell service is terrible. Make sure to read the planning packet sent to you by the host, cuz we had “fun” trying to find the WiFi password the first night until I just called him. But he responded very quickly and we didn’t need anything else during our stay. We ended up just writing it on a chalkboard piece for future guests lol. Definitely would love to rent again for a family weekend to relax and enjoy some hiking. Worth every penny!!!

Stayed Sep 30, 2024This was perfect for our group of 8. The kitchen was stocked with every appliance we could think of. Plenty of gathering space on the main with great dining space. Very clean and neat. We spent some time at the pavilion by the creek. The rushing water is so peaceful and can be heard from the house. Everyone was wishing we had another day. The house can handle very a large group, but is designed for comfort and conversation. The hosts were very easy to communicate with and answered any questions we had before the trip quickly. We are already planning another trip and this is where everyone wants to stay.

Stayed Aug 6, 2024The house is very large and easily accommodated 3 couples and 4 teenagers. The youngest crew was happy in the basement where the TV, game system and pool table are housed. There was an odor issue caused by a leaky shower drain in the basement, but the host called a plumber for it once notified. The different floors are very soundproofed, you really couldn’t hear anything from one floor to the next, great for getting away. The porch was nice. We had to reset a breaker before the ceiling fans would work out there, but they created a great breeze and kept flying bugs away. The amenities and thoughtful touches in the house are numerous. We loved the separate butler’s pantry and coffee bar. The bears made many, many appearances. There were at least 10 different bears that we could tell apart, and they are not afraid to come right up on the porch. We have pictures where the mama bear’s nose is pressed to the kitchen window while her three cubs played on top of our car. One larger male tore the top off the bear box on the side of the house one night. He didn’t manage to get into the one on the front porch. It’s smaller and boxed in on three sides. So I’d call for more frequent pickup of trash rather than use the side box. My mom didn’t get out and enjoy as much of the property as planned because the bears were so close throughout the days. They were not very afraid of people and didn’t scatter very quickly if we yelled. They posed for a lot of pictures.

Stayed Jul 20, 2024One of our best stays yet! Our family of 10 adults and 6 kids between 3-12 absolutely loved our time at Wit’s End. With seven bedrooms and tons of bathrooms, everyone had the space they needed and more. This is truly a reunion house with two large tables, two kitchens and two laundry facilities. So, instead of being able to “sleep 16”.(but you find the kitchen table that seats 8, this home can actually accommodate everyone! We enjoyed playing at the creek, walking the BEAUTIFUL grounds, hanging at the pavilion and reading in the hammocks. We took a couple day trips to nearby Lakes, went hiking and visited a nearby apple orchard (that was really a store, but was great.) Visited Blue Ridge and the town of Ellijay and did four puzzles! Loved the comfortable furniture, the layout (good for gathering and games) and were so thankful for the well-stocked kitchen and many books and magazines. Honestly, really loved this spot and would highly recommend! Even saw a Mama bear and her three cubs!

Stayed May 30, 2024It was a nightmare. We were double booked. I booked and paid in full August of 2023. When we got there , another family was entering. They booked on another platform. We booked on VRBO - 10 months ago. I had 20 family members coming and the owner gave the other family the place. He said is was a VRBO mistake. I question - wasn't he informed when we booked and paid on 8/2023? We were without a place to go. I was sick. VRBo was not helpful in helping us find another place. We got lucky and booked a last minute place in Morganton, GA. The owner was great - she did accommodate for our last minute crisis. I was very upset that VRBO was unable to help us and I'm not sure I trust the owner with this oversight. Don't understand why he didn't know months ago this place was rented. I hope this never happens to you!
