It was the first locomotive train built in the United States and had its inaugural run in 1830!

We had an amazing time! The house is so spread out and well equipped for a family vacation. Every person felt like they had exactly what they needed to get the most out of their vacation. We easily cooked for for all 18 guests with no problems or shortage of dishes (we did have to buy our own all purpose and bleach cleaners, there was nothing at the house). The house was clean when we arrived with extra blankets in each room.Everyone felt like they had space to retreat if all they wanted to do was relax. We spent multiple nights around the firepit after skiing all day (we had to buy an axe to cut our own wood, but it was so worth it!) The downstairs area was our absolute favorite. The 200 year old table that used to be a train station ticket counter is absolutely stunning!! We spent almost all of our time down here playing board games, video games, basketball tournaments, and hot tubbing on the back porch. Our ages ranged from 6 to 82, but everyone had everything they needed. We are already looking for the next time we can book again. Highly recommend!!

Great property, enjoyed reunion at Lees McRae. One neighbor does get up at 5 am for work, asked for quiet time on Wednesday. Went over and met him on Thursday. No problems afterwards. Very nice, just gets up early. We went indoors around 10 pm.Great house for 14 people.

We notified the rental company that we may have a late arrival so they provided an after hours number we could text, After a 14 hour drive, we arrived late that evening.. It was very dark, no ground lighting. There are drops at entry my mag lights were very helpful. I found the lower lever sliding glass door unlocked. I notified my daughter about the situation and that I was going search the entire house before they could enter. I was afraid of animals. I searched the home, I found empty beer cans and blankets on the floor in the game room. Now afraid someone was there. I found the home very dirty, the beds were disgusting, blood on pillows, body hair on the sheets . they looked as though just slept in. Bed blankets laying on the floor in the dirty closets next to the full vacuum cleaners not on the beds. Bathtub drain with hair, bugs in the kitchen cupboards, food in the garbage can, silverware. I notified the management asking for clean sheets an told them what we walked into. Their response was no one was on that could bring up clean sheets but would make things right first thing in the morning. There was no mention in the rules about washer and dryer on site, I did not bring laundry soap. I asked management if they could provide soap that night so I could start washing the beds and clean the house. I was told not their responsibility to provide cleaning supplies. We wiped down the naugahyde couches so my grandkids and daughter could sleep. Glad we brought extra towels for the hot tub and car blankets because that was all we had to sleep with. It was 10:50 am the next morning when I called the office asking when someone would be there. The rest of my family was coming. We were there for a family wedding. I spent all the first night washing everything with my dish soap and clorox clean up & continued cleaning the next day spent $150 supplies to clean the 2nd night. The hot tub was filled with leaves and water dirty. After seeing filthy home, I would not let anyone use it. I complained and sent 30 plus pictures to management that I took upon arrival. The pictures showed that this home has not been cleaned for very long time. I had to ask for a refund of cleaning fee and the night we could not sleep in the beds. I should be refunded for the time I spent cleaning that home and refund what I spent on cleaning supplies which I left for next poor soul that rents from Carolina Cabins. It was awful there. I feel bad for the owners of the home!

What a perfect time of the year to visit! The fall colors were stunning! The house was just right for our family of 9 adults and 3 kids -- there was plenty of space and fun things to do. We had a great time.

This cosy cabin nestled in the trees and located beside a creek is the perfect place to relax and breathe the cool mountain air. Great place for family and kids. Be sure to read about the history of the cabin and it’s contents. Will definitely return.

We needed a place for our family of 14 to vacation together and Majestic Mountain Haus delivered. There is plenty of room to gather and to separate. It is near enough to the attractions we are interested in, and it has all the necessary amenities. My only gripe has to do with the rental company’s fees. The property includes a hot tub, however no chemicals or instructionsare made available to the renter (as they are with other rentals). Instead, there is a $37.50 charge to have someone come take care of it, unless the water needs to be changed, then the fee is $100. Our visit was 9 days long. There is no question that the hot tub will need servicing several times during that duration. This should be included as part of the expected cost of doing business.
