Excellent home! Everything was first class. Thank you very much.
We came to Madison to support my mom through her surgery. It was important we have a place to relax and unwind after a long day at the hospital. This home was clean, comfortable and the neighborhood was so peaceful. The kitchen was wonderful and the owners have been incredibly thoughtful making sure you have all of the essentials. It was a quick 13 minutes to the hospital and just a few minutes to restaurants, shopping and grocery stores. We were able to focus on mom and get some rest in between visits. The owners were so considerate and checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed.
2 blocks from the lake in a wooded residential neighborhood. Hosts were friendly and well organized. See what appears when the wall tapestry rolls up by remote .
Loved the house and the owner was very accommodating. The only thing negative I can say is that, unless you have lots of kids or adults who do not like to sleep together, there could be more double beds instead of so many single beds.
This is an adorable, comfortable, perfect home for a Madison stay!!!! Great location, lovely home with everything you need, and much more!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!
Well appointed home, immaculate and cozy, responsive owners, great location, would stay again for sure
We have traveled quite a bit and stayed at many VRBO properties over the years, and this property stands out. The house is immaculate. You can tell that a great deal of thought was put into making everything as simple as possible for the guests through thoughtful planning and simple discrete notes placed in spots throughout the house. The children immediately figured out the XBOX in the downstairs play area (with the box hidden away for a very clean look) and the younger children enjoyed the various age appropriate toys around the house. The kitchen had everything you could need, from a top of the line Nespresso machine, a cast-iron skillet that had been perfectly seasoned, and (call me an appliance freak) the top of the line Breville toaster that I have been eyeing for my own house. The location is absolutely ideal for Madison, just far enough away from downtown to enjoy the tranquility of the area and only a short walk to the lake (and the Original Pancake House for breakfast). Our hosts knew we had young children and took the liberty to set out some hula-hoops on the first sunny day of our stay. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Madison.
owners extremely helpful and friendly. great location. all the amenities plus. clean. spacious. very comfortable. A+
Great location. Very quiet neighborhood, and the home is very accommodating for any needs. Basement was very cozy, and the heated sauna was awesome!!
Cozy with all the things you need provided! Great location and amazing host!
I was so fortunate to find this incredible home. My wife and two kids also absolutely loved it! The hosts were so accommodating and our 10 day vacation was everything we wanted and more. My son and I would walk to lake every morning and we created great memories that will last a lifetime.
This was our second time staying at the cottage for Ironman Wisconsin. We stayed comfortably with 4 adults and 1 child. We cooked almost all meals at the house. Great kitchen tools/appliances....crockpot, blender, lot of cutting boards etc. So close to a lot of great restaraunts, mini-golf, National Mustard Museum, and the Ironman course. Mile 9/22 turn around of the IM run course is an easy 5 minute drive to a parking lot to cheer your athlete on! Super easy to get to the festivities and all areas of the course. Nice, quiet neighborhood. Friendly proprietors who are available for any questions or help if needed...but give you plenty of space to have your own family time as well. Lots of "little extras" for kids, princess castle, Lincoln Logs, etc. for use in the basement. Vast supply of paper products, towels, hand soap etc. Homey environment with professional, laid back owners...thanks for another great stay!
We rent vacation rental homes often, and this was a great experience. First, I always look for enough high-quality beds, and the needs of our group of six was well-met. Next, I check to make sure that there is air conditioning if traveling in the summer (check). A modern and well-equipped kitchen is nice. (check - one of the bast in recent times) Also, when picking a place I check to make sure that there is a nice bathroom or two (check), safety, privacy and quiet (check) and that the owners are not deferring any upkeep (check). It's always nice when there is a code door lock, because that way our group can split up (and it's even nicer when the code changes between guests).
We rented this place for two weeks this summer and had a great time. I can't speak highly enough of the owners and how impressed I was with them responding immediately and thoroughly to a few early issues when we settled in. It was nothing that couldn't be rectified in a few minutes but their willingness to help was amazing. They truly want you to have a comfortable and relaxing stay in their home. We wen't huge fans of the third bedroom being down in the basement but with it just being two adults and our two young daughters, we just used the upstairs rooms. The house is quite small but it has everything you need to be comfy and cosy throughout your stay.
The hosts were very flexible with our schedule and needs. Highly recommend!
