This building was constructed in eighteen-sixty six and served as the county courthouse during Virginia City's stint as the territorial capital. When the present courthouse replaced this one, 3 Catholic Sisters of Charity from Leavenworth, Kansas came and opened St. Mary's Hospital for miners. The hospital briefly prospered till the placer gold was exhausted in. In nineteen forty Mr. Bovey remodeled the interior as a hotel but little has changed on the exterior from the eighteen seventies.>The space

Seemed like cleaning staff forgot to clean out the garbage and used bathroom towel.

This property is historically so it can’t really be rated like a regular hotel/motel. There were few amenities but we knew that already. A queen bed would have been better than a double. It was great to have a nice shower and bath tub with plenty of hot water and towels. We were also able to fix a fresh cup of coffee.

Historic bnb type lodging. Floors creak. Voices are loud. Room very simple. No fridge. Coffee available. Within walking to downtown. Some guests forgot their key, so at 1 a.m. they were loud and drunk in the lobby. Made a lot of noise setting up a cot. Others slept in chairs. Very annoying. Talking on their cell phones. Unfortunate.

It is a good location, one block from main street. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets were very soft. It was a unique stay with several pictures that tell the story of some Virginia City individuals.
