Welcome to a 2500 acre nature sanctuary and the protected headwaters of Big East Fork Valley.
The LakeTrail House is right in the middle of abundant nature, home to spiders, moths, caterpillars and a riot of diverse wildlife. These natives occasionally explore the house and end up stuck; please let us know if you should encounter any of these critters. If you do not LOVE nature, please do not come. We choose to be surrounded by nature and sometime it walks into the house on 2, 4, 6, or 8 legs! Mice (cute country ones, not mean city ones), may be living nearby so don’t leave food outside of containers at night. At certain times of the year we may be invited by hoards of millipedes or asian beetles. They come, they die, we sweep them up, and we wait for the next round. Country living is not for everyone!
The LakeTrail House sits on Backbone Ridge outside Leiper's Fork. Lake Gratitude Natural Area is just down the hill and has great hiking trails and picnicking. Contact the non-profit Center for Sustainable Stewardship for access to watercraft and bicycle rentals.
We generally leave our guests alone, but may visit at an appropriate time to say hello.
There is convenient bicycle and walking access onto the scenic Natchez Trace Parkway. This lodging is near Lake Gratitude, which lies at the beginning of a pristine creek within a gorgeous valley.
The CSS Adventure Center (just down the hill} services bicycles and watercraft in exchanges for donations. 20 miles from downtown Nashville and 8 miles from historic Franklin and light years away from the stress of city life. The Fork Inn is part of a 1400-acre Conservation easement and features a 6-acre lake and many hiking trails. Enjoy biking, hiking, canoeing, massage and more! Nearby Big East Fork Farms is just down the hill and provides organic produce and sweet animals (donkey, cow, pigs, goats, chickens) for petting and interaction. Rosie the donkey and Winston the cow love attention (and veggies)!
THE BASE PRICE IS FOR FOUR (4) PERSONS. There is a $40/person/night additional charge for the number of persons over four.
Please note that the LakeTrail house is a COUNTRY RETREAT; we do not have cable internet. We use satellite internet that may not work as fast as you are used to, especially during stormy weather or if you use multiple devices simultaneously. If your data allotment is used up the data speed may slow (in which case you may purchase more if you desire). In summary we have internet and it works, but if you are in need city speeds and bandwidth, you may wish to rent elsewhere.

If you want to be a part of nature this is the place. We enjoyed our stay.
The home is charming and comfortable. Although the listing did say remote, maybe a note about Wifi access would be nice. DSL dial up internet and remote setting made it difficult to navigate and communicate. We also had a mouse (and judging by the droppings, there was more than one). There were millipede type worms on the floor throughout the house as well. Overall a very nice place that would be even better with some TLC and a little cleaning.
We as a family absolutely loved the seclusion of the location and it was very relaxed!! The kitchen wasn't quite as equipped as we'd hoped but got by :) We do wish there was fishing closer but all in all was extremely happy!!!
Very cool place to stay
Beautiful leafs it’s definitely a place to enjoy outdoors not much close to shop at so definitely suggest bringing groceries
This wonderful house is just as advertised. It’s a great place to get away with friends or family.
It was a perfect area for our party since we were doing the TN Whisky Trail.
If your wanting to be in the country and out of the city this place is for you. But if your wanting to see downtown Nashville then stay closer to the city.
A little hard to find but worth the trip. Peaceful and secluded.
