THE SPACE
We call our River Trail Retreat "the Cascade" in honor of both the Cascade Mountain Range to the west of beautiful Bend, and the cascading beer that flows from nearly 30 breweries in Central Oregon.
This lovely, clean, warm, and inviting space features new flooring, modern colors, a master bedroom with a private full bathroom, a second full bathroom with a tub, luxurious king-sized beds in both bedrooms, and a double-size daybed in the living/dining room for extra guests. Both bedrooms have closets and dressers.
The bright living and dining room also holds a dining table and chairs, as well as additional seating. The kitchenette features cabinets, countertops, a 7 cubic foot refrigerator (with freezer), sink, microwave, coffee pot, toaster oven, and electric burner. Please be aware there is NOT A DISHWASHER and there is NOT A STOVE in this unit. We have a large propane BBQ - with a gas burner attached - on the covered front porch, which can be used for cooking. You are also welcome to use a camp stove outside, and we are happy to loan you one upon your request. (No use of the camp stove is permitted inside the house.) Plates, cups, utensils, dish soap, sponge, dishtowels, paper towels, napkins, salt, and pepper etc. are provided. Please bring your own foods, oils, and spices.
We provide free WiFi for your use with your laptops and mobile devices. There is NO TELEVISION in the Cascade. And, as is the case with many homes in the high desert where the temperature can drop 40 degrees at night, there is no central air conditioning. A portable air conditioner is available UPON REQUEST.
Clean bedding, sheets, towels, blankets, towels, hand towels, washcloths, and dishtowels are provided, as well as TP! We provide Costco-sized shampoo, conditioner, and bodywash, as well as a hairdryer, and travel sized shampoo, conditioner, and body wash can be found beneath the sink in the sink in the main bathroom. Please bring your own toiletries.
Please note that the living room of the Cascade shares a wall with our living room in our home. That wall is not completely soundproof. We may be able to hear each other when we are here at the same time. And, cooking smells may also pass through. If you do not tolerate any sound or cooking smells through the shared wall, this space may not meet your needs.
Marijuana is legal in Oregon. Bend has many people growing marijuana in their homes and the smell of marijuana is often present in all Bend neighborhoods.
We are extremely equality- and diversity-oriented and welcome ALL guests! This is a safe and inviting space and we are thrilled to entertain every visitor! This space is perfect for singles, couples, families, and any combination thereof! And, we allow pets (with prior approval and a pet fee)!

GUEST ACCESS
You will share a wall with us - the homeowners - as we have converted the space into a duplex for your privacy! The unit is connected to our home and is separated by a wall with sliding solid-core doors. You will have a separate entrance and full and private access to your space.
You will enter the Cascade through the main front door of the property.
You will have primary access to the front patio, which has outdoor seating and dining space, and to the front yard, which is NOT fenced. You will NOT have access the garage or backyard. Please DO NOT open any gates to, or enter, the backyard.
We have 2 cats, 3 small dogs, and a lizard in our side of the home. You may hear our small dogs bark when you first enter the Cascade. If you have concerns about our pets, please let us know.

OUR NEIGHBORHOOD
We LOVE our neighborhood!
The Cascade is located less than a mile from Bend's historic Downtown - walk there in 20 minutes, bike in less than 10, or drive in less than 5! And, it's tucked in against the Deschutes River, so that First Street Rapids Park - the River and hiking and biking trails - is only a 10 minute walk (or 2 minute drive)!
You can walk to downtown via First Street Rapids, along the Deschutes River Trail! It's gorgeous! Directions for walking downtown are provided in a binder in the Cascade!
The Cascade is a perfect pet-friendly retreat. Walk out the front door and take your dog on a walk or an adventure! It's a perfect way to relax and unwind while you are visiting Bend, Oregon.
On-street parking is included in your stay. Please DO NOT park in the driveway.
Public transportation is Cascades East Transit. it goes all over Bend and Central Oregon and is a great choice if you're going to a special event with limited parking. Find routes and schedules on their website.
Of course, Downtown Bend is only a short walk or bike away, as is the Deschutes River Trail, from which you can easily access the Newport Ave and Galveston Ave enclaves, as well as the Old Mill District.

Second visit, it was great. Love the two king size beds and the two bathrooms ! The dining in Bend if fantastic.
Everything about the property was great. We enjoyed our stay and were able to walk to a great restaurant for dinner and along the river the next morning.
The location was perfect for walking into town. Beds were comfortable. Met our needs perfectly!
Host was communicative, helpful, informative and accommodating. There were snacks and a few beers upon arrival which is a nice touch. Great location in a quiet safe neighborhood near to bars, restaurants and amphitheater.
We loved everything about this house
We love the location, very close to great place to play on the river--1st Street Rapids Park.
Perfect place, great location, awesome host.
2 of us attended the Association of Northwest Weaving Guild Conference at the Riverbend Convention Center. Our friends who stayed in the hotel were jealous of the great place we found! Hosts were friendly and helpful, location was a 5 minute drive from our meetings. We had plenty of room for our weaving looms and spinning wheels, and a delightful porch to enjoy the evenings and the resident birds. The rooms were very nicely stocked and maintained. Wifi was great, kitchen supplies great, nice size fridge and ample storage.
What a darling, beautiful place! We wish we had more time, just a one-night stopover on our way to Idaho. Diana is a fabulous host! We were so comfortable in her lovely home.
Diana is a fantastic host. Accommodating and friendly. The place is perfectly located in a quiet neighborhood. Great stay!
It is a very small place with no laundry, cooking area or A/C. The owners were very nice, but the week was very hot and the portable AC barely made a dent. The one person staying with me moved into a hotel to cool off and I slept on the daybed with the portable A/C pointed directly at me. If you just need a place to rest your head and it isn’t a hot week, you will be fine. The neighborhood feels safe and it is close to downtown.
Great location for experiencing Bend and the surrounding area. We found the property to be very bright and inviting. Had a good night sleep on the comfortable beds and the bath and shower was perfect. Thanks!
Perfect for a quick day trip to bend. Beds are super comfy.
It was a very clean place. The owners let our dogs use there backyard. Very nice people
