LITTLE SPOKANE RIVER.
Little Spokane River is a 35-mile long hidden treasure. River contains native rainbow trout, introduced brown trout, Sucker-fish, Brook trout and Mountain Whitefish. If you’re not an angler, the Little Spokane runs through Riverside State Park and offers miles of hiking trails. Try the loop beginning at Painted Rocks in the Little Spokane. Discover views of Long Lake and Spokane River.
THE FOREST:
Our Guest house opens to the outdoors, river & forest. This exposure to nature provides an inspirational relaxing effect. Japanese call it 'Shinrin-Yoku' which translates to 'forest bathing'. The idea is simple: If a person visits a natural area and walks in a relaxed way, there are calming, rejuvenating and restorative benefits to be achieved. Studies have documented reduced stress, lower blood sugar, better concentration, diminished pain, and improved immunity.
Taking in a forest atmosphere has become a cornerstone of preventive health care and healing in Japanese medicine. Researchers have established a robust body of scientific literature on health benefits of spending time under the canopy of a living forest. Many trees give off organic compounds that support “NK” (natural killer) cells that are part of our immune system's way of fighting cancer.

A sensational location right on the river. Quiet, pastoral in every way. Clean. Beautiful
My husband and I wanted somewhere to unwind and we also wanted to be surrounded by nature - we hate the hotel scene. This was just the ticket. A beautiful log cabin with comfy beds, a THEATER ROOM with the most comfortable chairs I've ever used (the white ones with the separate ottomans). The owners had left Seattle's Best Coffee for us, complete with the fixings - what a treat. Also, a very well stocked kitchen with everything we needed. The first night there, we were fishing in the stream and were visited by deer, a bunny rabbit and incredibly, great horned owls - one sat across the stream and watched us for maybe a couple of hours. Fun! We loved sitting out on the covered back deck out by the stream...so relaxing. The hot tub was just an added bonus. I was also pleased to find, after getting into the shower and having forgotten to grab the soap, there is a wonderful dispenser with soap, shampoo and conditioner. We wanted to just stay forever. We'll be back! Thank you!
We decided to check out Spokane for our Spring Break and had a wonderful vacation staying at the cabin. It was serene, peaceful and so very relaxing. Fully loaded kitchen and Costco nearby so we cooked all of our dinners and enjoyed great lunches around town. Great for kids too, a media room with access to Disney and Netflix, plenty of back yard fun and a swing too! We loved our stay!
Very quite Peaceful.
Staying here was like a fiary tale. Beautiful log cabin on a river. My familys trip was beyond wonderful.
Seven of my friends stayed and had our own quilting retreat. The accommodations were perfect for our retreat.
We loved the house and the setting. It would be a lot of fun in the summer.
Had a warm, white Christmas with our family at a home away from home. The cabin was comfortable, clean and was a perfect spot to spend the Holiday. We were able to snow shoe and ski MtSpokane and cooked big dinners in the updated kitchen, watched movies on the HUGE TV with surround sound, played games next to the fire, sat in the hot tub and slept like kings in the comfy beds. Would love to stay here again in the summer.
Beautiful and comfortable. Check in was a little stringent, but it was worth it. Beautiful, well-appointed kitchen and thoughtful touches everywhere!
Property looks like pictures. Hot tub very clean & relaxing. Kitchen very well stocked. Comfy beds, plenty of seating. Nice large tv room, comfy recliners great place to watch a movie or game. Best part of property was the view. Down private road, quite peaceful Saw deer daily and bunnies. Saw wild turkeys and a large owl, best part saw a moose in the lot next door. Lots of outdoor seating to enjoy the slow moving little Spokane view. Rick was quick to answer any questions I had.
Found this gem for my nephews wedding in Colbert. We were only 6 minutes away so it was perfect. We loved staying in a real log cabin and the place was clean and decorated nicely so it felt like home. We enjoyed several fiocks of Canadian geese that flew right over the river. It was beautiful! We also enjoyed the deer that came through every morning and evening. Our family that lives in Colbert loved the house too and will recommend to people who visit them and need a place to stay. It was a perfect long weekend and the host Rick was great. He made sure we had everything we needed while there. We will definitely stay again when visiting family there. We hope to get to use the hot tub next time as we didn’t have time this time around! Sue and family ?