I came to Madison for less than fun reasons. My mom needed to be at a health facility for a special ventilator that her hometown didn't have. I was living in Thailand at the time. I packed up my 2 year old boy and we rented this house for a couple weeks to oversee my mom's care. My husband was traveling at the time for work and so it made for a busy life with a toddler, some work to do in my spare time :), visiting my mom regularly and so forth. This house was perfect for a number of reasons. It's well stocked with bedding, kitchen supplies, even spices, garbage bags, toilet paper, laundry detergent, dishwasher pellets for the dishwasher and for washing by hand. It has super easy to use appliances. It's all high quality. No hassles and nothing caused me more work. It's a one floor house and smaller than what I visualized from the pictures on line, but that was fine for us. I told the owners I was coming with a two year old boy. They had a height chair, a travel crib, and a gate to block the stairs to the basement set up (The basement is nice and finished with a tv and fireplace - great for not making noise after the toddler was asleep). I didn't have to bring that stuff from across the world on this trip. They even had toys in the basement that I used. They lent me a small kid pool for a few days when the weather was nice . They invited me over to where they live where they have chickens he could chase and talk too. The price was higher than what I usually pay for a house rental, but I wanted easy for a difficult time and I received that. Oh and the internet was great. It handled everything with my distance work and my Netflix addiction after the little guy went to sleep. The driveway is long and great for parking. And it was a 15 minute drive to the hospital and a 10 minute drive to where my niece goes to graduate school. All in all, I give this 5 star. Did I mention really nice owners? They were really nice and I felt safe during my time when I was alone in a new place learning as I went. Thank you!
The house is cozy and charming, located in a quiet neighborhood near the lake and just a short drive from downtown. Rooms are clean and tastefully decorated, and well stocked with luxurious duvets, towels etc. Jussi and Rosey are outstanding hosts - responsive, hospitable and very attentive. They left us a welcoming bottle of wine as well eggs, fruit and yogurt for breakfast. Jussi did an outstanding job shoveling the driveway after snow storms, even scraping the snow off my rental car. It was a stressful time for my family who had traveled from overseas to support a sick family member in hospital. The house provided a wonderful sanctuary for us to return to after daily hospital visits.
We stayed at the house over the long Thanksgiving weekend while visiting our son. We typically stay at VRBO/AirB&B when we travel and feel this was by far one of the nicest. It was comfortable and homey. Would stay there again on our next visit.
This is a great home in a lovely neighborhood. The home is small, but everything is well done. The backyard is very nice. The kitchen is very well equipped and laid out. I cooked dinner one night and had everything I needed. The house is a short walk to Lake Mendota. Do not miss The Original Pancake House for breakfast. Excellent! Mid Town Pub was very good too.
This is our home away from home, and the only place we like to stay when we are in Madison, WI. It is perfect for a group or family, has everything you need, and is close to just about everything. We really do love this place and the owners are awesome as well.
I booked this location for Epic's UGM my colleagues and I attended last week. It was tough finding hotels, so I turned to VRBO. There were several locations available, but this location was well worth it. It was only 25 minutes from the Epic campus and worked out very well for us. The house was fantastic. The accommodations were as we expected and had no access issues during our stay. We would stay here again. Communication with the home owner was prompt. Instructions outlined well. Thank you again.
Awesome. Perfect .couldnt of been better. The house had everything you would ever need to feel right at home. High quality amenities.
We enjoyed our stay. The house is great, well furnished and has a great location. The owner is friendly and generous. We will stay here again.
Our stay at the Snellman’s guesthouse was wonderful and the property went far beyond our expectations. The home was charming, clean, organized, delightfully decorated, kid-friendly and extremely well maintained. We felt spoiled by so many amenities and extra details. There were clear and helpful instructions, tips and suggestions left in an easy to follow handbook. The location was perfect and the neighborhood was quiet and safe. We hope to stay again during our next trip to Madison and have already recommended the property to our friends and family. This would certainly be my dream home if I were to move back to Madison! Thank you for the wonderful hospitality!
A quaint cottage in a beautiful and peacefull neighborhood yet just a short drive to all the fun things Madison has to offer. We enjoyed many morning and afternoon walks along the tree lined streets. While we did most of our dining out, the kitchen was well equipped for cooking. We definitely plan to stay here again the next time we're in Madison visiting family.
We went for graduation and it accommodates us nicely. It was a perfect distance from the hustle and bustle of downtown. Very nice indeed!
The house was very comfortable for 5 adults and one child. The location near the lake is good and central for our stay and going to our McFarland family. Lots of room with living room upstairs and den downstairs. We had everything we needed. The owners even left extra cooking items for us. Highly recommend!
This is the second time me and my colleagues and I have stayed at the house and we LOVE it! It is by far our favorite place to stay when we travel. The owners live next door and are very nice and accommodating. They really make you feel at home when you are there. I would recommend this place to anyone!
