Stayed Jul 29, 2022Communication was quick and easy. Our room was clean and comfy. Owner provided all the things you will need for the beach such towels, water paddle board, beach chairs, umbrella, etc. That was a plus.

Stayed Jun 28, 2022Our family of 5 enjoyed our stay at this studio in the Ilikai Hotel. The space consisted of 1 king bed, 1 sofa bed, 1 small roll-up mattress, 1 bathroom, patio/balcony, and a kitchen (oven, stovetop, microwave, full fridge, and sink. Great for when restaurants are just too much). It was a tight fit for the 5 of us (adults and teenagers), but for a last-minute trip to Honolulu, it was great! The owner was very reponsive and considerate. We were even allowed an early check-in which was very helpful. The room faced the busy Ala Moana Blvd., but we were high enough up that with the AC on, the street noise did not bother us. The unit has the original sliding glass doors and we were not able to figure out how to close them completely. We were initially concerned as the wind would whistle through the door sometimes. We were delighted to find it never disrupted our sleep despite my husband being a light sleeper (Seriously not an issue, but just be aware). We absolutely enjoyed sitting in the shade on the balcony watching the clouds race over the city and mountains. The Ilikai has a mid-century modern exterior, but the unit and common areas are nicely updated. There are shops, cafes, ice cream (hit it on Tuesday, get pineapple), and restaurants in the lobby. The best thing about this property for us was the location. It is at the western end of Waikiki, away from the main craziness, but close enough to walk to when you want that. There are bus stops in front of the hotel and across the street so if you don't want to rent a car, you can get to the airport, Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head, etc. very easily. (We did rent a car for three days and park right across the street with the pass that comes with the unit - very easy to use.) The Bus was on-time and easy to use, especially with Holo cards bought at the nearby ABC store. The Ilikai has 2 pools and has a walk-way to the nearby Hilton lagoon (which is open to the public). This was a beautiful and peaceful place to hang out, and it is also steps from the main beach where we saw turtles every time! The wildlife has really come back during the pandemic. The shallow pool on the second floor seems great for younger kids. We enjoyed sitting on the lounges in the shade with the warm afternoon trades and a good conversation or book. We also liked that it is walkable to the mall and the adjacent park and less crowded (but very beautiful) beach. We will absolutely try to stay here next time!