Overall this house is a good place to stay at if you have a lot of people, but the property management makes you climb through a bunch of hoops in order to stay there. A few days before my stay, which had my friends staying there for my wedding, I get a call with a lot of questions on what I was doing there, what type of people are staying there even though I already gave them a list of anyone that was stepping foot on the property, and why I was renting a car when I live in Spokane. He then threatened to cancel my reservation a few days before my wedding date if I did not convince him why my group should get to stay. I get they have probably had their place trashed in the past, but that is the risk you take with hosting big houses like this and that is why you have insurance. My group left this place spotless and I got a bad taste in my mouth about this whole experience. Also, the river on the property is not swimmable. It is pretty gross water and you are not supposed to swim in the little spokane river.
It was even nicer than the pictures. The home was so cute and immaculate. We were supplied everything we needed. It felt like it was new to the marketplace as everything was pristine. The property was irrigated by the Little Spokane River that flows along one side and the yard was great and lush and every day deer and domesticated rabbits visited us. It was lovely and quiet and the perfect spot for us to relax after being with extended family all day.
Property is as pictured and described. Plenty of space for a crowd. The hot tub was great, the view can’t be beat. Plenty of linens provided and the house was very clean. It’s pretty much all newly renovated. 6 women and can’t wait to come back again!
Wow wow wow! I probably don’t need to say anything more than that… but I will! This property is beautifully maintained and exactly as advertised. The guest suite was ideal for my parents and the house provided a ton of space for four adults and three children. We had a resident bunny who joined us every day, all day; deer who showed up every morning just in time for coffee; and lots of ducks and other birds who added to the feeling of being somewhere private and remote. YET! Still so close to shopping, restaurants, the fabulous Spokane River Front (check out Flow Adventures - we had a lot of fun floating the River) and even Silverwood which is a must for anyone with kids. This place is a gem and we will definitely be back!!!
Full disclosure, i am an owner and manager of a vrbo property We booked this property in late December during the holidays. A month before our arrival, I get an email from Rick stating that I had not sent an email back with the guest names and age. He proceeded to tell me that if if didn’t complete that process within 24 hours, he would cancel my reservation. A simple email to remind me of my oversight would have been sufficient. Spokane reached 100 degrees the week we visited. We checked out of our Cour D Alene tenral at 11am and we asked Rick if we can check in early. As expected, Rick said no and asked us to wait until his cleaning crew completed the job. Rick has a very strict checkout time at 10:30am. In my experience owning and managing a vrbo with houses bigger than Rick’s, Is that I can have the house ready in 3 hours after the checkout time. Rick was non-responsive all the way to check in time. I kept asking if the house was ready knowing the cleaning crew could have been done early. I always let my guest check in early, but he made us wait until 4pm. Rick never asked us if we needed anything nor he checked in with us during our stay. We decided not to ask him for anything else due to his rude behavior. Rick might get good reviews because he promises a $50 voucher for one of his rental properties in the future if you leave a review. Least to say, I will never ever book another property that Rick owns. The house is super small, has a ton of confusing outlets with extension cords (fire hazard), he doesn’t provide any tubes or anything fun to enjoy the river. The house is far from downtown (which he states), but you can find much better properties in town. You can also find better responsive owners that care about their guests. Lastly, Rick puts a ton of restrictions on what can be done around the house. 1) air conditioner can’t go below 72 because it might freeze. If it’s 100 outside, there’s no way the unit will freeze. 2) strict septic tank, so you have to be extremely careful 3) house pictures are much better than the actual house. His rules are rigid and you better comply or he has a list of fees he will charge after the trip. Good luck!
We absolutely loved our stay. The location is magical. Our girls absolutely loved exploring and chasing bunnies.