Pleasant stay with my family in Madison. The guests have welcome us and asked during the stay if any questions. Really nice people. Good informations before and during the stay. The house has toys for kids, Xbox , basket and my kids loved it!!! We were there for summer and I just can recommand the house, even for 8 people, like we were, for this period.
we were 8 people
My father had under gone a very serious operation at UW Madison Medical Center the day before Thanksgiving. Everyone of my family members wanted to be with him during his hospital stay but we knew it would be very costly to get hotel rooms. We found this amazing home on VRBO which was only a few miles from the hospital and really centrally located to everything we needed. I have so much to say about it. First, the owners of this home are wonderful to work with. They were so accommodating to us! It was a holiday week and they were out of town, but they still were available to us. We had a total of nine family members staying in the home. When we arrived, we found this adorable brick home with fresh snow all over the trees in the front. It looked like a home we see in holiday hallmark movies. It was so warm and comfortable. They neighborhood is very nice and safe. It is really close to the lake where we walked around every day for exercise. We all had plenty of sleeping space, even with adding two air mattresses in the basement family room. We had no issues with running out of hot water in the two bathrooms. The house was extremely clean with ample bedding, pillows, towels, toiletries, etc. The kitchen table was large enough to fit all nine around for our Thanksgiving meal which was catered in from this fantastic grocery store right down the street. Our reservation was from the 25th thru the 30th. However, we needed to stay an additional week as my father did not get out of the hospital as early as we were hoping. The home was available for the week so we extended our stay. My Mother who is 86 has not stopped talking about how comfortable she was there and how thankful she is that we found this VRBO. I highly recommend this home for your next stay!
I booked this location for a football game weekend. We stayed Thursday-Sunday. The stay was fantastic! 4 of us stayed in the house and had ample space to relax and sleep. Two bathrooms was also a plus! Driveway with off street parking was a huge plus too. The owners of the home are very accommodating and helpful. Any question or concern we had was answered promptly. Location is great for accessing downtown, Campus and many other sites of Madison. I would definitely recommend this property with no hesitation. When we come back to Madison, we will definitely try and book this property again.
I booked this location for me and 7 of my friends for a weekend away. The space was perfect with plenty of room to sleep and gather together. The backyard was great, even though it was a bit to chilly to stay out there too long. The location was a short walk for breakfast, and a small shop just up the road. Everyone enjoyed their stay at this location, and I would definitely stay here again on my next stop in Madison. We had no problems the entire time, and the Sauna was a definite plus for everyone! A great way to relax.
My family stayed at the home for a summer weekend and had a wonderful time. The house was large enough for my husband and I and our five children. Everyone slept comfortably. The kitchen was very modern, and we enjoyed several meals at the home. The table expanded to fit all of us. There were several areas for us to relax. The kids enjoyed the game system, and we appreciated their DVD library. The home is close to several grocery stores (Brennan's, Metcalfe's, and Willy Street West) and Hilldale Mall. It was a quick drive to the square for the farmer's market and State Street and the shops on Monroe Street. The zoo is also very nearby. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The house is clean with many amenities. We are looking forward to staying here again!
Lovely home and well kept but much too small for 6 people. The dining table only seats 4 and the third bedroom was twin beds in a basement room with no windows (is it legal to have a sleeping room with no fire escape?) Although this home would be great for 4 people, we were not comfortable with 6 people.
This charming property was the perfect home base for our long weekend in Madison. Immaculate and well maintained. Situated on a pretty street - very quiet and private. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. This was our 3rd trip using a VRBO listing. Another winner!!!!!
My husband completed Ironman Wisconsin, and this was a GREAT place to stay for the days leading up to, and after the race. We stayed at the home with one other couple, and our 4 month old baby. We had plenty of space to spread out! Bedrooms upstairs and downstairs allowed for my husband to sleep nights leading up to the race downstairs, so he was not disturbed by the other couple or our infant. Bedrooms were large enough for our pack n' play to be set up...and there was a washer and dryer to accommodate all of the laundry associated with an infant! The neighborhood is quiet, and relaxing! The home is VERY close to a portion of the run course, and is a couple minute drive from the start, finish, and other portions of the course! There is a fabulous small fruit stand/grocery within blocks, and we walked there several times to purchase local Wisconsin products. The home had a great welcome guide detailing the area. We grilled out one evening in the backyard, and enjoyed the convenience of being able to prepare most of our meals at the house. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking for a family. Property was well maintained, a charming home with modern amenities....it will be hard to top if we return to Madison for the Ironman in years to come! The only thing I might add to the listing would be, if you are traveling with an infant or small children who aren't used to showering...there are only showers in the home. We bathed our child in a small tub we brought from home, so it was not a big deal! (Not sure if it said this in the description initially and I just missed it!) Thanks for a great stay, if you choose to book your trip at this home, you won't be disappointed!
We had a wonderful time when we stayed at this lovely VRBO. It was clean, modern, and well appointed. It was in a quiet, residential setting that was close to everything (campus, downtown, and the lakes) in Madison. The owner was friendly and responsive to our needs while we stayed there. We look forward to booking this VRBO again when we visit Madison.
