This was our 5th year at this property. 6 adults and 5 kids ranging in age from 6 to 12. We love that we can dock our boats, fish, swim and float in the lake, play on the huge grounds, sit by the campfire singing and playing guitar with the owner and friends, eat meals all together at the enormous bar, and enjoy life all right there!!! There is plenty of room for all 11 of us!! We rent his pontoon for a family fun day. Will be returning next year as well!! Thanks a lot Gary!!!

Our group had a very pleasant stay at this property. The accommodations were as they were represented. Gary was very pleasant and helpful. There was ample room for everyone inside and out. Our group ranged from 8 to 12 people throughout the week. Teenage to elderly! We had great weather, played a lot of bags and had ample time in and on the water!

This was our second year at the chip lodge. we liked it so much the first year that we had to come back. the first year we showed up there was maybe 15 people and the house easily accommodated us. its a rustic vibe. things are old and perhaps that is the charm and what we like about it. the highlight for us is definitely the slow cruises on the pontoon boat as we explored the lake. The kitchen is huge and designed to feed a lot of people. Gary is a nice guy. He lives right next door which is helpful if you have any questions about the lake, boats, lures, fishing, and everything else. The view from the large deck is exceptional. Enjoy your stay here. I'd recommend this place for any large group.

Gary, the owner, is great to work with and very accommodating. The building is old and very rustic. It needs some work. It’s a fisherman's cabin. I took my sons and grandsons there for a long fishing weekend, for that it was good. I’m not sure my wife would have liked it, but for us it worked out well. It’s like walking into an early 1900’s lodge. We had to bring our own towels, which I would have preferred to not have done. Outside of the cabin is a car port that is filled with stuff and junk all over the place, that you look at when you walk outside. The dock is old and looks like it is going to collapse. If you’re looking for a fishing cabin that accommodates 10 people it will work for you.

We spent 7 glorious days at Skillys Big Chip Lodge and loved every minute of our stay. The lodge would be great for a family/group getaway but we found it was also perfect for just the two of us. Vintage & rustic chic - fish right off the dock & fall colors. Great host

There were 8 beds for 8 guys. That was the good part. Everyone said the beds came with the place, many, many years ago and should be replaced immediately. Flies and Asian Beetles and stinging wasps were very annoying. Had to walk around with a fly swatter constantly. I guess you get what you pay for.

Just stayed at the Big Chip escape. Pictures don't do justice to the unique and nostalgic cabin with the best view of the lake of any cabin on the Chip. Gary was hospitable and available whenever we had a question. The cabin itself is a unique North Woods experience with all of the features that a group from 5-14 would need.

Great location on a great big body of water that provided great fishing (once getting really good tips from Gary and local bait store) Really good conveniences on site like piers, firewood live minnows, fish cleaning house! The cabin is old school and very rustic. The bar is cool as is the deck. Gary the owner was extremely nice and friendly. All the fishing conveniences you could ask for! We will be back

The location is beautiful, the owner is nice and helpful, and the lodge has a lot of neat stuff in it. But if you have folks that like things a bit less rustic and clean then this may not be for you. There were mouse droppings on the counters and in each cabinet and drawer in the kitchen. Luckily we brought paper plates and utensils.

This was our 4th year at Big Chip Lodge. We really enjoy the lodge as it is right on the lake and we can swim and dock boats/jet ski on lakefront shore. We caught MANY fish right off the piers!! Gary, the owner, has minnows worms, and leeches for sale at a shed by the pier We love the size of the lodge as there are 11 people and a dog. The bar allows us to all eat/socialize/play games together, as well as watch TV and monitor the lakefront/shore area where children are playing. Absolutely love the new sliding patio door to the huge deck!! There is plenty of storage area in the kitchen and pantry for all food and 2 fridges and a huge freezer. There are plenty of bedrooms/sleeping areas for all to be comfy and private. The owner is right next door for questions and help or to come and have fun by the campfire. We also rent the pontoon for all to go out on the lake together. We highly recommend Big Chip Lodge and will continue to vacation there next year as well!!

This place is old and has a lot of history. And with that age and history comes a lot of quirks. If you are wanting a modern floor plan and everything straight and new this probably isn't the place for you. However, for our group it was perfect. The quirkiness and rustic charms were perfectly fine for us. The kitchen is designed for three people or more to cooking at the same time, which was a huge bonus for our group. There's no air conditioning in the main bar room which wasn't a big deal as the week we were there it was in the low 70s but there is two functional ceiling fans above the bar. 3 of the 4 bedrooms have window a/c. If you like to fish the bait shop that is right there at the edge of the water on the property is pretty ideal. Access to the fishing and pontoon boats is a nice perk. Having Gary right next door is helpful. He's a very nice guy and a good resource to answer any questions you might have about the lake or fishing. The lake has many destination spots where the pontoon boat comes in handy. We already booked the place again for next year so that sums it up.
