My room had a well stocked kitchen. There is an even bigger, stocked common kitchen too. It is a 10-15 minute walk to plazas or train stations. There is a bodega and a great taco spot a block away. Parts of the property are hundreds of years old so it does not look squeaky clean but it is well kept and very comfortable.

Las Sabilas is wonderful. The garden is magical. The art everywhere is terrific. It is a 10 minute walk to the plaza. I enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and the local shops and restaurants. David is a great host.

Length of stay was 4 nights. First of all, I hate to write a bad review. But I wish someone had warned ME of some of these things...The good things first: our host was excellent. Dave was attentive to our needs in a very timely manner, kind and professional. He could not have been better! The pool and the garden was fantastic--very private and beautiful. The beds were comfortable and the temperature at night was great. But the noise at night was awful--loud traffic all night, lots of talking and laughing outside our place, motorcycle repair next door during the nights with loud banging, one night a lady was crying in distress on the street for a long time. Second, the apartment was dirty. The kitchen dishes and counters were sticky, full of dust and grime. The bathroom was the same. The floors were dirty. Everything needed a good scrubbing. Third, it was not an area that we felt safe in. We had two different taxi drivers tell us, unsolicited, that we should not walk around in the neighborhood because it was not safe, that people were robbed of their money or their cellphones. We asked one man who lived in the area and he did not want to say, but finally said the exact same thing. So although the place had alot of authentic charm and was close to the town center, I would not stay there again.

The property is true to its photos. It really is a lush, tropical oasis in the middle of the bustling Centro. My husband and I have the larger room with a kitchen at the front of the building. It faced the road, so ear plugs are mandatory if you’re a light sleeper (I had my own). David and Angeles were awesome. There was a language gap with Angeles, but we know enough Spanish to get by when checking in. The property is secure; however, the front gate is a bit tricky the first few times you use it. Coming inside is fine, it’s leaving the property that can be frustrating until you get the hang of it.David and Angeles were also very helpful in shipping back a very important item we left in our room. I texted David from the airport when we realized we left the item. Angeles help coordinate next day shipping to Atlanta. We were happy to pay the expedited fees!

Such a serene garden space in the middle of centro. David was a great host as well, we had a date error and he went out of his way to accommodate us, and resolve the error quickly. Him and all the staff present were lovely, and so helpful. Would absolutely stay again.

I really enjoyed staying at this property, specifically because of the beautiful lush garden setting. The pool and landscaping are wonderful. The communal kitchen and outside lounge areas made for great places to meet other guests and hang out. I stayed in the “apartment” closest to the street, and it was a bit noisy during the day and early evening, but pretty quiet later at night. The “apartment” needs some work, but the other rooms appeared neat and well-maintained (from what I could see). David was a great host during my entire stay, always quick at getting back to me if I had questions about Guadalajara. He even hooked me up with a Spanish tutor, which I desperately needed. I would definitely stay at David’s property again!

Las Sabilas was exactly what I had hoped it might be. I stayed for the month of February. I wanted to immerse myself in a genuine experience of Mexico in general and Guadalajara in particular and Las Sabilas is an ideal place from which to facilitate that experience. David, Wyn and Veronica were all friendly and accomodating. The location is perfect for walking and bicycling around Guadalajara Centro.
