Welcome to the Ellsworth Creek Guest Suite!

Nestled off the beaten path between Black Hawk and Nederland at 8,300 feet elevation, this is your base camp for miles of Jeep trails, hiking, biking, and skiing.... or just relaxing in the creekside cabin sauna or around the flagstone patio fire pit.

We are also just 15 minutes from over 25 casinos in the historic towns of Black Hawk and Central City!

No matter your reason for visiting, this rustically modern log home will provide the perfect ambiance to your Rocky Mountain getaway!

***The Space***
Ellsworth Creek Guest Suite is the garden-level guest apartment of Ellsworth Creek Lodge, which may be occupied by other guests.

The Guest Suite has all of its own amenities (kitchen, bath, laundry room, patio, BBQ, private entrance). There is no interior access between the Guest Suite and the main Lodge.

Despite the home's rustic log exterior, the guest suite is very modern.

Both the living room and the bedroom are equipped with 50-inch Roku TVs and have access to Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, and Vudu.

Custom beetle-kill pine kitchen with concrete counters, range, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and dish washer.

Dining seating for up to six at the table and bar counter.

The guest suite naturally stays cool (65-70 degrees) even on the hottest summer days. You will not need or miss air conditioning.

Coffee, tea, sugar, dry cereal, and oatmeal are provided.

No need to mess with keys as you will have your own access code for the front door.

****PLEASE NOTE****
The main upstairs lodge may be occupied by other guests. Ceilings were insulated and sound-dampening underlayment was installed under the wood floors upstairs to minimize sound transmission from the main lodge. However, the wood floors and HVAC ducts still conduct noise so expect to hear noise from upstairs. We do ask that all guests respect quiet hours from 9:00 pm to 8:00 am.

****Guest Access****
Gilpin County road maintenance is very good after snow storms. Better than Denver Metro most days. However, winter mountain weather can make roadways challenging at times. The driveway is short but is up hill to get out. Even when roads and the driveway are plowed, snow often compacts creating icy surfaces. Two-wheel drive vehicles may experience difficulty during winter months.

Four-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicles are typically not necessary but are recommended between November and April due to unpredictable weather and road conditions.

****Neighborhood****
Forest and mountain-side views are all around the property. The adjacent neighbor's property includes a scenic pond that feeds Ellsworth Creek.

Ellsworth Creek runs through the back yard of the property. Typical of mountain streams, water flow can be low in late summer and fall.

Two neighboring homes are visible from this property. Peak to Peak Highway 119 is also visible from the back yard half way up the mountain side.

Conveniently located close, but not too close, to everything the mountains have to offer:

1.0 miles - Ellsworth Gulch Road Trailhead - jeep, hiking, and biking trails
2.1 miles - Town of Rollinsville
2.2 miles - Last Shot Restaurant
2.3 miles - Mid County Liquor Store
4.8 miles - Golden Gate Canyon State Park (hiking, biking, fishing)
6 miles - Town of Nederland (groceries, food, brew pubs, shopping)
7 miles - Eldora Ski Resort
12 miles - Black Hawk and Central City (over 25 casinos, restaurants, historic scenery)
23 miles - Boulder
25 miles - Idaho Springs (rafting, zip lining, hot springs)
26 miles -Golden
33 miles - Red Rocks Amphitheatre
35 miles - Rocky Mountain National Park
45 miles - Denver (Denver Int'l Airport - 61 miles)
49 miles - Loveland Ski Resort
52 miles - Estes park
56 miles - Arapahoe Basin Ski Resort
58 miles - Winter Park Ski Resort
59 miles - Silverthorne (factory outlet stores)
69 miles - Keystone Ski Resort
73 miles - Breckenridge Ski Resort
742 miles - Las Vegas (I'd just go to Black Hawk)

Neighborhood is 1.6 miles off of Peak to Peak Highway 119 down a gravel road.

***Phone and Internet***
Not many cell services work in Gilpin County except AT&T. However, onsite WiFi allows for WiFi calling from most phones.

The home's internet is a 37 Mbps DSL land-line service through Century Link. Service interruptions are very rare as there are no dishes, satellites, cell towers, or portable WiFi devices to worry about. The router is on a battery backup so you should have internet service even in the event of a power outage, which is also very rare.

The property does not have land-line phone service.

Such a perfect spot for a weekend away! Bring warm clothes, it was difficult to keep the place warm in the winter. We mostly stayed in and had a great time here!

A quick drive to Eldora Ski resort. Loved the property as it was spacious enough for the two of us. Loved the sauna as well. Would be fun to visit in the summer too!

I'll start by saying i should have been more aware of the location. We just didn't expect it to be twelve miles from Black Hawk, the last few miles on gravel. That's great if that's what you're looking for. But the pictures don't show the busy highway 150 yards from the patio. There were nonstop trucks hauling up and down the steep hill, you can imagine the noise. They also don't show the neighbor across the way with the bright outdoor lights on 24x7, no star watching. However, the property is exceptionally clean. It is also very modern. The owners have done a great job making it comfortable. It's well equipped, has a nice shower, decent kitchen and great living space. Be aware, it is a downstairs unit and the unit above is also a rental. You hear every footstep. We were awakened at 4 AM by what sounded like someone packing and cleaning up to leave. Stomping feet, slamming drawers, suitcase rolling across the floor. The next people had dogs so we heard all of the toenails clicking across the floor and barking. For some of reason the bed is, no exaggeration, 3.5 feet off of the floor. My 5' 4 wife couldn't get into it and had to slide out of it to the floor. Also, the mattress is VERY hard. We hated it. I know it sounds like it was all bad but it wasn't. Just be prepared to drive a lot if you go places. Ignore the neighbor and the noise. The sauna is awesome, the unit is very nice and clean and the yard is wel maintained and had lots of flowers and some nature areas.

I had a great time. The place is cozy and in great shape. The property is tranquil and in short distance to so many hiking opportunities. My dog had a blast playing and hiking around the area. Lane and Maren are great hosts. The check-in and out processes was simple. They made our stay wonderful.

We loved staying here! My partner and our 6 month old baby stayed here and absolutely loved it. As soon as we arrived to the property there was a duck family in the creek, and then we had frequent mom and baby moose visits, saw many chipmunks, just an abundance of views. The property is deep in the mountains; once off the main road it took 40 minutes to get to the property. It would be 70 degrees in town then 48 degrees at the property, and it just felt really nice. Also, the property was very clean and obviously well kept. Definitely would stay here again!!

We didn’t realize when booking how far into the mountains the cabin would be, but it was beautiful! It snowed as well! Overall great experience!

We had regular moose visitors. Beautiful drives to fantastic hiking and Boulder. Our favorite was right nearby at Golden Gate Canyon State Park.
