Stayed Apr 26, 2018We really enjoyed our stay in this house. The house is really well equipped with plentiful supplies of dishes, silverware, cups/glasses, along with towels/beach towels. It's so nice to not have to wash silverware before every meal so you have enough. We also appreciated the supply of cloth napkins, and more than enough dish towels. The bedrooms have overhead fans, along with standing fans for the extra hot nights. Plenty of windows to keep the breeze moving, too. Living room couches were actually comfortable, and there was plenty of dining space with the indoor table, and the outdoor table. Sitting at the kitchen island as well. Outside was gorgeous, and we all enjoyed the pool. It was never too cool to use, and we had fun with the pool toys. We also used some of the snorkel equipment, and the ice chest when we were out exploring the island. We would definitely consider The Kona Retreat again on a return trip.

Stayed Mar 23, 2018We had an amazing stay! We absolutely loved the private pool! Unlike staying at a condo, its not a big event to go down to the pool! Great way to just sit back and relax without any crowds! The pool is beautifully gardened with amazing plants and trees that give you complete privacy! The house was open and airy and we loved listening to all of the different birds in the morning and the crickets at night! The air movement keeps the whole house very cool and comfortable....no a/c needed! We appreciated that the house was well stocked with all that you would need to settle in and relax or head to the beach to play! I would highly recommend this home. You will not be disappointed! Jeff was a pleasure to work with and it would be a delight to visit his home again!

Stayed Mar 3, 2018Very comfortable home in a great neighborhood. Very well stocked kitchen and bathrooms with any thing you may need. Enjoyed the pool, the birds, and even watching the geckos. Very close to many harbors we launched from.

Stayed Feb 2, 2018We just left the Kona Retreat and are already wanting to return! House is very clean with plenty of clean (white) linens and towels. All the comforts of home but with a hotel-like feel! Neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful, we woke up to the sounds of birds chirping each morning. Pool area with lots of flowers and fruit trees around. House is very accessible to Kailua Kona as well- we took Uber rides into town to go out to dinner- which were easy to get. Only thing to note is that the whole house is open-air so no air conditioning, and the occasional ant or two. Nothing that ruined our stay or would make us not come back. We would definitely return if we make it back to Hawaii!

Stayed Jan 17, 2018The house is lovely. It's tastefully decorated with all the comforts you would expect. The kitchen is well stocked with all the equipment you could possibly need. We baked bread and muffins whilst there and had a number of meals both inside and on the lovely lanai where you can see the ocean. The pool area is clean and it's lovely to sit out and catch some rays in privacy and comfort. The neighborhood is lovely and quiet within easy and short driving distance from Kailua for food, bars and beaches and also the airport. You never hear a plane. You need to be mindful to keep the kitchen clean and not leave any food out as being a tropical climate the ants are always looking for anything to get their mitts on but we found if you just clean as you go you're fine. We agree with past reviews that we never noticed or had any encounters with Jeff and Janet on the first floor, if they were even there! The only interactions were notes left strategically to call things to our attention which we appreciated. Overall a very relaxing stay. Thank you very much!

Stayed Dec 13, 2017My husband and I , and his brother and wife stayed here over the 2017 holiday season - we essentially moved in and didn't want to leave. The Kona Retreat has everything you could want in your home away from home - a GREAT kitchen that's fully loaded with any amenities you can think of for preparing meals, an amazing pool and lanai for taking advantage of Kona's gorgeous weather, laundry, pool and beach accessories, comfy beds and pillows, tons of space to lounge - this place is perfect!

Stayed Oct 10, 2017The property for perfect for our family and we loved our stay there. Jeff is amazing and so pleasant and thoughtful to work with. We spent a week at the property and wish we could have stayed longer. Everything is in top condition and beautifully maintained. There are helpful notes around the house to familiarize you with how stuff works and clear instructions on the counter when you arrive. It is nestled atop a hill which has beautiful views and a nice breeze. It's also an easy hop into town for meals out or shopping. Highly recommended and we'll be back next time we're in Kona!

Stayed Nov 12, 2017This resort was extremely quiet and nothing but the birds disturbed the peace. We picked some grapefruit from one of the trees down by the pool and they were delicious. The house was very roomy and spacious and everything was in working condition. We used the two beach chairs, the towels and the two boogie boards in the shower room for the beach. We had rented our own diving equipment from Jack’s Diving Store so we did not need to use the one which was on property. The kitchen was very well equipped; my friend thought there could have been some more Tupperware containers that were not out of glass to take to the beach. We were about 7 minutes away from fantastic snorkeling and really close to Ali’i Drive. The house did heat up quite a bit during the day, but with all the fans on the air circulated quite nicely and I slept like a log. We sat out on the lanai during breakfast and dinner and that felt so good. Liz was very helpful and came by the first evening of our arrival to unlock one of the upstairs bedrooms. This was my first vacation rental and I was very impressed!
