Interaction
Salal Forest is set up for independent check in and stays, embracing the privacy of a vacation rental. There is a Welcome Guide sent to you 2 days beforehand and one you can scan at the house; please refer to it to troubleshoot before reaching out. Blue Crush is the local management company that is reachable by phone if you have any questions. You will need to contact us to empty garbage and compost if you are full.

Neighborhood
Salal Forest is located on the cusp of town, secluded enough to maintain a quiet atmosphere and close enough to walk, bike or shuttle into the heart of Tofino. Our neighbour is the beloved Naa`Waya`Sum Gardens (formerly the Botanical Gardens) where you can enjoy a morning coffee among beautiful flowers and mudflats filled with migrating birds and whimsical art. Your closest beach is Mackenzie Beach, just a quick jaunt down the road, where Lil Ronnies often has live music to serenade your sunset walks on the most beautiful beaches in Tofino. Beaches Grocery, Chocolate Tofino and Tacofino are all super close in the Outside Break Complex to satisfy any cravings you might have.

Transit
To get to Tofino from the mainland, you need to take a ferry to Nanaimo (closest) or Victoria. From there, it`s a scenic drive. Anywhere from 3 (Nanaimo) to 5 hours (Victoria). You can also fly into the airport with Pacific Coastal Airlines (the flight is stunning and so quick!) or seasonally, take a float plane from the Vancouver harbour downtown to Tofino harbour downtown.

There is a designated pedestrian path we call the MUP (multi use path) which is safe and has two lanes for walkers, bikers, joggers, strollers - you name it!. We encourage you to use it; it`s one of the things that makes Tofino unique. The free Shuttle bus runs during the summer months from town to the info centre. There is a city transit service that runs from Tofino to Ucluelet with limited service. There are a couple bike rentals (pedal bike and e-bike). There is also a local rideshare app called Coastal Rides, our version of Uber (download their app). Tofino Taxi is another option (though only one driver/car). For larger groups, there is Tiki Bus + Pacific Rim Navigators that needs to be pre arranged. There is a Budget Rental car service at the Tofino Airport (also needs to be pre-arranged).

This little cabin worked out great for my daughter and I. We were close to Mckenzie beach and a short drive to town, or nice bike ride. Every thing we needed was included, and the nice soaker tub was a bonus. Erika was very accommodating and responded very quickly. Would recommend staying at this property

Although not right on the beach, it’s an easy walk. The place itself was super comfortable and they’ve thought of everything you might need!

This spot is spacious, quiet, homey, very comfortable and well-appointed. We used the Multi Use Pathway twice to walk to town. The natural, locally made soaps, body wash, conditioner and shampoo were lovely. The beds and linens were hotel quality. One small issue was that the oven had a strong gas smell when we tried to turn it on. We messaged about this and Erika responded promptly that she’d look into this. We didn’t hear back and ended up just using the stovetop, which worked for our dinner. I’d book Erika’s again. It was just right for my husband, son and I.

Great location, close to walk to beach. Very short drive to town. Quiet area, and the home was clean and full of every thing we needed. The path/ walkway was on the same side of the highway, which made it easy to walk to places. Would stay again.

Property itself was clean and close to the beach. Communication with the property manager was non-existent when it counted. Asked repeatedly through email for internet code (not working), patio door doesn’t lock, couldn’t figure out how to turn on fireplace. All could have seen resolved if property manager responded.

Overall everything was great. Beautiful place, conveniently located. Loved being able to have our 4 legged friend with us. I was surprised to find how close the house was to the main home, and that it was attached to what seemed like a long term rental. We weren't alone, but that's okay. The garbage and recycling was not super clear. There wasn't a clear recycling bin other than drink containers only, or an outside garbage for doggy waste.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Salal Forest. This is a beautiful home with a good amount of space for two couples. Everything is pretty easy to get to by car.