We were in Madison for our son's wedding and this house was perfect. We had an informal gathering of the wedding party in the backyard. We informed the owners and they were very accomodating. We had some difficulty with the coffee maker and within a few hours, a new one was purchased and delivered to us. The house is very nice, a craftsman retreat. We have had great luck with VRBO and this was no exception. We would highly recommend this property.
We (7 adults) had a wonderful time here and the owners, who live next door, were very very helpful. The house might be a little too tight for 8 adults. The location of the house is perfect (you can bike to the campus and the downtown-area) and the owners do give good information about the environment.
Top-rate visit: hospitality, property, location, flexibility, and many amenities. Middleton is a great suburban community with many conveniences and perfect proximity to downtown Madison. The cottage is located on a very quiet street yet just off a main artery, University. Everything about the cottage is exactly as welcoming, clean, maintained and updated as appears in the posting. So cozy that we found ourselves spending much more time relaxing with AM coffee and reading as morning flew by. Also, one of the most complete visitor guides for the cottage and surrounding Madison high points. Terrific hosts!
We stayed at this property with our 2 adult daughters. The home is lovely, with original arts & crafts charm. It is a quick walk to a lake and close to major roads. It is located on a quiet street and we were able to walk & bike right from the house. The kitchen was pretty well equipped and we used the gas grill on the nice patio. Although we did not have time to use them much, the house is equipped with several flat screen TVs and a basement recreation room if you need extra space. We would definitely stay here again!
My husband and I stayed in this lovely home during our recent visit to Wisconsin. Everything was so great. We spent time visiting our relatives, and our grandchildren loved coming over. They could use the TV downstairs and also play in this lovely yard. It is a delightful place and a setting for having guests over for cookouts or inside eating, too. I've told my friends about it and just hope they don't beat me to the next reservation!! A satisfied customer.
My husband and I and our son, daughter-in-law, and their young children spent a week in this lovely home. It was clean and well-furnished, with plenty of seating and a huge table for big family meals. It has been recently updated and renovated in a very attractive and functional manner. The photos and description of the home are excellent and accurate. We made good use of the air-conditioning (it was a warm week), the internet, and the multiple TVs. The kitchen was well supplied with appliances, dishes, pots, pans, and some cooking staples, which to prepare many family meals. Grocery stores are located very close by. The neighborhood is quiet and very family-friendly, and the owner, who lives next door) was extremely helpful. There is a lovely backyard and patio for use in the summer. I was on crutches at the time of the visit, and found the main floor of the house to be very accessible. Other than 1-2 steps to enter the house and a very small edge on the main floor shower, there are no barriers for people on crutches or with canes or walkers. There is easy access to downtown Madison and to Middleton from this location. It is very near the lake and several great parks (including a splash park) for kids, and has plenty of driveway parking. Highly recommended!
This guest house is superb. It has everything to keep a family going for a long weekend or even a week in town. The kitchen, grills, and outdoor dining set make home-cooked meals easy and pleasant. Our small kids loved running around the yard and, especially, the Spring Harbor beach close by. Also convenient are supermarkets, west side restaurants, and even downtown. Although we did not use the sauna, I could imagine that's quite a treat in the winter. All around, it's a lovely spot owned and managed by very friendly folks.
This house was the perfect place for us to stay with some friends during our visit to Madison. The house was clean and well-decorated with good furniture and excellent kitchen appliances. There was plenty of space for us to sit and talk, make food, and even have guests over for a barbeque on the grill. The location was also convenient, only a short drive from the university and downtown.
My husband and I stayed here for a weekend along with 2 other couples. It was perfect. We felt so lucky to have found such a wonderful place to stay at such an affordable price. We had a barbeque in the backyard, all slept comfortably, and the location was great! The home is very comfortable and simply yet stylishly decorated. The owners are super nice and accommodating. We only wish we could have spent a few more days. Thank you!
I was very fortunate to be the first guest in this delightful home. I was in town finishing some work at the University of Wisconsin, and I was especially appreciative of the fact that the house was centrally located and offered the advantage of being away form the hustle and bustle of downtown, while still being accessible to downtown (it is a 5 minute drive to downtown, and the house is just off a major bus line). The house has been recently updated with modern finishings and amenities, including wooden floors, gas hob in the kitchen, dishwasher, washing machine, and HDTV's, and is elegantly decorated, but still homely. The house is also surprisingly large, with kitchen, lounge & dining room, and two bedrooms upstairs, and two bedrooms downstairs in the basement. Staying there was certainly a step above staying at a hotel, and I enjoyed the fact that I could cook my own meals and feel at home in a way that I couldn't in a hotel. The owners are also hospitable, helpful, and accommodating, and they helped make my stay as comfortable as possible. I very much enjoyed staying there - it was like a home away from home - and considering the excellent facilities on offer, especially for a family, I look forward to staying there again when I'm town.
